Brutus(33)
Author: Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

He had shown it to her a few times when they’d been experimenting with ghost sexing. It never panned out.

She hopped onto the table, straddled him, and leaned over, kissing him with so much force that it hurt. I love it! He would never complain about feeling her body on him, in him, around him, whatever! He’d take her any way he could get her!

Tula pulled back and beamed down at him. “I love you, Mr. Zac.”

“I love you, too, Tula. But do me a favor; take it slow. In case this is our one and only time together, I want to remember every moment.”

One minute later…

“That was amazing, Tula.” Zac threw back his head, floating on cloud nine. He’d never been ridden by a virgin like that, but it was an erotic experience he wouldn’t soon forget.

“Seriously, Zac?” Tula growled, still straddling him. “I barely got a tingle! I mean, I waited years for that ending?”

He smirked. “Tula, I’m not a human male. I am a god. I can go as many times as you like—for days if you wish.”

“Really?” She smiled.

“I can even come on demand. It’s a gift.” He gave her a little sample.

“Oh! Oh! Oh… Mr. Zac, I do believe you’re forgiven.”

The sheer fact that a tiny drop of his seed could excite her so, reinforced everything he felt so deeply in his heart. “I love you, woman. I love you so much. Think you can find a key around here somewhere?” He jerked his wrists, wanting to touch her smooth, solid skin.

“I probably could, Mr. Zac, but my sweet innocent days are over. I’ve got some dirty fantasies now, and most of them involve you being at my mercy.”

Not going to complain. “The God of Temptation approves. Especially because nothing could tempt me to deny you an ounce of happiness after everything you’ve been through.”

“Can we have a big wedding?” She clapped.

“Done.”

“A summer villa in Greece?” she asked.

“Done.”

“A charity to help children afflicted by apocalyptic events?” Her blue eyes lit up.

“Absolutely,” he replied.

Her joyful smile melted away. “But what if I fade in an hour? What if this was just a consolation prize from the Universe?”

He offered her his warmest, sincerest grin. “Then we are just like every other couple in the world, forced to live in the moment, who cannot allow themselves to forget how precious their love is.”

“I like that.” She sighed contentedly.

“Kiss me again and take your pleasure. I give you one hour and then it’s my turn.” He also had some fantasies. And none of them involved being in a mall while strange creatures watched through the plate-glass window.

CHAPTER TWENTY

Bent with worry, Brutus went to check that his dog and kitten were in fact safe and sound at his house just outside town. But on the way there and back to the compound, he’d nearly lost his head five different times. The immortal chaos was spilling over into the mortal world—car accidents, looting pastry shops, people spray-painting buildings with colorful images of bloodthirsty unicorns. Some guy in a clown suit was literally taking dumps on people’s cars. While they were driving. Brutus had never seen anything like it! Had he woken up on another planet? Worse yet, the craziness made him late!

It was a few minutes until the circle began, and he had no idea what to do.

The gods were missing.

His men had flipped.

The prisoners were no longer quarantined.

The Uchben library had nothing on Fina’s people.

Cimil wasn’t answering her phone.

His inner warrior screamed for him to act and do whatever it took to get Fina away since she refused to back down from this circle crap.

Showered, wearing clean black fatigues, and armed to the teeth with his favorite sword and two different sidearms, Brutus approached the fountain in front of the compound.

“Meow!”

“Woof!”

Brutus glanced down at the two furry faces protruding from the pet pack strapped to his chest. He had found both animals deposited in his home with a note from one of his men apologizing for flipping. So like them. Always thinking of the team first. Even when they turned evil, his men showed respect. Maybe respect wasn’t something that changed with the tides. Good or bad, respect could be shown by the best or worst.

“All will be well, my friends.” Brutus patted his furkids’ soft heads and gazed out across the darkening horizon. Something deep inside his immortal bones quaked. His skin tightened; his muscles tensed; his asshole puckered. Whatever was about to go down, he sensed it was something big.

Also, was it his imagination, or had the Minky-Mittens fireball grown bigger since he’d left? The tarmac was down the hill a ways, but the flames looked like they were twenty stories high. Whatever Minky and Mittens were doing, it had to be intense.

Brutus made his way to the front of the compound overlooking miles of open desert. As he approached the fountain of the gods, which had tiny statues of…you guessed it, the gods, he spotted Fina. She sat at the edge of a large flaming circle, alongside the other women. They had their eyes closed and legs crossed. Several hundred flipped immortal spectators—escapees from the prison—cheered for blood and were drinking beer. Brutus even spotted Ah-Ciliz and K’ak, foaming at the mouth. Well, at least Akna isn’t here. The Goddess of Fertility could make anything multiply, including rage.

He went up behind Fina and was about to beg her to cease this ridiculousness, but his watch beeped, indicating it was eight o’clock.

The women’s dark eyes sprang open. They stood and stepped through the fire into the circle.

The men around them howled.

“Stop it! Have you no respect for the mothers of my children?” Seriously. It was gross. Brutus called out to Fina, “Babe! I really don’t see the point in you doing this. I will not allow a silly competition to determine who I spend my life with. And I refuse to spend one more day without you.”

She didn’t listen, of course.

Fina took her position at the center of the ring. “To the end. Only one will leave. The prize for the victor.”

Before he could conjure a thought, the women began swinging, punching, and fighting. He clenched his fists as one of the women landed a blow on Fina’s temple, and she flew back.

Godsdammit! It was not in his nature to sit by while a battle was fought, and he sure as hell wasn’t going to allow his woman to be slugged in the face.

The women kept swinging and clawing. Suddenly, one of them whipped out a knife. Then another.

Oh crap! This was no longer a friendly boxing match. Then he noticed that the women’s eyes had turned into dark orbs.

They were flipping! But of course they were! It had only been a matter of time.

“Fina! Get out of there!” Brutus yelled.

But she wasn’t listening. None of them were.

“Here. Hold my kitten and dog, wuddja?” Brutus turned to the guy next to him but noticed the man also had two pits of black for eyes. “Never mind.” Brutus’s eyes scanned the crowd. Vampire. Vampire. Were-hippo? Demigod, demon, sex fairy. Dammit. Everyone was evil to the core, and he needed someone to hold his critters.
