"Are you sure you don't want to come again?"
"I'm sure I have the best medication I need," I start towards the door and thank her for listening to everything. Brooklyn was right. Talking to somebody about my problems did help.
"My door is always open," the doctor tells me as she walks out with me.
I took Brooklyn's advice on talking to someone far from the house, it's a three hour drive, but worth every second. A peace of mind that no one knows about this.
I got a call from the jewelry store telling me that the ring is ready to pick up.
"I hope she likes it," I say to myself, as I make my way over to the store. I've spent almost a month picking out the perfect ring for her. I wanted something special for her.
We’ve never talked about getting married, I didn’t ever think I wanted something like that, but Brooklyn is all I want, and I plan on putting a ring on her finger, so everyone knows she is taken, and is mine.
I sit in the garden, surrounded by the most beautiful roses. Lewis did the best job, he got every detail in my drawing right, and this is where I spend all my time now. Atlas made me an art room within the house, which I love as I get to put my drawings up, but this place is my second home.
I add the finishing touches to the painting of Atlas and I, making sure that the detail in Atlas’ eyes are perfect, as that is the one thing I can never get wrong.
Once I finish this, Atlas said it was too good not to be painted and put up in the house, that was the last thing I wanted, but he wouldn't take no for an answer, so here I am painting it for him.
Atlas told me to go out and see my friends, but Gabby lives far, and I didn't want to keep going over there. He said that if Gabby feels comfortable enough, she can come here and stay for the weekend. When I talked to Gabby about this, she loved the idea. I had to only add that the other half is a hotel, and she never asked any further questions about it.
She said she wanted to come again, and I loved that idea, as she is the only friend that I have, and I want her to stick around.
My heart brought Atlas and me together, and I thank Lucy for bringing Atlas into my life, showing me that he is the man for me.
"That looks beautiful," I turn to see Atlas standing behind me. "Almost as beautiful as you." He leans down and gives me a kiss.
Atlas sits next to me and intertwines his fingers with mine. I lean on his shoulder, thinking how our lives have changed for good. Consulting a doctor has helped him so much. He hasn’t stopped waking up in the night, but it happens rarely now.
"You know I love you, and there is nothing I won't do to make you happy." I look up at him, as he continues to look at the painting. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to express my love for you. I’m so much in love with you.” He takes a pause and continues, “You are my life Brooklyn, and there is no one else I want to spend my life with."
Atlas stops and kneels in front of me, something every girl in the world dreams of is happening to me making my heart pound faster.
"Brooklyn, I love you. Will you marry me?"
My hand rests on my scar, feeling the beat hammering my hand.
"Yes," I say through tears.
Love is a powerful drug; it is powerful enough to shatter you, destroy you completely; but it can also heal you. It gives you the best kind of high you never want to get off from. For Atlas and me, our love for each other was strong enough to heal each other’s scars and replenish our broken souls.
