Cold Heart(54)
Author: Ruby Wolff

Aiden points to the corner where we can see a poster, and he walks off. I know that the three of us will find Dean quicker than the two idiots in my office. I tried doing it their way, I tried to do it the right way, but now it's my way. Dean will die and nobody can stop me from giving him a brutal death for stealing my woman.

"I thought long and hard about what I want, and now I know. I want the club. You can have a day to think about it. I have your number. Expect a call by tomorrow." The screen goes blank, and I stare at the blackness in front of me.

"The delivery man said he was given a PO Box number with some cash in an envelope. Not going to get anything from him," Don tells me.

"I want you both to leave," I tell Rafe and Don.

"Atlas, think about-"

"I'm doing this my way now. LEAVE!" I shout as I get off the chair, and walk over to them still standing in my office. "I thought having men like you in my club would help if I needed it, but it looks like they can't do anything that I can't. You do it by the law, I'm doing it my way." I turn to walk back towards Rhys.

"If you kill him-"

"Nothing will happen to me, you think you're the only men in this club with power, I have more powerful men than you, even women more powerful than you. I will give them whatever they want, and no one will know what happened to Dean. Now get the fuck out my office." I stand there with my arms crossed, and they both stand there looking at me. I chuckle to myself knowing what they’re waiting for. "You're still members, now fuck off," I tell them, as I turn my back to them.

In this fucked up time, the only thing they care about is their fucking membership.

"What is the plan?" Rhys asks as I wait for Aiden knowing that he's going to come back with something. I down a glass of whiskey hoping the burn will control me from going insane.

"The delivery boy said that he picked the parcel from here," Aiden walks in pointing to the map. "It's about an hour away, the poster that we saw in the corner is a billboard. Going to have to find that billboard in that area." Aiden sits at the desk, and I let him get to work. I know not to ask him anything, let him focus, let him go into whatever world he needs to find Brooklyn.

My hands haven't stopped fidgeting with the handgun. Aiden is still working hard on the computer. I need to keep busy, I need to shoot someone, I need to get this anger out before I really do go crazy.

I'm not a saint, I know that, but I deserve to be happy. I deserve to have the woman I love. I don't know what game the universe is playing with me. If this is a test for me to pass, it's a fucked up game. I've passed every fucking test, I shouldn't be standing here fighting again.

"Atlas, we will find her." Beth steps in front of me, putting a halt to my pacing.

"I know." I don't tell her what I really want to say. I know I’ll get her no matter what, it just scares me how I’m going to find her.

Beth has been the head of the club at the moment, I need Aiden and Rhys with me. I need to have my team next to me, and Beth understands that.

"I've got two places: an abandoned building for hookers and druggies and a work office." I walk over to Aiden to have a look at what he has found. "The workplace has too much happening for people not to notice Brooklyn being there," Aiden tells me as he walks away from the desk.

"Can you hack the system to see if you can find Brooklyn or Dean walking around?" Aiden looks over at Rhys; he’s the hacker of the group.

Aiden was the tracker that found the enemies, Rhys was the hacker who could get into any radio signal or system, and I was the shooter of the group.

"It will take some time to look through the whole building," Rhys tells me as he ushers me out of the way.

"If we get it wrong-"

"Atlas we know, you don't have to explain to us," Aiden tells me.

We're close, two fucking buildings close, if we hit the wrong one, and Dean finds out we’re close, he could move Brooklyn, and I will be at square one again. I can't fuck this up.

I watch Rhys looking at the screen, he double-checks everything, and that puts me at ease, knowing that he’s looking through every corner of the screen.

When this is all over, I have to think about what I want to do with Brooklyn. If I have my choice, she wouldn't be leaving the house ever again, but I know that I need Brooklyn to make that choice herself. I need her to know that I love her, and only her.

Rhys spent a few hours making sure that Brooklyn was not at the work building, and he said it was clean, I trust him. I trust these two men with my life, so if Rhys says it's clean, it's clean.

I make sure that Detective Rafe hasn't been following us. We walk through the building, and a rush of dread runs through me with what I see, how the police have not locked this place down, or arrested anyone. The drugs, the sex, well I couldn't call it sex, the girl is that high, I don't even think she knows what is happening to her. The smell of piss lingers in my nose, the walls covered in paint, litter everywhere.

If any of these people have touched Brooklyn, I'm killing them without any regrets.

"When you see him, what's the plan?" Rhys asks as we look through the rooms on the bottom floor.

"A bullet between his eyes," I answer. I don't plan to ask him why he did it, he already answered that for me. He touched my girl because I kicked him out of the club, so there is nothing worth hearing from him. He will hit the floor before a word can escape his mouth, I've killed enough people to know that the chance of me missing is small, and I have that much built up in me at the moment, I won't miss.

"Then?" Aiden asks as he walks over to the next door.

"Nothing, I find Brooklyn and we go home," I reply.

I don't give two fucks what happens to him. I’ve spoken to a prominent guest at the club, and if anything links me to this, they are my alibi, so I'm not worried about anything. Before I left the club, I made sure that no one could touch me, I made sure that one of my top guests would back me up. I told them I would give them anything they asked for as long as it didn’t break my rules… They were happy to help me, because of the situation.

Three floors searched, and nothing, the only thing I've seen are some people fully drugged. If I ask their name, they wouldn’t be able to form a coherent word. There’s no point in asking them about anything.

Aiden throws a piece of paper at me, making me look over at him, as he points to the other side of the building, and my hand tightens on my handgun, he hasn't seen me yet. I walk a little to the side, so that I have a good shot, holding my gun in front of me. I give Rhys a nod to shout his name as Rhys stands behind me. I want Dean to know that I found him, I want to be the last person that asshole sees.

"Dean!" Rhys shouts.

He looks over at me, and the terrified look on his face makes me smile, and before he can move, I pull the trigger, the bullet escaping, causing me to jolt a little. I watch as Dean's body hits the floor, the bullet shot straight between his eyes- a sign that I can kill any man from a distance with precision.

I run around to the other side of the building towards the door that Dean came out of. As I open the door, there she is, standing in the middle of the room, and I freeze.
