Spit and cum drip down my chin, but I don’t even care.

I sit back on my heels and wipe my face while Lyric stands there breathing hard but not moving.

When I glance up at him, I can’t help smiling at his shocked expression.

“Did I suck you brainless? You’re looking a little dopey.”

“That was …” His words sound as dazed as he looks.

I get to my feet. “Need some water or something?”

“Or something,” he mutters and pulls me close.

Our pants are around our ankles, my hands are covered in cum—same with my face, probably—but he still presses his lips to mine and kisses me as if my mouth was as fresh as having just brushed my teeth.

His tongue laps at mine, no doubt tasting himself on me.

I have no idea how long has passed, which is the only reason I pull away. “We should get cleaned up before the girls get back.”

He nods blankly, and I laugh again.

“Noted.”

Lyric finally snaps out of his orgasm trance. “What?”

“All I have to do to make you speechless and compliant is suck you off. It’s handy to know.”

A big smile breaks across his face. “I have tricks too, you know.”

“Oh, do you?”

“Yup.” Lyric reaches for his hair tie and lets down his long golden hair. After he shakes his soft curls free, he stares at me with a cocked eyebrow.

“Touché.”

Chapter Twenty-Two

Lyric

All those little escapes, those brief moments of alone time with Ryder, they disappear when Maggie reports back to … wherever she needed to report back to before getting discharged.

Ryder’s been busy in the studio with a new act he’s producing, and I’ve been busy with playgroup and the usual nanny activities.

I’ve wanted to drop hints about staying the night and setting an alarm so I can sneak out of his bed before Kaylee wakes up, but with her sleep schedule as unpredictable as her bladder, I know Ryder won’t want to risk it.

And I don’t trust myself to stay in the nanny’s quarters without venturing upstairs in the middle of the night because I miss him.

I long for him.

Ryder’s basically given me his Pontiac for the time being while he’s working late, and in the brief time after Kaylee goes to bed and his musicians leave, we catch up on the day’s events and share goodnight kisses.

I want to push for more, but this needs to be done on Ryder’s time.

Kaylee will find out when he feels comfortable enough to tell her.

Today is a Chase day, and I have to admit they’re my favorite days. He and Kaylee get along so well, and it makes my job ten times easier.

I think Chase might be infatuated with Kaylee. Or maybe it’s the other way around.

Either way, it’s adorable, and as I send them off to play whatever game they want to play, I leave them in the playroom and flop onto the large sectional couch in the formal living room adjacent. It’s the first break I’ve had since arriving this morning. I throw my head back on the couch and will myself not to fall asleep.

Between staying late here and my gigs on the weekend, I’m a little wiped.

And that, of course, is when Ryder strolls in from the main part of the house. “Hard at work, I see.”

I spin to glare at him but relax when I see him smiling. “Your daughter has been …” Never tell a parent their child is anything less than perfect. “Uh, let’s just say, today she showed great leadership skills and will no doubt grow up to be a boss of some kind. Maybe CEO of a big corporation.”

Ryder lets out a small laugh. “She was being a spoiled brat, then?”

“No matter how many times I told her to use her manners, I think they fell out of her head today.”

“Do you need me to talk to her?”

“No. It’s usual kid stuff. It’s just been exhausting.”

Ryder takes the spot next to me. “Those days suck.” His arm wraps around my shoulders, and then he leans in to kiss my cheek.

I eye the sliding doors I left open so I could still hear the kids if there was an issue.

“Maggie needs to hurry up and come back,” Ryder murmurs. His lips touch my neck.

I stay seated where I am, my hands on top of my legs, and try not to cross any lines. “You’re either being brave right now or don’t care your daughter’s in the next room.” I keep my voice low.

Ryder groans. “I miss you.”

“You see me every day.”

“For like a second. It’s not enough.”

I swallow hard. “I agree.”

“Stay tonight?” he whispers. “We can work something out.”

“I have Chase today and tomorrow, and then I’ve got my gig tomorrow and Saturday night.”

Ryder blinks. “Shit. It’s Thursday already?”

“You’ve been working hard.”

He slumps. “I have. This new kid. He has an attitude on him already. Doesn’t like the way he’s been paired with a producer who used to be in a boy band.”

I fuse my lips together, trying not to smile. “Sounds … familiar.”

Ryder shuffles so he can face me. “Oh, no. This is different. When you do it, I find it cute. On this kid, it’s infuriating. You’re at least respectful. This kid thinks I know nothing about real music.”

“And yet he has a record deal with that attitude, and I’m still—”

Kaylee squeals.

I wince. “In charge of dealing with that.”

I stand.

“This guy has a record deal because he probably played the game and told them he couldn’t wait to work with me and kissed their asses. That’s not your style.”

“Not at all.” I turn to leave, but Ryder stands.

“Tomorrow night, after your gig, I’ll pay for an Uber or whatever to get you out here, and we can spend Saturday together.”

“Together, together? With Kaylee?”

“We could go to Disneyland or something. Just the three of us.”

I try to cover my smile. This is huge.

Kaylee screams again, louder this time.

“You should get that. And I should get back to work.”

“You just left the guy in the studio?”

“Yep. He needed a time-out.”

“By the sound of it, either Chase or Kaylee do too,” I say.

Ryder kisses my cheek. “I’ll try to finish up early tonight so you can get Chase home at a decent time.”

“Thanks, or Brenna and Chord might hurt me. Or you.”

When I go back into the playroom, it turns out Kaylee’s screaming with glee because she and Chase are throwing her toys at the fan, whipping them around the room.

I sigh.

Sneaking into Ryder’s house in the middle of the night feels weird, but there was no way I was going to pass up the opportunity to fall asleep next to him. And maybe grope him a little.

Or a lot.

He sent me a text earlier telling me to let myself in because he was going to nap and to wake him when I got here.

But when I reach his room, he doesn’t even stir as I move about his space.
