We Wolf Rock You(17)

That shut him up.

"Tell us more about your family." Stacey suggested.

"I'm one of the oldest six. We are all male and twenty-five. My brothers are all married and they all have at least one cub. Then I have four brothers and two sisters aged eighteen. Mum had said that was enough but fate decided she was wrong and so I have another three brothers and two sisters aged six. They're the ones coming with Mum and Dad tomorrow. So prepare yourselves because it could get a little wild in the house. Luckily, I have the large garden, which I also had fenced off today and warded by your lovely self." I smiled at Stacey. "Because otherwise the buggers would climb it and we'd be searching the trees."

"That must have been hectic to live around." Erica said.

"It's all I know, remember? We're not used to having one kid like humans. We find that strange. Our litters with other wolves are like I say, around five or six, and with a human woman around three on average."

"Th- three?" Freya picked up the walky-talky I had brought in case of needing to contact Miles or Cath given there was unreliable mobile reception in the woods.

"H- hello. Can you arrange a doctor for me? N- no, I'm not ill, just a private matter. Thank you. Yes, as soon as possible though. A telephone consultation will do, yes. Thank you again."

She put it back down. "I need the morning after pill, just to be sure. My body and mind are not prepared for three wolves to descend from my vagina. Please excuse me. I need to lie down." She said. I figured the wine intake and shock had taken their toll as she curled up next to a tree, pulled a blanket over herself and closed her eyes.

I now had my laptop from home so as soon as I was back in my room, I fired it up and paid my membership for access to Frankie's database because I needed access all areas.

In particular I wanted to ensure I was not going to have cubs anytime soon and I also wanted to fully research shifter families, because his mum and dad were turning up tomorrow evening and I had no idea how they were going to react to me.

The liquor cabinet and fridge had been filled with drinks and I opened a can of Mojito. Maybe instead of alcohol, I needed to do some deep breathing? Some kind of yogic exercise so I could calm down and think straight. That would be something else to look up though, so I plumped for the Mojito and the laptop.

Shifter Families

Wolf shifters are extremely close to their families and quite often live in large family groups, or in commune type accommodation. If you disrespect a family member, this can cause you to be outcast from the pack.

A potential mate will be introduced to the family at the earliest opportunity in order for the family to accept them as a new member of the pack. The Alpha of the pack shall have the final say. Should the mating not be accepted, the wolf will either have to leave their pack and live with their mate pack-less or commit to a life of misery without their mate.

In recent times some witches have developed spells which can temporarily grant reprieve from this misery, but the wolf is still never quite their old self.

Great, so if I didn't mate with him, he could have to live a life of misery? Well, no pressure there then. It seemed all I could do right now was to wait and see what happened when Rex's family turned up.

Sighing, I looked around the room. It was the most fabulous home and my every need was catered for at present, but it wasn't my home. I had to find a way to get a new job and to return to my house and be safe at my earliest opportunity. This week though I'd pretend I was on holiday with my best mate. The weather was lovely and somewhere in these boxes I had bikinis. I'd send out for up-to-date suntan lotion and hope they had sun loungers, because me and my Kindle had a date in that vast garden tomorrow.

Tuesday morning was an entirely different experience. I woke knowing where I was and this time I showered, dressed, and made my way downstairs to find the kitchen just before half past eight.

"Good morning, Freya. Where is it you want to go? I'll take you." Of course, Rex was going to be three steps behind me wherever I went. Hopefully tonight it would be over once his mum had sorted things.

"I'm looking for the kitchen, but it's okay, I'm just following the scent."

"You can scent? I wonder if that's because of our coupling?" He said excitedly.

I rubbed at my eyes. This was too much BC—before coffee. "I can smell toast and coffee, Rex."

"Oh. Well, I was headed that way anyway." He fell into step beside me. "Did you sleep well?"

"I did, thank you. Really well." I decided to change the subject from me. "Are you ready to get back into the recording studio?"

His voice was full of enthusiasm. "I really am. I spent part of the night working on some new stuff. Letting the others hear it and getting their corroboration is part of the fun. You should come listen."

"Maybe I will." I thought about it. Why not? See how tracks were put together. "Although my schedule is packed today. I'm planning on sunbathing and reading."

He cleared his throat. "I know you haven't accepted the position as my mate, but would you come and meet my family this evening? It won't just be you. I'm arranging a buffet on the terrace at six pm. Everyone from last night will be there, as well as my mum, dad, and younger siblings."

"As long as they don't try to pressure me in any way, I'd really like to meet them." I said honestly. "As your family, not as my family. Okay?"

"Understood."

He was being polite and so I decided while he was being that way, I could try to be civil too. "I know this is weird and I'm sure things will work out as they need to. I'm reading up about shifter history, just to make myself aware of your culture and traditions."

"I appreciate that."

"It's mainly so I don't accidentally do anything that means I'm stuck with you." I added.

He sighed at that. "Look, I get it. I was a complete dipshit towards you and now I've changed my mind and you aren't feeling the same way. I'm a week too late. We'll talk to my parents tonight after the banquet buffet and take it from there, okay?"

"Okay."

"Just know that while I am being reasonable right now, the wolf inside me wants to pick you up, take you to my room, and repeat what happened yesterday." Rex's eyes hooded with lust.

Oh boy. This did not help my resistance and it wasn't helped further when Rex leaned down towards me and whispered in my ear. "My wolf can smell your desire."

I ran off into the large dining room that had appeared ahead, Cath already bustling around serving Roman. Rex ended up coming to a halt behind me, his hand on my hip and his hard-on pressing into me.

"You're not helping me resist you, Freya. You mustn't run. My wolf will chase you."

"Oh of course, sorry." I said.

Move Freya.

Move away from the anaconda in his pants.

"Morning, you two. Did I miss something? Are you together now?" Roman's voice broke up my being hypnotised by Rex's trousersnake and I whipped forward, did an about turn and walked towards the dining table where Roman and Cath's amused faces greeted me.
