Beautiful Deceit (Watch Me Burn #3)(25)
Author: R.E. Bond

She must have taken more, because there was no way in hell that she was still on cloud nine from the couple of lines she did before her fight.

I gave her plenty, but I just didn’t see her take anymore that evening.

I strolled into the warehouse, intending on checking on our profit from fight night, and I’d only just walked through the office door when Hunter barrelled in after me, slamming my back against the wall.

He wrapped a hand around my throat firmly, his nose almost pressing against mine as anger vibrated out of him.

The fuck?

“Don’t fucking touch her again, you got that?” He ordered, making me raise an eyebrow.

“Sure thing, boss.”

Like I gave a fuck.

I could get pussy anywhere.

He let me go, giving me a shove.

“Don’t coke her up again, either, or I’ll put a bullet between your fucking eyes myself,” then he stalked from the room and slammed the door on his way out.

I clenched my fists, glaring at the closed door.

That fucking bitch was dead.

Snitches got stitches, and she had no idea how dangerous I could fucking be.

I was going to have to keep my eye on her and figure out how to deal with her.

I couldn’t just put her in a hole, or we’d end up at war with the Bloody Psychos again, and I couldn’t be fucked with that pissing contest.

Rory

“You weren’t kidding, huh?” Tyler smiled as I slipped into his bedroom, closing the door behind me.

I’d never met his parents, and I couldn’t even tell you anything about them, either.

From what I’d gathered, they basically didn’t exist.

They’d been travelling the whole time since I’d met the guys, and Tyler had just spent most of his time with Caden so he wasn’t alone.

I stripped my clothes off and climbed into bed beside him, a desperate groan coming from him as I threw a leg over his hip and ground myself against him.

I was pent up and fucking horny, but what else was new?

His bedside lamp was on low, but I noticed the moment his eyes narrowed on my neck, just before he noticed the damage to my face.

“Who were you with tonight?”

Be casual, Rory.

“Why?”

“Well, I know you weren’t with us because I was with the other three until not long before you called me. Were you with Skeet?” He frowned, his eyes still tracking the damage across my skin.

I scowled, deciding it had been a stupid idea after all.

“Do we have to talk about this?”

“No offense, babe, but I just want to know who you were riding before coming here.”

Well didn’t I feel like a filthy whore-bag.

This was getting out of control.

Fuck, I was the only thing out of control, if I wanted to be one hundred percent honest with myself.

When I stayed quiet, he sighed, reaching for his bedside table.

“Never mind. I’ll ring Skeeter myself and…”

Fuck no.

Oh fuckity fuck.

No.

I snatched his phone, making him run a frustrated hand over his face, obviously losing patience with me real fucking fast.

“Babe, talk to me.”

Ugh, cats out of the bag now.

“Fine. I was with Hunter.”

“And he beat you mid fuck? What the fuck did he do to your face? I can see it’s starting to bruise around that cut,” he growled, his body tense against mine.

I snorted, because he knew Hunter wouldn’t hurt me.

Well, I guessed he didn’t know that, since Hunter was the leader of a rival fucking gang, but they’d all spent enough time together while I was locked up, so you’d think he’d trust him more.

“No. You can’t tell Skeet.”

Now he just looked ready to murder me.

Oops.

“Can’t tell him what, Aurora?”

I took a breath and met his irritated steel grey eyes, hoping he’d keep his mouth shut.

“The Devils had fight night tonight at the warehouse. Hunter let me fight, as long as Skeet didn’t find out.”

He looked even angrier somehow, his eyes glaring into mine in the dim light as he pushed my leg off of him.

“So, you fucked Hunter afterwards?”

Oh my fucking god, this was going nowhere.

“No.”

“Rory…”

“I didn’t fuck anyone, okay? Marco took me home and it got a little heated, but Hunter showed up and they both left. Then I called you and I drove here,” I blurted out, his face scrunching for a second, before he covered my body with his, pinning me to the mattress as smoke pretty much came out of his nose.

“And who the fuck is Marco?”

“One of the Devils,” I said softly as he raised an eyebrow, his voice oddly calm.

“Skeet will shoot up their warehouse if you start getting too chummy around the Devils without Hunter around to keep you safe. Stop playing with fucking fire, you’re going to get someone killed.”

I blinked with surprise, appreciating the fact that he wasn’t yelling.

“You’re not mad about me fighting?”

“I don’t like it, but as you like to keep reminding us, you can do what you want. Can I clean you up though? Your face looks sore, babe,” he asked gently, running his thumb across my sore cheek, drawing emotion to the surface inside of me that I’d been trying to bury deep.

I was getting bad at hiding my feelings, and I didn’t like that.

He waited for me to nod, before lifting me into his arms and carrying me up to the bathroom.

He placed my butt on the sink, and I sat still while he poked and prodded at my cut and the bruises that were forming.

His steel grey eyes flicked to mine as he finished, confusion swirling in the depths of them.

“Why were you fighting, and why did you get high?”

Nope, don’t feel like having a deep and meaningful.

I moved back from him, but he followed with a sigh as his gaze bore into what felt like my fucking soul, tenderness washing over his features.

“Hey, I miss Slash too.”

My eyes darted to his and he gave me a sad smile, his hand cupping my cheek affectionately.

“I’m so glad he got to love you, baby.”

“Why the hell are you glad? It got him fucking killed, Ty,” I snapped, anger and chaos rising inside of me.

How was his life worth less than mine?

Why did he fucking jump in front of that bullet?

He continued softly, a stupid little smile taking over his face.

“Slash always said he’d go out in his early years. He did stupid shit all the time, as if he were asking for it. Then he met you.”

I frowned, letting him hold my hands as his thumbs ran across the back of mine.

“What do you mean?”

“Slash was always the joker, but I’ve never seen him enjoy messing with someone as much as he did with you. You gave him something good in his life, even when you two hated each other, and he finally had someone to care about to give him purpose. He stopped being so reckless, and he actually wanted to be around. You might not have loved him in the way he wanted, but you still gave him the kind of love that no one else had before. I miss him a hell of a lot, baby, but I promise you, he died happy because he had you in his life.”
