Tangled Sheets(375)
Author: J.L. Beck

Alana leaned against her doorjamb, watching him unlock his door. When it opened, he glanced at her over his shoulder and tossed her a wink before going inside.

She had secretly wished for a night with Mr. Hotness. Well, she got it, and a whole lot more.

Now she was going to have to step back into reality.

“How is it I haven’t heard from you all weekend?” Sofie asked.

Alana took a sip of her Coke and shrugged. Normally, they would talk on the phone or hang out. This was the first weekend they had done neither.

Work had been hard, as Alana could barely concentrate. All she could think about was a tall, handsome man with the clearest gray eyes who had fucked her into oblivion.

Picking up her fork, she dove into her food. When Sofie had called and invited her out to lunch, she practically ran from her office. She had wasted her day away, caught up in all her memories.

“I was actually busy this weekend.”

Sofie narrowed her eyes, her suspicion making Alana feel guilty.

“Doing what?”

It wasn’t like she could’ve called her bestie in the middle of back-to-back orgasms. That would’ve been cruel.

Moans and screams were all that would have poured from Alana’s mouth.

Nope.

She chose to wait until she could see her friend in person, to tell her what all she’d been up to. Not that Alana was the type to kiss and tell, but there were some things a girl had to share with her bestie.

“Let’s just say the dry spell is over,” Alana whispered, keeping her eyes on her plate when Sofie shrieked.

“Are you kidding me?” she cried, bursting into laughter. Alana tried to keep from smiling, but lost the battle. Grinning, she danced in her seat while Sofie dabbed at the corners of her eyes. “Okay, that was not what I was expecting. He kept you occupied the entire weekend? Who was the lucky guy, and you better not tell me it was Danny.”

Alana snorted. There was no way in hell she’d be this happy about having sex with Danny. That man was no longer in her memories after her weekend with London.

“Nope. Not Danny.”

“Look at your face. That’s the expression of someone who was dickmatized,” Sofie giggled at her own joke. “Don’t leave me in the dark. Who was it?”

Alana took another sip of her drink, trying to buy some time, but Sofie’s wide eyes and foot tapping under their table wasn’t going to allow her to wait any longer.

“It was Mr. Hotness.”

Sofie froze. The woman didn’t bat an eye or breathe. Had they been on the phone, Alana would’ve checked to see if the line had been disconnected.

“Earth to Sofie.”

Blinking, Sofie leaned back in her chair.

“Did you say Mr. Hotness? The guy who lives across the hall from you?”

“I did. London and I—”

“London?” Sofie crowed. “I guess you and Mr. Hotness are now on a first name basis?”

Of course her friend would tease her.

“I mean, after the things that man did to me…”

“Okay. He must give good dick if he’s got you looking like that.”

“Sofie!” Alana looked around with wide eyes, praying no one around them heard her friend. The restaurant was busy with the lunch crowd, but everyone seemed to be ignoring the two of them.

“What?” Reaching for her drink, she took a sip and winked at Alana over her glass. “So was he any good?”

Alana knew what her friend was fishing for, but she didn’t want to share the intimate details of what passed between London and her.

“London’s actually a great guy.”

The time they had spent together had allowed her to get to know the real London. He was open with her, playful and sweet.

The sex.

Dammit, it was going to take a while for her to forget that.

“Is that so? And him being such a great person has put that dreamy lovesick look in your eyes?”

“What are you talking about? We had fun. And believe it or not, we actually left my apartment too.”

“How did you two hook up, anyway?”

Alana went into the entire story of her returning home from running with Sofie and their meeting. Sofie listened, entranced by the story. Finally, she shared with Sofie their morning together and their goodbye.

“That’s it?” Sofie exclaimed. “Just a see you later and have a great day at work?”

“I guess. I didn’t want to seem like a clingy woman. I knew what I was getting into.” Alana finished her meal and sat back. The waitress stopped by their table to check on them before leaving their check. “One night turned into a weekend.”

“ You said he never has the same woman over.”

“I did.” Alana’s stomach clenched at Sofie’s words. She was now officially a notch in his belt, along with all the other women who paraded into his life. She hadn’t even thought about what their relationship would be like now that they’d had sex.

Would she see him in the hall and wave as he walked past with another woman?

Her heart rate spiked at the thought.

She didn’t know if she could go through seeing countless women go in and out of his apartment.

“Are you all right, Alana?”

Blinking, she offered Sofie a smile, trying to play it cool. “Yeah, I am.”

Sofie didn’t look convinced.

“I’ll be fine. People have one-night stands all the time. I got a weekend.”

London knew Alana’s routine. From his short stint as a stalker, he knew what time she would arrive home. On his way home from the office, he had picked up a large pizza.

Glancing down at his watch, he saw it was time for his girl.

When did she become his girl?

The second he took her out on his private boat.

He’d never taken a woman who wasn’t related to him out on Lake Erie, particularly on his boat. Yes, his company owned a yacht for entertaining, but that was for business.

London jogged into his kitchen and took the pizza box out. Snatching his keys and phone from the counter, and headed out into the hallway, wanting to surprise Alana with dinner when she arrived home.

Stepping out into the hallway, he shut his door and waited. Within minutes, he heard the ding of the elevator stopping on their floor.

Moments later, he was rewarded with the sight of Alana walking toward her apartment.

“Welcome home.”

He grinned at her shocked expression.

“What are you doing out here?” she asked as she drew closer. Today she was sporting a pair of oversized black-rimmed glasses, her hair pulled back into a low ponytail. She was dressed in a cheetah print blouse and black skirt, with matching cheetah Chucks.

Alana was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Her sense of style fit her. She was different from anyone he’d ever been with, and that was probably why he was drawn to her.

His entire day at work was wasted because he couldn’t stop thinking about her.

He’d always had a rule of one night with women, but when it came to Alana, one night wasn’t enough.

“I did promise you pizza.” He motioned to the box he was carrying. “I was hungry when I left work and figured I’d pick up a bite to eat for the both of us.”
