Shot Across the Bow (Deep Six #5)(63)
Author: Julie Ann Walker

“Your turn.” She reached down to grab the long, hard erection that brushed her hip.

Even though she’d gotten a good look at it when he stripped in front of her—so straight and thick, with a nice, broad head. And even though she’d felt it throbbing against her belly when she was pressed tight against him. Nothing had prepared her for the feel of him in her hands.

He was as hard as a rock. As big around as her wrist. And so hot he nearly burned the palm of her hand.

“Mia...” Her name on his lips was the most perfect sound she’d ever heard as she rubbed her fingertips over his shaft, from the base to the tip, mapping every vein along the way.

She was surprised, and more than a little delighted, when his whole body quivered. That she could make a big, strong man like him—a man with so much experience in this area—tremble was incredibly empowering.

I am woman; hear me roar!

But then he grabbed her wrist to stop her play. “If you keep that up...”

He seemed to lose his voice when she wrapped her fingers around him to give him a good, long stroke. She finished his sentence for him. “What? I’ll make you come?” She’d never been a coquette before, but she felt decidedly coquettish now. “Good.” She went up on tiptoe to nibble on his lower lip. “I want to make you come. I want to feel your cock pulse in my h—”

He didn’t let her finish. Slamming his mouth over the top of hers, he pulled her to him so tightly that she was left with no recourse but to release him. It was either that, or risk giving him an injury.

Her growl of frustration grew into a whimper of lust when he wrapped her legs around his waist. Now his erection split her folds, pulsing hungrily against her clit. She decided it was a fair tradeoff.

Their hands were everywhere they could reach, cataloging every expanse of skin, every jut of bone, every line of muscle. Their mouths were open and greedy, trying to satisfy a hunger that seemed insatiable.

She realized Romeo liked to have his pulse point sucked on when she did exactly that and felt the answering throb of his dick. He moaned when she flicked her tongue over his skin, sucking in his smell—salt water and wind and those twin scents of warm cedar and oiled leather that would always remind her of him.

All the while the sea danced around them, sliding its cool, watery fingers over flesh that was hot with passion. Lapping greedily at body parts that were swollen and sensitive to the tiniest touch.

“I wanted to go slow this first time,” he growled, his hands on her hips, rubbing her up and down his length until her toes curled and she thought she’d go crazy for wanting him inside her. “But I don’t think I can—”

She removed her mouth from his delicious neck so that she could frame his face. The words make love to me were on the very edge of her tongue. But if this was love she was feeling, she knew it was all one-sided.

Instead she said, “Fuck me, Spiro. Please. I want to feel you inside me. I need to feel you—”

That’s all she managed before he cursed long and low and stalked out of the water.

She thought to let go of him; she knew she must be heavy. But when she started to unhook her ankles from behind his back, he smacked her ass and hissed, “Stay right where you are.”

A fresh rush of wetness ran between her legs. “My, my.” She pursed her lips. “Aren’t you the bossy one?”

She knew the wind was cool as it blew over her wet skin, but he was so hot around her, a human blast furnace, that she didn’t register a chill. He stopped briefly on the beach, grabbing something from the pocket of his jeans, before walking them into the trees.

Carefully, he lowered her to the ground. She expected to feel sand beneath her back, so she was surprised when all she felt was a cool, smoothness instead. Looking around, she realized she was lying on a palm leaf pallet.

“Is this what you were doing when you left while the fish was cooking?” She lifted an eyebrow.

He’d gotten the fish cleaned and put on the spit, but then he’d asked her to watch it. “I need to take care of something,” he’d said, and she’d assumed he’d gone to wash up.

Now she knew he’d had other things in mind. Decidedly naughty things.

“You were that sure this was going to happen?” she teased as he stood over her, looking like a bronze god in the starlight dappling down through the palm trees overhead.

“I was that hopeful this was going to happen,” he corrected. Then he shook his head and added, “My god, Mia. You’re gorgeous. I want you so much.” As if to prove his point, his hand shot down to his shaft.

Her head lolled back against the fronds. This is madness, she thought as she watched his grip tighten over his dick. A fever dream too carnal and decadent to be real.

    Yet, it was real.

And it was already better than she’d ever imagined.

And we haven’t even gotten to the really good stuff, she thought a little giddily.

Catching her bottom lip between her teeth, she drifted one finger over her collar bone, across the slope of her breast, and let it come to rest on her nipple.

His eyes watched the journey of her finger with a predator’s interest. And when she whispered, “Come take me,” his nostrils flared.

Slowly, he lowered himself onto the palm leaf pallet even though she could tell it was costing him. Even though she could tell he wanted to mount her and go at her with everything he had. And then he was kissing her and touching her with an urgency that had her instantly burning.

This is what I was born for, she thought as he moved down her body, his lips burning a trail of open-mouthed kisses from her shoulder to her sternum and over to her breast. This one perfect, passionate, pleasure-packed moment with the first man I’ve ever truly trusted. With the only man I’ve ever...

    Loved.

    There it was.

The truth she could no longer deny.

She was in love with Spiro “Romeo” Delgado.

Tears pricked the backs of her eyelids. They weren’t tears of sadness or heartache. They were tears of joy.

Even though it wouldn’t be everything most people dreamed of when they dreamed of falling in love, it was so much more than she’d ever thought she’d have.

This one perfect moment with this one perfect man.

“Please.” She pulled his mouth to hers. “I can’t wait anymore. I need you too much to wait anymore.”

He whispered something in Spanish that sounded deliciously dirty before he rolled away. The cool night air rushed in to fill the spot he’d vacated, and she shivered as goose bumps raised her skin. When he turned back, she saw he had a condom in hand—the thing he’d grabbed out of his jeans, obviously.
