To My Dad's Hot Best Friend (The Inappropriate Bachelors #8)(18)
Author: J. S. Cooper

“Really?” I stared at him, shaking my head. “Give a girl some warning!”

“I asked you a question and you didn’t answer me. So I needed to make sure that you had followed my command.”

“Followed your command? What are you, an army general?” I rolled my eyes at him and he started laughing.

“Nice to see you as well, Shelby. I like that dress. It’s very sexy.”

He looked at my plunging neckline as he pulled out of my apartment complex. “Thank you,” I said, with a smile. “I’m glad you approve.”

“I definitely approve. Are you wearing any panties?” He looked down at the expanse of bare thigh that the dress revealed.

“Maybe, maybe not,” I said again.

He reached his hand over and slipped it up the inside of my leg. I gasped, as his fingers brushed my bare pussy, and he grinned as he rubbed gently. “You’re such a dirty girl.” He pulled my dress back down and put his hand back on the steering wheel.

“You can’t just slip your hands up my dress and…”

“And what? Touch you? We both know you want me to touch you. We both know that if I told you right here and right now, that we weren’t going to dinner and we were just going back to my place where I could fuck the living daylights out of you, you’d be begging me to drive faster.”

I didn’t say anything because he was right. I wanted to fuck this man so badly that I couldn’t even think properly. “Whatever.” I turned to look out the window. “Where are we going?”

“I figured we’d go and get a steak at Ruth’s Chris.”

“Okay. It sounds good.”

“Good. And then I figured maybe we go to a movie, and then to a bar for a nightcap, and then…”

“Seriously?” I turned to look at him. “We’re going to do all that tonight?

“Unless you had other plans.”

“You know what, Sam?”

“What, Shelby?”

“I think I should call your bluff.”

“Oh?”

“Yeah. Why don’t we go to that movie, and maybe we can go bowling and then we can also go to a bar, and then we can order a pizza, and then we can go back to your place. And if you’re still awake and have enough energy, then we can fuck.”

“Sure,” he replied. “It sounds good. I love bowling.”

I glared at him, “You’re such a douche bag.”

“Why am I a douche bag? Because I agreed with the plan you suggested?”

“We both know those aren’t things I actually want to do tonight.”

“So you’re saying you don’t like bowling?”

“Bowling is fine, but…” I shook my head. “Sometimes. I think you’re an 18-year-old man in a 40-year-old man’s body.”

He chuckled. “Why is that?”

“Because you’re so immature.”

“You’re saying I’m as immature as your frat bro friends?”

“I don’t have any frat bro friends.”

“Really, you weren’t just at a frat party a couple of weekends ago?”

“Oh my gosh! We’re not going to talk about this again, are we?”

“I’m just curious,” he said idly. “How many frat guys do you know?”

“I know a lot of frat guys, but that doesn’t mean they’re my friends.”

“So you’ve never been with a frat guy?”

“I didn’t say that,” I said softly. I could see his hand gripping the steering wheel.

“So you have been with a frat guy.”

“What does it matter? We’ve both had previous sexual encounters. Neither one of us is trying to say that we haven’t.”

“I know that, but I’m just curious about the guys that you’re usually with.”

“There’s been no one I consider a man,” I said softly. “And I’m hoping once I’m with you, I’ll know what it’s finally like to be with a man who knows what he’s doing.”

He looked at me with a smirk. “Is that your way of telling me that you’ve never had an orgasm before?”

I paused for a moment and sighed, “Not exactly.”

“What does not exactly mean?”

“I mean, I’ve come from a guy going down on me, but no, I’ve never orgasmed during sex.”

“Then you have definitely not been with the right men. I’m going to absolutely ruin sex for you, Shelby.”

“What does that mean?”

“It means that once you experience an orgasm with me, you’re going to wonder how you could have lived your life.” He laughed.

“I don’t know why you’re laughing. That sentence didn’t even make sense.”

“I’m laughing because I have no idea where I was going with that. I was trying to sound cool and sexy, and it didn’t exactly work out. Let me just say that I’m glad that you’re here with me tonight.”

“I’m glad as well,” I said, smiling as we pulled onto the highway. Sam turned on the radio, and we listened to the sounds of smooth jazz.

I didn’t really like jazz music, but I didn’t want to say that because I didn’t want to expose the differences between us yet again.

My phone rang just then. It was my mom. I sighed but decided to answer it.

“Hey, Mom,” I said. Sam looked at me with wide eyes and he turned the radio down quickly. “I’m just going out to dinner with a friend. No, no one you know.” I smiled at Sam and he shook his head. “No, I haven’t spoken to Sam recently. Why?”

Sam’s eyes darted back and forth from me to the road, and I knew he was wondering what was up. “Yeah, I don’t know,” I said into the phone.

“Honey, I think Sam might be dating someone, and your father and I were wondering if we…” She paused. “I guess it doesn’t really matter.”

“Mom, why are you calling me and telling me this?”

“Your father and I want to go on a vacation to Barbados, to Sandals Resort.”

“Okay.”

“And we were thinking about inviting Sam and his new girlfriend, but your father said, ‘We don’t even know if he has a new girlfriend.’ So it might be…” She sighed. “I don’t know what I’m saying. I guess I’m just frustrated with your dad. I really need a vacation, and he doesn’t like to go anywhere with just me, because he says all I like to do is shop. And all he wants to do is play golf and drink. He really wants to have a double vacation. But now that Sam’s not seeing anyone… But anyway, how are you doing?”

“I’m fine, Mom. I’m actually almost at the restaurant, so can I call you tomorrow or something?”

“Okay, my love. Have a good evening.”

“You too, Mom,” I said and hung up. I started laughing as I looked over at Sam.

“What’s so funny?”

“My mom was asking me about you and your love life.”

“What? What do you mean?”

“I don’t know, I guess my parents want to go to some resort, and they wanted to ask you if you wanted to go on a double date, but they’re not sure if you’re seeing someone.”
