"Wipe the taste of your cunt from my lips?"

"Say one more thing like that and I will fuck you in front of Dean."

"Good to know." It's a tempting offer.

She adjusts her dress and checks her reflection—perfect, as always.

I move into the bathroom. Wash my hands and face. Ask myself if I'm fucking crazy for making her wait.

We could ditch this stupid dinner.

Stay in and fuck like rabbits instead.

I could be inside her.

But the thought of her fighting her arousal as she laughs with Dean—

Fuck. Thinking about this shit isn't the way to get my cock to cool it.

She is laughing at something Dean's saying.

And he's chuckling in that shit-stirring way of his.

I wipe my hands and face. Move into the main room.

Dean nods to Leighton. "Damn. He cleans up nice."

"Tell me something I don't know." She motions come here. When I do, she brings her hands to my tie. Adjusts the knot. "You look amazing."

"You look sexy as fuck."

"Thank you." She rises to her tiptoes to press her lips to mine. "Shoes."

They're sitting by the dresser. I take three steps backward, bend to pick them up.

She smiles. "I can do that."

"But I can look up your dress if I do it." I motion to the bed.

She takes a seat.

I drop to my knees between her legs.

"This is familiar." Her gaze flits to Dean then it's on me. "What would you do if I jumped you now?"

"Now?" My fingers skim her ankle as I slide her right shoe onto her foot and secure the clasp. "Let him watch."

"Hmm." She chews on her bottom lip as she considers it.

My cock whines for attention.

I ignore it as I slide her other shoe on and secure the clasp.

She leans down and offers me her hands.

I take them, let her help me up.

Dean laughs. "You're a disgustingly cute couple." Earnesty drips into his voice.

It's weird.

Leighton stands. Smooths her dress. Slides her arm around my waist. "Thank you."

"You guys eat?" He laughs. "Besides—I'm not even gonna make that joke."

"You're growing up." She laughs. "Wait. Why would we eat?"

"Dinner was family only. We're invited for dessert and cocktails," he says. "You didn't know?"

I shake my head. "Let's stop somewhere first."

"No. It's fine. I want to get back to the room as soon as possible." She slides her hand under my jacket. Rests her palm on my side.

Dean chuckles. "He's that merciless?"

She shrugs, playing coy, but it's written all over her face. She needs me inside her.

My heartbeat slows as we make our way down the hall.

The elevator is crowded with a mix of people in swimsuits and casual clothes. We stick out like sore thumbs.

Hawaii is the land of laid back attire. Nobody wears suits or fuck me, I'm a spy cocktail dresses.

A tall woman eyes us curiously. I guess it's strange, two guys accompanying one girl. Especially when the girl is somehow satisfied and wanting at the same time.

I intertwine my fingers with Leighton's as the elevator doors slide open.

We wait for the families and couples to pour onto the concrete. I motion after you to Dean. Then I lead Leighton through the hallway.

The restaurant is here. At the hotel.

It's right there. On our left.

The chatter of conversation fills the air as Dean pulls the door open.

His eyes meet mine. He raises a brow. You okay?

I nod, but, honestly, I don't fucking know.

One way or another, tonight is the beginning of the end.

Chapter Forty-One

Ryan

There are a hundred people crammed into a space meant for two dozen. It's Penny's party on steroids. Twice the guys in suits. Twice the Dockers-wearing crew. Twice the expectations.

Leighton's fingers curl into my side. Even with my suit jacket and my shirt in the way, her touch is hard.

The easiness of the day is gone.

She shakes off the furrow in her brow. Presses her lips into a perfect smile.

But it doesn't fool me.

She doesn't want to be here.

Her gaze moves over the room. The restaurant is all open space at the moment. It curves around a man-made lake. A mesh fence keeps out bugs and birds. It does nothing to block the sunset.

The sun sinks into the deep blue ocean. It casts an orange glow over the beige sand. It's gorgeous, but it's nothing compared to Leighton.

"Oh my God, you're here!" A bouncy voice flows into my ears. Kristen. She steps through a group of older women to greet us. Her cheeks flush as she nods hello to Dean. "Hey."

"Hey." He nods back.

She bites her lip as she looks him up and down. He said he rejected her, but not how. He must have made some excuse. Some promise of another time. She's got that look in her eyes—let me cash in on the other time now.

His expression screws with confusion. This might be the first time he's ever asked a woman to wait. He's not exactly—

He's a manwhore.

It makes him happy. He's safe. It's not my business and I like to keep it that way.

Leighton spares us from their awkward stare. "Your dress is cute. Is that the bridesmaid's dress?"

Kristen twirls. Corral chiffon twirls with her. "No. That's tomorrow. But it's not terrible. Penny was specific about the color, but the rest was up to me."

"Can I see?" Leighton asks.

Kristen shakes her head. "Sworn to secrecy."

"And the color?" Leighton asks.

Kristen points to the baby pink bouquet lining the buffet table. She winks at Leighton. "Our secret."

The soft pink flowers are gorgeous.

But they're the kind of thing Penny hated. Does she still hate them or is this one of the million ways she's changed?

I don't know.

And I'm not sure I want to.

"Your dress is great." Kristen's gaze fixes on Leighton's chest. "Bold."

"Slutty." Leighton laughs. "I know. Probably not appropriate for this kind of event, but I had to have it when I saw it, and I haven't had a chance to wear it."

"It could be good for some role play." Kristen looks to me curiously, like she's assessing whether or not I'd be into role play. "I can see it now. James Bond and the femme fatale."

"Austin Powers," I say.

Kristen's nose scrunches with confusion. "Huh. I guess that's different."

Leighton laughs. "Inside joke."

"Oh." She turns to Dean. "How have you been? Busy?"

"Yeah." He shoots her a fuck me smile. "But I'm free tonight." His gaze goes to me. "In theory."

"Worried Ryan's going to cry over Penny?" Kristen's dark eyes fill with regret as she realizes her words. "I mean… Uh… It could happen."

"Yeah." Leighton pulls her hand to her side. "It could."

"I'm sure he's happier with you. Really, you're a much better fit than he and Penny were. She was always talking about how it wasn't right anymore. I mean. Not always. But toward the end." Kristen's voice is encouraging. She's completely unaware she's saying tactless shit.
