She A Cautionary Tale(18)
Author: Carla Howatt

"You look even better when you're so obviously turned on," he chuckled.

"Never mind, look at the menu," she said with a blush.

They lingered over dinner, enjoying the food and each other's company. He talked about the beauty of his hometown, and how much he wanted to take a trip back to visit his old friends and family. They discussed the political situation and their shared feeling that it was time for a change. When they weren't talking, they sat in comfortable silence, chewing on the excellent food.

After dinner, they headed over to the theatre to watch a movie. Foregoing the snack counter, they went straight into their theatre. He walked them to the back of the room and chose two seats. As they settled in to watch the movie, he placed his hand on the inside of her leg. Tucking his fingers under her leg, he caressed her knee with his thumb. After a few minutes, he reached over and picked up her hand, placing it on his arm. They snuggled in to watch the show.

A couple of hours later, Luke pulled his vehicle up to her house. Putting it in park, he looked over at her and asked if he could come in for a bit.

"We had such a nice time tonight," he commented. "I hate for it to end."

"Of course," she said. She knew they were walking on rocky ground, but at that moment she was okay with it. One of the things they had talked about a lot was their desire to take things slowly and not let sex cloud their judgment. They had both made mistakes in the past, and they wanted to be clear-headed.

"Would you like a drink?" she asked when they were in the house.

"Just a pop would be great," he replied.

She carried her glass of wine and his glass of pop over to where he was sitting in the living room.

"Do you use your fireplace much?" he asked.

"Once in a while," she answered. "Would you like me to turn it on?"

"Sure, that would be nice," he responded.

She turned on the fireplace and joined him on the couch. He slid his arm across her shoulder and, using his hand on her neck to pull her closer, began kissing her. As always happened when he kissed her, a warmth spread across her body. But tonight, the smell of him, the hardness of his chest and the small sounds he made deep in his throat as he kissed her were so incredibly erotic, she wasn't sure how she was going to stick to the no sex rule. The sensations he brought out in her body were strong and insistent, and she felt an overwhelming need to have him consume her, to wrap her in his arms and surround her, bringing her into him.

After a short while, she gathered her wits enough to push him away.

"Okay, time out," she laughed, breathlessly.

"Don't worry," his voice was low and husky. "I'm in control."

"That's great Luke," she replied. "But I'm not so sure I am."

He gave the same kind of chuckle he had in the restaurant, seeming to relish her discomfort and the effort it was taking her to remain under control. If she didn't know better, she would think he enjoyed taking her to the edge of her will power.

"You worry too much," he said softly, moving her hair off her face and tucking it behind her ear. "I'm not going to take us anywhere we've both agreed we shouldn't be going."

"Did you just say, 'Trust me!'" Olivia asked, archly, with a chuckle and a raised eyebrow.

Without cracking a smile, he looked deep into her eyes and asked: "Don't you?" Returning his gaze, she smiled slightly and admitted that yes, she did.

"Good! Then come lie down on the rug with me and let me hold you," he said.

She felt like he was issuing a challenge to see if she truly trusted him, and so against her better judgment, they laid out on the rug in front of the fire.

He pulled her close, tucking her body neatly into his. She could feel his arousal against her leg, and again her body stirred. He tilted her chin and kissed her gently on her lips. After a moment or so, the kiss deepened. He placed his hand on her rear and pulled her in tighter against him. Oh Lord, she thought, what is he trying to do to me? He continued to kiss her, his tongue darting in and out, his hand slipping up under the back of her shirt and caressing her back. His fingertips slipped under the edge of her bra, near the back clasp, and he followed it around until his fingers were touching the bottom swell of her breasts.

Suddenly, he pushed her onto her back and towered over her, leaning all his weight on one arm. He brushed her hair away from her face again and kissed her gently, his tongue caressing her bottom lip, which he soon began to suck lightly. His free hand roamed down her body and unbuckled her pants.

"Oh no, uh-uh," she said as she tried to sit up, feeling like she was trapped in some kind of sensory overload.

"Sssshhhh," he said with a whisper. "Remember? Trust me."

"Oh Lord," she said. "Sure, trust you. Uh-huh, trust you."

He laughed as he completed unzipping her pants and pulling them down slightly. They were low rise pants to begin with, and it didn't take much for them to come half off. For a moment she felt self-conscious about her stomach and the two babies she had carried. What would he think when he saw her flawed body? Her ex-husband's disapproving face flashed before her eyes. These thoughts were soon pushed to the side as he continued to kiss her, alternating between her lips, her neck, and her ears. After a few minutes of teasing her with these light kisses, he sat up and moved between her legs. Pulling her pants down another inch or so, he pushed the crotch of her panties aside and began to kiss her there, using the same light kisses and sucking he had used on her face.

"Ohhhhhh," she gasped. "What? Don't! Ooohhhh!"

He continued as her back arched and her stomach clenched with the pleasure that came over her in waves. When her body had relaxed, and she lay panting on the floor, he returned to his position of lying beside her.

He whispered in her ear, "Don't move, just lie here. I'm going home now, and I want to know you haven't moved."

She nodded her head, her eyes closed. She wasn't sure if she just didn't want to talk or if she was incapable. But she stayed where she was, lying in front of the fireplace as he got up, put his shoes on, and walked out the front door. She wasn't sure how long she stayed there, but eventually, she heard her phone buzz. She roused herself enough to grab her cell off the coffee table.

"I was driving home, and I could smell you on my lips."

Arrrrrggghhhhh! she thought as she flopped back onto the rug. What on earth had she gotten herself into? She was supposed to be keeping a clear head. She definitely hadn't acted very rationally tonight! They couldn't keep going down this road, it wasn't helping at all. But how on earth was she going to put a stop to that, when her traitorous body obviously had other ideas?

Chapter Sixteen

She

S he arrived at the bed and breakfast just before dinner time. Pulling up, she opened the trunk of her car and grabbed her bags. Her husband had continued to call and send texts every few minutes all the way here. Her nerves were frazzled, and she was ready to try and relax.

Knocking on the front door, she paused to admire the log house; its quaint welcome sign and knick-knacks lining the walkway. In the past, She and her friends had once decided that part of a proper road trip was making the place where you were staying a bit of adventure. No bland hotel room or strip motel for them when they headed out, it was always something different and unique.
