Being the Bachelorette (Book 1) (Being the Bachelorette #1)(28)
Author: Alona Jarden

I wrapped my hands around his neck and couldn’t miss how comfortable I was sitting on his lap and how safe I felt tasting each and every inch of his lusty lips before I came to my senses and opened my eyes.

I couldn’t believe that I did that, yet I immediately wanted to do it again. I wanted to eat him up. Him too, that is, and all of them for that matter.

Now, there's a problem I never thought I'd have to deal with. There were too many men I wanted to kiss, waiting, and hoping for that to happen, and they were all crammed up together in my freaking living room.

Man, it sure looked like I was in trouble!

Chapter 13

By the time Leo and I walked back into the living room, the music had changed, and cheesy quiet love songs were playing in the background.

"Can I have this dance?" Mason, the chef, greeted me first as soon as I closed the balcony door behind me, and I reached out my hand to him as a sign of consent.

"Thank you for not asking me to go outside," I whispered in his ear. "I really didn’t feel like it."

"I couldn’t be anything less than absolutely original, and you were already asked to go out, so we dance." He made me laugh, and my body movements automatically adjusted to his.

He was a good dancer. A very good dancer, actually. A dancer and a chef! He seemed to have more than a few common interests with me, so I forced myself to concentrate on Mason and wasn’t too surprised that I succeeded in doing so as he showed off with his moves.

His grip was so strong, and having a conversation with him was so easy that I almost forgot about the other men around us. I just let myself drift away with the clear knowledge that our time together would bring me closer to knowing who shouldn’t continue with me for the next week.

"Well, Mason, tell me what you found in your online investigation of me?"

"I suppose only nonsense or more correctly, just the nonsense you allowed reporters to publish."

"That's a great answer!" He managed to put a smile on my face again.

"It is?"

"It really is. Incredibly accurate!"

"That's odd."

"What's so odd about it?"

"It's strange that an obvious answer such as that, pleased you so much."

"Well, it did." I tried to find the best way to explain why it was so pleasing. "You made it unnecessary for me to explain that you shouldn't assume everything that's posted online about me is true."

"Oooh, so now I actually think that it really was a great answer!"

"Well, look who's overly pleased all of a sudden."

"That's because I just realized that what I think matters to you!"

"Of course it matters. You might turn out to be my husband."

"If so, you might turn out to be my wife."

"And if so, the mother of your children, or is it too early to talk about having kids?"

"Umm..." For a moment, I thought I completely freaked him out. "I guess it's okay to talk about it. How many kids do you see in our future?"

"Lot's!" I decided to be as honest as possible in the hopes it would help me spot the men with whom I couldn’t find common ground regarding our aspirations for life.

"That's great! Me too!"

"Really?" For some reason, I found it hard to believe.

"Sure. I come from a big family, and I've always wanted an even bigger family for myself." He paused, pushing me away from him just a little while examining my pelvis in a very uncomfortable way. "Yes, you'll do just fine."

"For what purpose?"

"Creating a family, Naomi. A huge family! I believe that your body will be able to get right back to its shape even after your tenth childbirth." He just looked at me as my eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.

I prayed in my head for him to laugh or at least smile, yet he didn’t, so I turned to God. Please, God, make him say he was joking. Please, God. Oh, please...

"What's the matter, Naomi?" He pulled me out of my conversation with God and went on shocking me. "You said you wanted a big family, didn’t you?" Oh my, he looked totally serious.

"I did, yeah, but ten children?"

"Sure. In my online research, I read that it's your lucky number, so…" he managed to say with serious countenance before rolling out with laughter. "I'm sorry. I give up…" He held his stomach.

"Dumbass!" I stuck my finger into his large chest muscles. "You scared the crap out of me!"

"I scared you? I think it was the other way around, Naomi. As I see it, this is our first slow dance, and you're already talking to me about marriage and children!"

I enjoyed seeing he was taking the situation in good spirits. Not only him, for that matter. All of them, or at least all of the ones I spoke with.

I knew that my project was crazy, and it was obviously a weird way to meet my soulmate, yet it was so refreshing to leave behind all the fears and concerns that no one dares ask at the beginning of a new relationship. I found it so easy to delve right into it under the guise of common interest, and discover if we could be a match for each other.

A slightly shaky hand was placed on my shoulder, but a firm, confident voice accompanied it.

"Hey, Naomi. Did you manage to eat anything tonight?" Nathan, and his unreal blue eyes asked with a plate filled with all the dishes served so far, in his hand.

"I didn’t, actually, no." I stopped dancing, turned to face Nathan, and immediately forgot all about Mason.

"In that case, come sit with me on the couch and have some dinner. You're about to drink quite a bit, and I wouldn’t want you to be hungover tomorrow." As I couldn’t find the will to decline anything he would have offered, I was relieved he didn't drag me out onto the balcony.

I feared that exchanging bodily fluids with one more guy would probably make me sick for a whole week.

"Oh, this is really good!" I said as I tasted one of the sushi sandwiches. "Could you be kind enough to bring me another one?"

"I'm sorry, they ran out," Nathan hurried to say.

"Okay. Just any other sushi roll will do."

"It's all out. All refreshments are long finished," He was quick to determine.

"You didn’t even look at the kitchen. How do you know that—"

"I do. You can trust me, or look for yourself."

"So how come I have a plate full of goodies?"

"Because I made sure to put some aside for you at the beginning of the evening. I saw you were too busy to eat, so…"

"Oh, that's so nice of you." I was so smitten by his gesture that I couldn't even take another bite of what he served me, though I wouldn’t have minded taking a bite off his juicy lower lip.

"It's nothing. Now, go on. Eat." The directness of his speech, the one thing he mentioned in his application and was so proud of, left me no other option but to do as he asked of me.

For a few short minutes, I sat next to Nathan and nibbled a little from each type of refreshment, but soon, a fair amount of men rounded me up. My men!

Nathan wasn’t possessive of his time with me, and that allowed each man in his turn to ask me a question which I answered. It was good, or at least it felt good. Whenever I needed to escape sitting in the hot spot, I just came up with a few questions of my own and enjoyed the fact that it was all going very well.
