Love is Contagious : A Charity Anthology(176)
Author: J. Saman

Dex: Well, we’re not flipping a coin every time. A little organization won’t kill you…

I can practically see him rolling his eyes at his screen.

Me: And a lot of spontaneity won’t make you choke but my dick will! Why not do what we want when we feel like it?

Dex: That’s a concept I’m not used to…

No shit!

Me: It’s called living, you should try it! Also, it will happen if you give me more than ten minutes warning and thirty minute time slots.

Dex: So, it’s a no for the schedule?

Me: A BIG FAT NO! I’m not scheduling my sex life…

Dex: So, I guess you don’t want a schedule for when we see each other or an iCal reminder?

Me: Jesus Dex! I’ll schedule you in only if you need a tattoo and if we have a big important event with the group. I know you need plans; I can’t take everything from you…

Dex: So, don’t complain if I have no time to see you. If you’re not penciled in, you don’t get any.

It’s hard to annoy me, but Dex has a way of bullying me into what he wants, and I’m not used to doing what other people want against my will.

Me: Would it change from what we have now? Because I can see you twice a week and jerk off the rest of the time. You have your sidepieces anyway.

I sound like a jealous boyfriend. I hurry to send another text before he answers.

Me: Let’s preplan three times a week and play it by ear for the rest.

Dex: Deal! Now, who would be on top next time?

Me: Dex!

Dex: Just kidding! Jeez, have a little sense of humor!

Me: At least I know who’s getting spanked next time…

And my text stays unanswered… Dex is undoubtedly too busy to give me more than ten minutes of his day.

I’m happy to hang out with Julie and Ian tonight. I haven’t seen them much since the baby was born, and I need a night away from wondering what Dex is doing or who.

“All I’m saying is that we need someone to talk to her,” I hear from the front door. “I’m a hundred percent sure she’s not using, but she’s thinking about it. She hasn’t even stepped foot in her coffee shop since the accident.”

I walk into the family room and freeze when I see him. Dex is there in a freaking three-piece black suit with a royal blue tie. My dick swells so unexpectedly that I can’t take a step. He’s in “I’m fixing shit” mode, and bossy Dex is my kryptonite.

“Hey, Luke,” he says casually, as if we’re just friends. Which we are, so that makes sense.

“Hey, who are we talking about?” I ask, looking around.

I know the answer when I see Asher on the sofa. He would never be at Ian’s house if it weren’t about his mother. I sit next to Julie and take the baby so I have something else to do with my hand than pull on my dick.

“Virge. Ian thinks she’s using again. I believe she thinks she might relapse because she feels weak when, in fact, she’s just in love,” Dex explains, looking at me strangely.

Gia is cuddled up on my chest, and she smells like clean soap and flowers. It’s different from the eau de diapers she wears daily.

“Want me to talk to her?” I ask the group.

“That’s a great idea, guys,” Julie replies. “She’ll be more open with Luke than any of you. He’s great for helping people get their heads out of their asses. I know what I’m talking about.”

Julie is a sweet woman, but you have to remind her the world doesn’t always turn around her or Ian. Contrary to what everybody thinks though, she sees when she goes too far and backtracks rapidly. Jules is also a great friend, always there to listen without judging. She’s been in the eye of the media cyclone and the center of gossip too many times. She knows how it feels. The problem is that she doesn’t keep secrets from Ian and he’s a fucking gossiper, especially about the group. I know Dex doesn’t like Julie, but I really do.

As if to prove my point, Dex rolls his eyes at her comment. Asher chuckles—because he’ll always back his favorite uncle—and Ian gives his nephew a murderous look because he can’t stand Asher preferring Dex.

“Thanks, Jules. I’ll take her to PT in the coming weeks and talk to her,” I say as if this is a done deal.

Dex looks at me suspiciously as I kiss Gia’s forehead and give her back to her mother. I normally prefer not to get too involved in their shit, but I won’t let Virge drown. I get up and head to the door, followed by Julie.

“Where are you going?” Julie asks. “I thought we were hanging out together tonight?”

“Sorry, girl, I need to get out of here,” I say sending a backward glance at Dex, who’s speaking with Ian.

She follows my eyes and sighs. “You know how he is. I really don’t think that arrangement of yours is good for you. And from what I hear, he’s still hitting his stupid club and using those apps.”

“I know.” I sigh. “But it’s better than not getting any…”

“Come here,” she says, enveloping me in her arms. “Dex told Ian that Virge’s PT is super hot and totally gay. Why don’t you check him out?”

“That seems complicated,” I say, my eyes still on Dex.

“Because he’s not?” she answers, pointing toward Dex.

That’s when he gets up and walks in my direction, his icy blue eyes on me. Julie squeezes my forearm as if to give me strength before she walks away.

Dex stands before me, hands in his pockets, and eyes full of desire. “Want to get out of here and come to my apartment?”

“It’s not on your schedule, little prince. Are you getting spontaneous on me? How long do you have to offer? Twenty minutes?” I’m teasing, but there’s always truth behind any joke.

He looks in our friends’ direction to be sure nobody is looking our way then steps closer to me. “I don’t have to work tonight, and they don’t seem to be in any crises.” He points at the group behind us. “So we could have all night…” He wiggles his eyebrows.

I’m weak. I’m a stupid, horny asshole. I’m a man in need of a dick.

“I’ll follow you in my car, Dextyn. Let’s go.”

I’ve never wanted children. I’ve never seen myself as a father. However, when I saw Luke holding Gia tonight, fuck if I didn’t wish she was ours. It completely fucked me up. All I could think about was fucking him, even if we’d have some technical difficulties making a baby that way. Luke looks like the alpha male in a biker gang: tattoos, beard, rings, piercing, wallet chain in his pocket, biker boots. I mean, Harley Davidson could use him as a prop. But put a baby in his arms, and he’s sexier than ever. If I had ovaries, I would have gotten pregnant on the spot. My dick rocketed in my pants, and my whole body shivered. I wanted him right then and there.

I’ve tried hard to ignore him. I can’t stand how he calls me babe. I can’t stand his eyes on me as if he sees through me and wants to hold me tightly. I can’t stand how he wants to take care of me. But I want him to, and every time a guy wrapped his mouth around me this week, I thought of Luke. It was the only way I could get it up.
