Carrying Blaze's Mark(7)
Author: E.C. Land

“Do you have any idea where they might be? They can’t be too far. Not when he’s less than twenty-four hours old,” she whispers. Glancing over in her direction, I notice her bottom lip wobbling some. My strong woman who fears nothing is scared out of her mind. Not for herself. Never for her, she’s worried about Mark.

“I’m going to find him. Soon as I get you situated in the clubhouse, I’m going to see what Nerd’s found. He should have something by the time we get there. It’s what we were meeting about before you woke up.”

“What did he have?” Raven asks.

Sighing, I shake my head slightly. “I’ll go ahead and tell you since you’ll find out anyway. Those crazy fuckin bitches, used a candy cane to kill the guard who was working yesterday morning. Trevor reported he was doing a job and was out, came back when your brother called him. The surveillance video shows it was Irene who shoved the candy cane in the guard’s throat. She did it with a gloating smile on her face. Took the keys and the three of them escaped making sure to close the door behind them to keep the others in there. Selfish bitches laughed saying they weren’t helping them escape as well.”

“Trevor reported two SUVs were waiting for them and somehow his team has been compromised or they were able to figure a way to bribe a guard. Something. I don’t know. He’s looking into it. But the vehicles, we were able to identify two of the men due to Tyres and Brake. It’s their father and uncle. Right now, Nerd was looking for a way to find those two men.”

“Oh shit,” she murmurs on a shuddered breath.

“Yeah, it’s some fucked up bullshit we’re in the midst of,” I say, reaching across the center console and giving her hand a squeeze.

“I can’t believe this shit,” she snaps. “Why go after my baby?”

“Little Bird, I have a feeling that was a promise to Dixie. To use her to get to someone else. Someone more important to those bitches. I’m betting those bitches are after Victoria and using Dixie’s hatred for us as fuel to get what they want.”

“They think it’ll be me and Victoria that come to take them out for what they’ve done,” she mutters connecting the dots.

“Yeah, babe, they probably think it will be you to come after them. The men they’re with right now already tried to go against the Inferno’s Clutch but they crossed us more than once,” I murmur.

“Brielle. It’s the Pelletiers we’re looking at going against,” she says.

Fuckin’ love how smart she is.

“Shit. If those assholes are going after us it means they could be getting ready to go against my brother’s club as well. Ryder put his sisters in the institution for a reason. They’re insane as fuck. I was like five when he did it but, still, I remember hearing what they’d done.”

Yeah, they’re crazy and from what Tyres and Brake said alone I know there are no hard feelings between them and mommy dearest.

Silence grows between us as Raven sinks into her head. I hate when she does this but it can’t be stopped. Especially right now when she needs to hear the winds talking to her in the way only they can connect with her.

A lot of people think my ol’ lady is crazy but those of us who know her as well as we do, know the truth. We listen to her when she has something to say. Like her mother though, she always speaks in riddles when it comes to things about what’s to come. This is to not tell anyone what their future holds but it gives us all direction.

“Carry the pain within. Carry the pain upon each other. Cry for those we mourn. Cry for those in death. Never fear the reaper is near. Long as you bare your soul, he’ll grant you freedom. He’ll take those who abuse his name in vain. Find him before it’s too late and be granted with a life of peace in the end.”

Fuckin’ hate riddles.

“What do you mean, Little Bird?” I ask her.

“I’m not sure but I do know this journey isn’t for me to take. They say your baby girl is watching over her little brother but you must hurry. I don’t know much else of what they mean. Even I get confused by what they say to me. I do understand that my part comes later,” Raven mutters, letting go of my hand and rubbing her temples.

Following my brothers, I turn down the road leading to the clubhouse. “What is your part, baby?” I ask.

“To care for Matthew and keep him safe here. Something’s going to happen, they didn’t say what and I don’t know what but while you’re carrying on with getting Mark back, I’m going to protect our other son.”

Fuck, I don’t like the sound of what she’s saying but at the same time I get there’s nothing I can do to stop anything from coming our way. I can only do everything in my power to make sure she and Matthew are safe here while I go after the cunt who took Mark.

God help those who are near him when I do find him. I’m not playing when I say I’ll be putting a bullet between the eyes of those who put their hands on Mark.

Chapter Eight

Raven

“How are you feeling?” Victoria asks not for the first time.

“I’m good,” I tell her like I’ve said the past dozen times already.

“You say that but you don’t look it. No one will hold it against you if you had a meltdown, Ray,” she mutters.

“Leave her be,” Rachel says gently as she makes her way over to sit down gingerly in a chair across from the couch I was laying on with Matthew resting in the crook of my arm. I’d felt horrible about not being able to stop what happened to her. I didn’t see the full thing. But in the end, it turned out to be okay. Even if it’s going to take a bit for her to heal up.

“You can’t blame me for being upset for my best friend and everything she’s going through,” Victoria argues.

God, I love her but damnit it sucks sometimes when she can be this argumentative. She used to hide this part of herself from those in this very room.

“Vicky, I’m good. They’re going to find Mark and bring him home. I have to believe everything will work out the way it’s supposed to,” I murmur.

“It’s freaky sometimes how much like your mom you’ve become,” Victoria says, shaking her head.

“Yeah. I even freak myself out sometimes with it.” I shrug.

“Okay, so in other news I’ve found out I’m pregnant,” Rachel whispers and right then I couldn’t be more grateful to her for pulling the attention from me. “I haven’t told Stoney yet. I just found out earlier today and I’m scared as hell I’ll lose this one like I did the last one.”

“Hold on you were pregnant after Sebastian?” Tinsley asks.

“Yeah.” Rachel nods sadly. “I lost it within a week of finding out.”

Rachel has been going through so much and the fact she and Stoney are as they are now fills me with joy knowing they are going to have another child. I couldn’t be happier for them than I already am.

“That sucks, I’m sorry you went through that. Are you going to tell Stoney?” Cara asks.

“Soon as they find Mark. I don’t want his attention on anything else but finding that sweet little boy,” Rachel says, giving me a look of understanding. She of all the women here right now understands what I’m feeling. Her twins were kidnapped, and it took a bit of time to find her daughter, Corinne.
