Author: Stephanie Hudson

“Besides, I am hardly dressed for dinner but hey, that’s an idea, you just let me catch a cab home and then I will meet you back here later…yeah?”

“Nice try, sweetheart. Besides, the dress part won’t be a problem,” he told me as the doors opened and he pulled me inside the elevator.

“I hate to ask, ‘cause I know I am going to regret it, but why isn’t a dress going to be a problem, Lucius?” A bad boy grin was my only answer, making me then ask,

“Where are you taking me now?”

“To my room,” he said making me instantly try to step out of the elevator, at the same time saying,

“Oh, hell no!” Only he tugged me back and slashed a hand in a way that made the doors close a lot quicker than they usually did, so I had no choice but be trapped in there with him. Then an arm banded across my front in a way that seemed as though it was becoming a habit of his. He held me to his chest and whispered down into my ear,

“What’s wrong, sweetheart…scared?”

“Terrified,” I admitted and then to save myself I added,

“They take murder very seriously here.” It was after this that I felt myself shaking thanks him throwing his head back and the sound of his laughter made my heart ache. Gods, but I loved it when I could make him laugh. It felt like I had just won a prize every damn time.

After this, he only let me go from this very intimate hold when the doors opened to what I gathered was his floor. I soon found my hand was in his once again and I was being led to what I discovered wasn’t a room at all, it was naturally a suite.

And as far as suites went, it was a very nice suite, beautiful even. But its beauty wasn’t what my eyes went to the moment I was pulled inside the room. No, it wasn’t the stunning view of the city from the private terrace, or even the expensive looking luggage that was yet to be unpacked, telling me Lucius had just arrived.

No, it was none of those things. Instead, it was the items that shouldn’t have been there, making me turn to the culprit in question and ask him in what I considered a dangerous tone…

“Why are all my bags here?”

Chapter 22

Under My Wear

I continued to take in the sight of all of my things as my mind struggled with the reasons why. It was obvious that they had all been packed up from the apartment I had been renting. My mind also did a quick sweep of the surprisingly modest living room that was the same pale stone walls, with oak wooden floors and soft furnishings in sunset colours. Artwork, which included painted nights of Jerusalem, next to fields of olive groves in the sunrise, adorned the walls and pottery and other ornaments were dotted around the room on chunky, dark wooden furniture with arched latticed doors.

But these accents of colour in the room were being overshadowed by the sight of my belongings.

“Why is all my stuff here, Lucius?” I asked making him shrug his shoulders and look as if he was trying hard not to smirk.

“I told you once before, looking smug is not an answer!” I snapped making that smirk now turn into a grin he was doing a shit job at trying to hide.

“I thought I would save you the cash,” he said giving me his first bullshit lie.

“That’s funny, ‘cause see, I paid up for the next six months, so do you want to try another bullshit reason or just give me the gist of your dominant ass making decisions that weren’t yours to make!” I told him, shouting at the end as I walked closer to him. And although he looked amused by the sight, he still started to back up as if I was a threat. Which I knew I wasn’t, because he was looking as if all he wanted to do was burst out laughing.

“You had an infestation,” he said making me shake my head, fold my arms, and tell him,

“Right well, unless I really pissed off the Gods since leaving my flat and unbeknown to me, they decided to release a plague of locusts I am unaware of, then there were no bugs in there this morning, Lucius.” His lips twitched again before telling me,

“It was a rodent infestation.” I raised a brow, silently calling him on his bullshit once more.

“I like mice,” I said picking up one of my handbags and throwing it straight at him. He caught it head on, as it would have hit its mark had he not been fast. He moved it to one side and said around it,

“They were rats.” I leaned down and picked up one of my shoes from the box and said,

“I like rats.” Then I threw the shoe at him, making him drop the bag and catch the shoe.

“They were the size of cats,” he said on a grin and this time I picked up a vase from a side table and shouted this time,

“I like mutant, cat sized rats!” Then I threw it at him, but instead of catching it as he had done the rest, he side-stepped, making it smash into the wall behind him. The second it burst into pieces my hands flew to my mouth as I shrieked, before dropping them to my sides and accusing,

“Why did you do that!” He laughed once and said,

“I think you will find you’re the one who threw it.”

“Yeah, but you were supposed to catch it, or it was supposed to knock you out, not smash on the wall! Shit…do you think it was expensive?” I asked as I started to walk past him getting ready to pick up the pieces, when suddenly he tagged me around the waist making me squeal in surprise.

Then, before I knew what was happening, I found myself pinned against the wall with one large vampire consuming my personal space and making it his own. Then he tore his sunglasses from the top of my head and threw them to one side. After this his hands were framing my face and he was tipping my head back and up to his, before he told me on a growl,

“Fuck me, but how I missed you!” Then he was kissing me, and my gasp of surprise only ended up being a welcome for his tongue to slip inside and taste every last bit of me. A needy moan of mine was absorbed by the kiss and only ended up spurring him on to take more of me. But my hands had remained by my sides, as I didn’t know what to do with them, because I didn’t think it was a good idea to give him the impression that I wanted him to be doing this to me, even if by the Gods, YES, I did and I fucking hated myself for it!

But it was if he knew because he pulled his head back and took my hands in his before raising my arms. When they were level with his shoulders, he placed them at the back of his neck. Then he put pressure on my fingers, prompting me to hold onto him after ducking his head lower. This was so he was free to pick me up by the waist, so we were at the same height. After which he started to walk me somewhere and before I could ask where we going, he started to speak.

“Now this is what is going to happen, you will go inside this bathroom, where you will find everything you need, then you will shower and get ready. After which I will take you to dinner, where we will sit, eat and talk about all the things that need to be said…” I opened my mouth to speak, getting out a barely heard,

“But…” before he shut me up by snapping his teeth at my lips making them close from fear of getting bitten. Then he went right back to speaking,

“…and I promise you, Amelia, you will listen to all I have to say or I swear, I will bring you back to this room, tie you to my fucking bed and keep you as my prisoner until you do…now do you understand?” he said, finishing by placing me on the vanity in the bathroom and catching my eyes as if to make sure that I had. To which I was only capable of nodding in return. Then he let me go and flicked me playfully under the nose and said,
