Clash Of The Nannies (Turf Wars #5)(16)
Author: Bella Jewel

Fuck.

Walk away.

Star is in my room napping, and I only came in to grab my phone charger than I left in here last night when Hugh invited me in to watch a movie.

Hugh’s eyes swing in my direction and my first instinct is to turn and rush away, but I can’t seem to make my feet move. Instead, I lock eyes with him in the most intense, lusty moment I’ve ever experienced with another person. I’m horrified, and still, I’m here. Watching, my eyes on his, my body feeling things I haven’t felt in a very long time.

I should walk away, but when his guttural groan fills the room, I find myself drawn into the moment. The way his eyes are locked onto mine, the way his jaw clenches with pleasure, the way he makes everything inside me come alive just watching him. I wonder how it would feel to be in Delilah’s position, to have my mouth on his cock, to be sucking long and deep, listening to him moan.

God damn.

I need to get laid.

He cums with a shudder and Delilah immediately lets go and I watch in fascinated horror as his cum spurts out and lands on the sofa. Delilah shrieks, and he clasps a hand over the end of his cock to stop anymore coming out at such a frantic pace. She launches up to her feet and wipes at her mouth, as if the very idea of his sperm touching her is going to make her sick. “What the hell?” she yells. “You weren’t even hard a minute ago.”

“Calm down,” Hugh growls. “You suck a man off, he’s goin’ to cum.”

“You could have warned me, I don’t like that stuff in my mouth.”

Oh boy.

I turn and rush away, not hearing the end of their fight.

I get into my room and close the door, pressing my back to it and panting as I feel intense guilt over what I just saw. I should have walked away, only some sort of pervert would stand there and watch that. God, I’m a freak. A bloody freak.

About ten minutes later, there is a knock at my door.

Feeling my face flush, I walk over and open it to see Delilah standing. “Is Star asleep?”

Star.

She has never called her Star.

“Yeah, she is.”

“I’m going to take her to my parents for the night, but I’ll be back in time for the morning tea at the country club tomorrow.”

“About that,” I say, taking my chance. “I don’t want to be in the kitchen. After everything that happened, I really don’t want to be faced with that. Can I watch the kids, instead?”

She shrugs, as if she could care less. “I don’t care, yes. Whatever. Just get Star into the car.”

Right.

I go over and lift Star out of the little cradle she sleeps in when she’s in the room with me. She stirs, but she’s a solid sleeper so moving her to the car won’t be an issue. Delilah takes her from me with a mumbled thanks, and I quickly pack as much stuff as I can before helping her to the car. She drives away and I watch them go, feeling a little empty already. I’m attached to that little girl; it scares me how she has delved into my heart in such a small amount of time.

“Where is she goin’?”

I spin around to see Hugh standing, shirtless, he has just showered. I know why too, which makes it that much more awkward. I try not to look at him as he watches Delilah drive away, because if I do, he’ll know just what seeing him with her did to me and I can’t afford him to know that, not when we already have this connection that almost feels undeniable.

“She’s going to her mom and dad’s.”

“Why?”

He knows why.

He knows why and he wants me to say that I know why, too.

I shrug.

I spin quickly, because I can’t bear to look at him or be near him a second longer. I rush into my room. With an afternoon free, there are plenty of things I can catch up on. I want to do some shopping, mostly for Star, and possibly get my hair done if I can find anywhere willing to tame this wild mop. It would be nice, though. Especially considering I have to deal with the big morning tea tomorrow. At least this time, I’ll be wearing my own damn dress.

I get my purse, get changed, and walk out to see Hugh standing on the back porch, cigarette in his mouth, looking so damn fine my stomach twists, because I won’t lie, I feel a little jealous it was Delilah giving him pleasure. When something deep inside me wants to be the one, so damned bad. It’s pathetic, and I need to snap out of it.

“I didn’t know you smoked,” I say, pausing.

“I usually don’t, but when Delilah isn’t here, she doesn’t ride me for it so I take what I can.”

“Oh,” I say, and then shrug. “I’m going to do some things while I can. I guess I’ll see you later.”

“You won’t be at the club tonight?”

“Nope, I’m havin’ a night off. Was goin’ to spend it here with Star and Delilah, but she got shitty and stormed off.”

“Oh,” I say, acting like I don’t know what he’s talking about. “That’s a shame.”

He grins, and oh, when he does, it makes everything inside of me flutter. “Don’t play coy, Maggie. You and I both know you were watchin’, and we both know what that made happen.”

Oh god.

“Look, I’m sorry. Let’s just get that out there. I’m not a creep, I swear. I just couldn’t ...”

“Couldn’t stop thinkin’ about how my cock would feel in your mouth? Because I was thinkin’ the same thing.”

Oh. My. God.

My cheeks go red, and I put my head down, rushing past him. His hand reaches out and catches my arm, and he pulls me in close enough so that he can lean into my ear. “Can deny it as much as you want, but eventually, you’ll admit how fuckin’ much you want me.”

“You’re taken, Hugh,” I whisper.

“Yeah, for how fuckin’ long?”

He releases me, and I look up at him, my heart beating a million miles per minute. I want him, more than I should, and if I don’t get out of here right now, I’ll do something I’ll regret. I’m not a man snatcher, and I’m not about to become one.

I rush out.

God dammit.

What is that man doing to me?

BY THE TIME I GET HOME, all glammed up with a bag full of clothes, it’s past six pm. The house is lit up, but it’s seemingly quiet and I wonder if Hugh might have gone out. I go inside, shutting the front door and pause when I see him in the kitchen. Still shirtless, wearing only a pair of jeans. Music is quietly playing in the background and he has a beer in one hand, and with the other, he’s stirring something that smells incredible.

My god, if this is what Delilah gets to come home to every night, then she’s one lucky lady.

Hugh turns when he hears me place my bags down, and his eyes widen. “Well fuck me, didn’t think you could get prettier, but lady, you just did.”

Fuck.

Why does he have to say things like that?

“Well, it took hours in the salon, but we managed to tame the wild beast. It’ll stay like this for a few months now. It takes a lot of bad things to keep my hair from turning into a frizz pot.”

I go in whenever I can afford it and get my hair semi-permanently straightened. Which for me only means it ends up not full of thick curls and instead becomes more a thick, wave, sort of straight style that I can do a little more with. I like it for the first few weeks when it’s like this, it feels like every day someone has straightened my hair and styled it. It’s the best. But slowly, the curls come back in, because, like the little warriors they are, nothing can keep them down.
