Heavy Souls (The Paranormals #2)(9)
Author: Andie M. Long

The band went on a worldwide tour and the last places on the tour would be in the UK. Zak wasn't even in the same country as me any longer.

I gave up. I still ran the fanclub, still adored the band, but my feelings for that were just like crushing on a movie actor. Not really a chance in hell of it ever becoming anything real.

And I never did get a Zak orgasm dream.

My mundane life carried on until the night I went to the Rock Hard café with Freya and found a new determination to get my man.

Zak

Present day

The radio alarm blasted out and I hit it with such force it flew across the room and smacked into the wall.

"Oh, Zak. What are we going to do with you?" A deep, monotone voice rumbled around my bedroom. I groaned, rubbing at my eyes and dragged myself into a sitting position, leaning against my pillows.

"You don't even give me a chance to wake up properly now?" I reached to my bedside table for a glass of water but saw a scotch I'd not finished drinking before I crashed out, so I picked that up instead and let the burn hit my throat. I coughed, cleared my throat and then stared at the man sitting in a chair in the corner of my hotel room.

"You're one short. The boss isn't happy."

"Look, I did my best. He must have seen that. One stupid bitch got cold feet. I didn't have time to find another, things got busy with the band."

"He's not going to accept the band as an excuse." Aaron replied.

"Well my quota is too fucking high. I love sex but sixty women a month? I do need to sleep, you know? Not be partying all night long. We're touring. I need to renegotiate the terms of my agreement again."

"I'll organise a meeting for you. I'm sure the boss will be pleased to see you. It's been a while."

It had been a while. It had been six months of touring different countries and having to send my souls by a demon-run Fed-Ex department, or was that every Fed-Ex department?

"It's been seven freaking years since I made this deal. A lot has changed since then. I'm not some pathetic teenage boy anymore who couldn't find their way to an animal sanctuary never mind find some real pussy. Now I'm the lead singer of the band of the moment. I'm needed on stage, not in the bedroom."

"You do remember you were the pathetic teenage boy who made the deal, right? And your success with the band is probably a by-product of the charisma you were trained in to score with the pussy?"

I glared at Aaron. "I was taken advantage of and you know it. I never thought I'd say this, but I am sick of women."

Aaron stood up, unfolding his long, thick muscled legs. He stretched revealing his tight abs as they strained against his shirt. I hated that demons could travel through portals and therefore crash hotel rooms uninvited. "Well, I'm sure the boss would be happy for you to switch over."

"That's not what I meant. When a hole's a goal it doesn't matter whose it is, I'm still gonna be knackered."

"Okay, I'll go set up this meeting, but in the meantime you might want to have another nap. You still look beat. There's got to be some part of the world where it's still yesterday, right?"

"I'm wiped, Aaron."

He shrugged. "All the more reason to nap, and I know you say you're sick of women but maybe you just need to find a steady one for your normal life to balance out the chaos in your dream life?"

"Yeah, sure. Hi, honey, I'm home after getting the numbers of six women I'm going to screw in their dreams tonight."

Sighing, I rubbed at my eyes and when I moved away my hands he was gone. I needed to do something about my current deal; this couldn't go on.

After napping again I was still exhausted. But unless my meeting with the boss was arranged quickly, tonight I'd be starting all over again on this brand new month. I know that the cliché about rock stars was that they fucked the groupies all the time, but my behaviour was starting to cause friction. The other band members were complaining my head wasn't in the game. They knew my deal, but still, I needed to do my share of the band stuff.

I threw myself through the shower and then opened my laptop. I'd get some of these emails answered and then at least, Vikki, the bands PA, would be off my case. I phoned down to room service for coffee and food and logged in to my mail.

There was a message from Erica, the woman who ran our fan club, that had been forwarded to me by Vikki. Erica wrote articles as if we'd really met. We had met once, briefly, when she and her friend had pretended to be reporters. I remembered she had purple hair, but that was all. I'd taken one look at the needy fan girls, seen Erica was drunk and for once had run for the hills. I looked at her list of interview questions she'd sent through and one in particular caught my eye.

Erica: So leading on from that, you won an award in Girl Power magazine as the most 'Sex-dreamed about male'. How does that feel, knowing that women all around the world are dreaming about doing naughty things to you?

I began to type my answer, smiling to myself as I wrote the truth but shrouded it in carefully constructed words.

Zak: Oh it fills me right up. Makes me feel energised to hear that!

I snorted. Then I wondered what Erica's reaction would be if she discovered that the band she loved so much consisted of a vampire, an incubus, a wolf shifter, and a satyr.

In two weeks time we would be back home, in London, where we had five gigs in seven days. Following that we were back in the recording studio, but we would have some actual days off in between. Noah had negotiated that as he wanted to spend as much time with Stacey as he could before she started her stint in the West End.

For a while things would still be ridiculously busy, but not as busy.

I looked down at the rest of Erica's questions. At the top of her email she'd asked Vikki if there was any chance she could come to see us in person while we were back in London. She was so enthusiastic, bless her. I answered them and forwarded the answers back to Vikki, along with a note.

Vikki. Why don't we put Erica and her friend up in the hotel for a week, with backstage passes for them for the gigs? She could do a feature for the fans and ask some questions face-to-face. I think she'd like that and it would be a thank you for her hard work over the last months. Z.

Also, her friend Freya had got on Rex's nerves being like a fly round horse shit and I still needed to pay him back for when he whacked me in the face with his cock.

I pressed send and got ready for that night's show.

Once more, we took to the stage and took in the sea of faces before us before the lights dimmed back down. It was a feeling that was indescribable but most definitely almost equated to being filled with part of a soul.

Every face looked at us like we hung the moon, and it would be easy to get carried away by it all, but I wasn't living the dream. As soon as my work commitments finished, my other ones started. I'd wished on more than one occasion for a way to drain the auditoriums and concert halls of souls in one fell swoop, but that wasn't a possibility. Orgies were the most I could do in one go. I'd managed ten souls one night and I'd been so exhausted they'd had to cancel a show, so I’d never repeated it.
