Shot Across the Bow (Deep Six #5)(64)
Author: Julie Ann Walker

“I love a man who’s prepared,” she teased. Then, she realized she’d used the L-word. Not wanting to ruin the moment, she quickly added, “Let me,” and took the condom from him.

Tearing off the wrapper and positioning the round ring of latex over his flushed, swollen head was something she did in the blink of an eye. But rolling the rubber onto him? Oh, she did that slowly. Letting her fingers linger, watching her hands play, listening to his breath catch.

    Spiro.

The man who made her feel beautiful. The man who made her feel cherished. The man who made her feel...worthy.

    Even though she wasn’t.

“Mia...” Her name was a reverent sound on his tongue. “I can’t wait either.”

He moved over her then, settling his weight until their bodies touched everywhere. She could feel her heartbeat between her legs. Or maybe that was his heartbeat.

Or perhaps it’s the two of our hearts beating together.

And that imagery made her smile.

“There it is,” he whispered hoarsely. “That beautiful smile that melts me.”

He was smiling too. But his was a slow, seductive grin that promised unspeakable pleasures.

Before she could say anything, he reached between them and positioned himself at her entrance. She hadn’t realized she’d caught her breath until he instructed, “Breathe, cariña.”

She was in the middle of a shuddering sigh when he pressed into her. Just an inch. But even that stretched her, invaded her, filled her full at the same time it promised to give her so much more.

He dropped a kiss onto her lips. “You okay?”

She couldn’t speak. Every nerve ending rang like a klaxon. All she could do was nod, grip his hips, and urge him forward.

He didn’t hesitate. But neither did he rush. He slowly, inexorably continued to shove into her. And with each new inch, it felt like too much. Too much pleasure. Too much ecstasy.

Yet it wasn’t enough. Because he hadn’t fully claimed all of her. There were still inches to go and...

With a low grunt, he seated himself fully.

She gasped as his plump head rammed into her cervix, as her walls strained to accommodate him, as her clitoris buzzed at the feel of his pelvis smashed tight against hers.

She thought it couldn’t get any better.

    And then it did.

    Because he started to move.

Just a gentle retreat that dragged his shaft along her screaming nerve endings, followed by a slow, forceful advance that touched places inside her she didn’t know she had. Retreat and advance. Retreat and advance. His hot, hard manhood stroking through her wet, welcoming womanhood.

“You’re so deep inside me,” she whispered against his lips. “I’ve never—”

She couldn’t finish her sentence when he lengthened his strokes. What had been decadent delight became pure pleasure.

She was no longer Mia. She was Sex. A being whose entire existence was centered around the place between her legs. The place where they were tethered so tightly. The place he teased. The place he tormented.

Hooking her heels behind his pistoning butt, she met him stroke for stroke. Her sheath melting around him when he pressed into her and clinging desperately to him when he retreated.

He must’ve felt she was close. That, or the mindless sounds coming from the back of her throat told him as much. Because he ripped his mouth away from hers and whispered hotly in her ear, “Say my name, cariña. Say my name when you come.”

    That was all it took.

She was like an underwater volcano, everything inside her was molten hot, glowing and roiling, and his words were the catalyst for her eruption. Her body pulsed and sucked and milked his as her orgasm rolled through her, hot and violent.

And his name was an eruption all its own.

    “Spiro!”

Chapter 19

      7:52 PM...

    Romeo exploded.

That was really the only word to describe it. Found his release was far too tepid a phrase. Orgasmed was way too pedestrian a word. And came was hella succinct for what he experienced.

It was a peak that could pass for a neutron bomb. A violent detonation that rolled through his body in heated waves, searing his nerve endings along the way.

And hearing his name on her lips as she found her release? It was so much better than he ever imagined. So much more carnal and erotic. But also so much more...intimate. As if, with his body thrusting heavily inside hers and his name filling her mouth, they were one in a way he’d never experienced before.

For one golden moment, they’d become a single being made of pure bliss.

His brain had gone boom right along with his body. Which was why it was a long time after the last cannonade of release thundered through him before he realized he was crushing her.  Her ragged exhalations finally pierced through his bombed-out mind, and he pressed up on his elbows so he could take some of his weight off her—and so he could stare down at the woman who’d just given him the best sex of his life.

She blinked open those amazing lioness eyes. Her voice was huskier than usual when she asked, “Is it always like this for you?”

    Is she kidding?

Unlike her, he hadn’t recovered enough to speak. All he could do was shake his head.

“Oh, good.” She lethargically lifted a hand to pat his sweat-slick shoulder. “Me either.”

Her statement sounded flippant, and he couldn’t help wondering if that was to cover up how moved she was by the experience. Because if she was even half as affected as he was, the topography of her whole world had changed.

There was life before they’d become lovers. And now there was life after.

And life after is so, so, so much better.

Once his fine motor skills were restored, he gently rolled to the side, hissing the instant their spent bodies disengaged. He was quick to dispose of the used condom, and just as quick to pull her onto him, positioning her exactly as she’d been that morning when the last vestiges of sleep slipped from his brain.

Difference between then and now? Now he didn’t ignore the impulse to bury his nose in her hair. Except it wasn’t only her shampoo he smelled. It was her shampoo mixed with warm sunshine mixed with well-loved woman.

My woman, he thought. And the little voice in his head was quick to remind him, For now.
