Finally, when the sizzling stopped, I turned back to the steering wheel, put the car in drive and peeled out toward the compound. It was time for both these bastards to get what was coming to them.
Chapter 20
Shepard's POV
On the way back to the compound, Kat woke up. He tried to get loose, but I’d made sure I secured him well with the zip ties. When I finally pulled in, the bikes were lined up by the front gate. No one had left, except myself and Kat. I hoped that Tex was still ok, but I trusted that Rooster would keep his word. I still had time, and now I had the proof.
Kat tried to drag his feet and slow me down, but I continued to pull him and Gerry towards the doors of the clubhouse.
"Shep, brother, wait man. Wait. I can cut you in. We can make so much bank with the shit that Tex is cooking up. People are buying it by the fucking pound instead of the pill. It's crazy how much we can get. I can bring you on board, no problem."
I stopped and looked at him, "Did you know that Rooster is holding Tex responsible for this, that you trying to skim from the fucking club is going to get him killed?"
"Brother, I know that’s your friend and all, but this is business. We don't need him anyway, and we already figured out the formula so we can start making it ourselves. No worries at all."
I let go of his arm for a second, and the bastard had the nerve to smile, he had the nerve to try and get me to go against my family. Whatever Rooster did to him was too good for him.
I cracked him hard across the jaw one more time for good measure. He fell straight back onto the pavement, knocked out cold. I grabbed his arm and dragged him behind myself and Gerry.
"Is my sister there? Maybe she can make more payments. Can't we work something out? I swear I’m going to get the help I need, I promise, I was just trying to make this one last sale."
"Fuck you, Gerry, fuck you." I couldn't even stand to look at him. I pushed him harder in front of me. I opened the door to see Rooster, Hatchet, and Medi standing in front. Rooster had a smoke in his mouth,
"Shepard, I have to say, I guess I’m not surprised to see that you came back. And with two pieces of shit." He looked at the two of them. Kat still unconscious dragged on the floor behind me, and Gerry standing in front of me with his eyes cast down.
"You wanted proof, here it is." I pulled out the two Ziploc bags of drugs from inside my coat, the money that Gerry had given Kat, and finally, I pulled out my phone and showed him the photos of Gerry and Kat making the transaction. "That good enough for you?"
"Claro. Sin Duda." Rooster glared at Gerry, almost daring him to meet his gaze, but he wouldn't. "Medi! Come over here and get Kat comfortable. I want him awake. Hook him up with whatever you have to keep him awake and alive."
Medi shook his head and took Kat away from me.
"You can do what you want with that one." Rooster dismissed me.
That was all I wanted to hear. I tugged Gerry behind me, and he must have known that I was about to take his life because he threw himself down and began to panic. "Gianna! Gianna! Help me!" He screamed. I pulled him up and made sure to keep my pace. "Gianna!" He kicked and cried. He would get no sympathy from me.
His sister was a whole other matter, though.
Gianna's POV
"Gianna!"
I dropped what I had in my hand. That was Gerry. I knew that voice a mile away. I tried to run to him, but Tex stepped in front of me.
"Maybe you want to stay in here with me, darlin? You ever had ecstasy? It will blow your mind. Let me show you!" He tried to pull me in the opposite direction.
"Tex, let go." I tried to pull away, but he kept a tight grip on me.
"I got some of the inspiration for Blue Bunny from taking ecstasy. I liked that it made me want to fuck, but I wanted people to see what I saw, I wanted them to see the aliens and shit running around in my head, so I added some phencyclidine, the viagra was, well who wants to stop fucking when you got unicorns and rainbows all over the place."
I pulled again, still hearing my brother fighting and calling for me from outside the room. "Tex, get the fuck off! Now!" I screamed and yanked hard out of his grasp. He stumbled back a bit, and I took that as my chance to make it out of the room. I burst through the door and looked around; my heart dropped as I watch Shepard dragging my brother kicking, screaming, and bleeding behind him on the floor. I raced towards them.
"What are you doing? Let him go! You said the debt was paid! Let him go!" I pushed back against Shepard's chest, trying to get him to stop what he was doing.
"Gianna, back off!" He snapped at me.
"No! No! I will not! You promised me! You said he was good. What else do I have to do for you to leave him alone? You want me to whore myself out to get rid of his debt. You want me to stay locked up in the basement? What do you want, Shepard?" I screamed at the top of my lungs. I didn't care that I was causing a scene. My brother might be a fuck up, he might be selfish and a drug addict, but he was still my brother.
"You don't know what you’re talking about, go back in the lab and I'll talk to you later." Shepard tried to move, and I did the only thing I could think to do. I smacked him, hard. He took a step back, and I attacked him.
"Gerry, run!"
I jumped on Shepard's back and tried to keep him from catching my brother, but my brother didn't move fast enough. He didn't make it more than ten feet before Hatchet and Lucky caught him. Shepard huffed out, my arms still tight around his neck. He reached around and grabbed me by my neck and head, and flipped me forward. I landed hard on the table in front of us. I didn't go through, and he held my head in his hands almost to buffer the blow, but I would be feeling that later.
My breath was forced from my lungs, and I laid there for a second trying to remember how to inhale.
"Hatchet, put him in the back room. Apparently, I have to teach my woman a lesson." Shepard grabbed me hard by the back of my neck, helped me down off the table, and pulled me hard toward his room.
He pushed me into his room and slammed the door behind him, “Woman, what the fuck is your problem?”
“My problem! What the fuck do you think is my problem, I gave up everything I had to pay off his debt and here you are dragging him around. What did you expect me to do?”
“Trust me!” He yelled at me, fire and disappointment evident in his eyes.
I settled down. I knew that Shepard liked the bad in life, but I did trust that he would take care of me. I did trust that he wouldn't hurt me if he could help it. If he was telling me to trust him now, I could at least try.
"Why is he here?" I said through the tears that were still flowing down my face.
"He was trying to set up another deal. He was going to sell the stolen bunny. I asked him about his debt, and he said that it was on you. That’s the man you’re protecting right now. He couldn't care less about you, all he’s interested in was his next score.”
I couldn't believe that to be true. My brother knew that I was here, why would he even attempt to start selling again when he knew he needed to pay for me to get out of here.
I couldn't believe that he was that cold-hearted.
"He said that? I mean, those were his words?"
