Bloody Union (Made #1)(37)
Author: Brooke Summers

Jason frowns, “Nothing, none of the men have said anything.”

Michael sighs, “We’ll look into it. We sent fourteen shipments out, Makenna, and we never heard that one didn’t make its destination.”

“Look into it quietly,” she instructs and they nod. “Good, thank you for coming today and Jason, the next meeting of the Underbosses, I’ll introduce you.”

He gives her a small smile and a sharp nod. “Thank you, Boss.”

They shake our hands and follow where Lawrence left.

We talk to a few more of the men before making our way out of the clearing and into the waiting car. Romero and Alessio are sitting in the back and by the looks of things are arguing.

“What are you two arguing about?” Makenna asks as we get into the car.

Romero sighs, “It’s just a disagreement.”

“About what?” Her tone brokers no arguments.

“Fuck,” he growls. “Alessio wants to do it tonight to get it over and done with.”

I clench my teeth, I can’t believe this shit. Fucking arguing over who kills our father and when.

Makenna glances at me before she looks back at the road in front of her. Her face is flushed and the grip she has on the steering wheel is making her knuckles turn white, not to mention the anger that flashed through her eyes before she turned away. “And you? What is your take on this? I mean, you’ve made it clear that you want it to be a quick death,” she asks and I’m impressed at how she always manages to keep an even tone.

“While I’d love to kill the bastard sooner rather than later, I’m not stupid. I’m under your thumb now,” Romero sneers.

I turn and pin him with a stare. “Is that what you think? You don’t see this as an opportunity to fucking be the man you should have been? Don’t fucking talk to her like that again. She’s your Boss, fucking show some respect.”

If you had told me weeks ago that the woman I was going to marry would be a stone-cold killer, I would have laughed in your face. If you had told me that I’d fucking love her psychotic side, I’d have shot you in your kneecap. But the truth is, I wouldn’t have Makenna any other way. This life we’re building, the empire we're creating, it’s going to be magnificent, and when it’s done, we’re going to be unstoppable. The Italians and the Irish together and better than ever.

“You’re right. I’m sorry,” he says quietly but the sincerity is there. “I’m just not sure about marrying Holly. She’s a little…” He drifts off and I know he’s not sure what to say, he doesn’t want to insult his soon-to-be-bride, but also, not disrespect her.

“Look, Romero, Holly and I are as different as night and day. She’s the light to my dark and the good to my evil. Having said that, she’s not a saint and she won’t claim to be. Holly knows a hell of a lot more about this life than most and she’ll be there by your side through the thick of it. If you let her, that is.”

He doesn’t say anything and Kenna lets him be. “Also, there is only one person killing that bastard of a father of yours and that’s Dante. When he does, it’ll be done when there’s no blowback. No one can know that he did it and if I find out anyone has said a fucking word I’ll kill them.”

I stare at her, she has a smirk on her face. “You’ve already figured out how to do it, haven’t you?”

She nods, the smile growing wider. “Yeah, we’re going to sit down with your father at a restaurant, all of us. It’s going to be public and you’re going to inject the fucker with Potassium Chloride.” She turns to face me and her beauty is breath-taking. “Instant heart attack. By the time the EMT’s arrive he’ll be dead.”

I’m speechless. She’s got it worked out completely. Not only will everyone around us believe it’ll be a heart attack, the rest of the world will too. The plan is perfect.

“Holy fuck, Kenna.” Romero smirks, “Damn, remind me not to get on your bad side.”

She grins, “You’re safer than most, Romero, or you will be when you marry Holly. I don’t kill family.”

“I thought you said you had killed your family before?” Alessio comments and I remember that conversation, she was talking to Romero, telling him to embrace his inner darkness or some shit like that.

“I have. I’ve killed women who have betrayed the family. Women who are married into our family.” She sighs, “For some ungodly reason, men seem to think killing women is an act of sin or some shit. I have no fucking idea, we’re as lethal and vindictive as men are, hell even worse as we’re sly about doing it. So whenever women needed to be killed, I was brought in, especially when it was family. Just a shame that bitch Zoe hasn’t done anything. I’d have taken delight in making sure that fucker was burning in hell.” The darkness in her voice has my cock straining against my pants.

“Who’s Zoe?” Romero asks.

Makenna smirks, “Oh, that’s your soon-to-be mother-in-law.”

I hold back my laughter at the look of horror on my brother’s face. If Makenna hates the woman there has to be a good reason. Romero doesn’t have as much restraint as Kenna does and if Zoe irritates him, she’s going to know about it.

“Good luck, bro. By the sounds of it, you’re going to need it,” Alessio chuckles.

“Dante, set up the dinner with your father for next week. We don’t want to have it sooner in case the fucker gets suspicious. Besides, I’m going to need to get my hands on the potassium.” I nod and she glances in her rear view mirror. “Romero, I need you to do some digging. My drugs come from various different places, depending on what it is and where it’s going. Last week I had a shipment come from Canada to Maine where it was sorted and distributed into trucks to bring to my men. Apparently somewhere along the way a shipment went missing. I want you and Finn to find out what the fuck happened. I want to know if it was sent out and if it was, where it was intercepted or delivered.”

Romero nods instantly, “Yes, Boss. How much are we talking?”

“Street value of six-point-three million dollars,” she replies angrily and now I know why she’s fucking pissed.

“On it, Boss. I’ll call Finn tonight and we’ll find out.” He assures her and I watch as the tension starts to seep from her body.

Once we’re home, I’m going to take her to our room and strip her out of her clothes and worship her body slowly. My cock is hard as stone and I know that it’s not going to be gentle, then again, it never is between us. Our passion runs red hot and it shows in our love making.

The water cascades down my body, taking the dried blood from my hands. It’s almost as if I’m washing away my sins. Killing that arsehole in the clearing was easy. A typical male underestimating me, he just looked into my face and was so zoned in, that he didn’t see me reaching for my knife. The men that I’ve worked with for years, have respect for me, they know what I’m like and they’ll have my back, just as I have theirs. It’s the way it’s supposed to be and I will not tolerate it any other way.
