Shattered Souls(38)
Author: B C Morgan

“I don’t think you need to, um…” I stare at her but she doesn’t look as though she’s about to finish that sentence.

“Get your pants off, and the panties while you’re at it.” I fold my arms behind my back as she pushes them off and I lick my lips at the sight of her.

“Come here.” I crook my finger and she stops before me. I pull her in by the hips, push her legs apart with my hand, and slide my finger against her.

“Damn, Star, you’re soaked.” I slide three inside her and her hand squeezes my shoulder as her eyes flutter shut.

“Sit on me, Star. I want to watch as you move your hips. I want to see myself sliding in and out of you.” She moans low as she straddles me.

I line myself up, and one quick thrust is all it takes to drive myself to the hilt.

“How are you hard again?” she groans breathlessly, her head drops to my shoulder and I chuckle.

“I think the sight of you could keep any man hard.” Okay, that thought is just pissing me off.

She starts moving her hips, circling them as I flick and pinch her nipples. Her movements are already becoming jerky, but I meant what I said. I can’t stop watching the way I slide in and out as she starts to grind. I slide my hand between us until I can stroke her with my thumb, as I draw one nipple into my mouth, and pinch the other.

“Emmet.” I love the sound of my name on her lips, and I’m starting to think I could go without all that dark shit and be content with this.

I don’t need to unleash my monsters, she doesn’t tame them but she sure as fuck sends them into a contented sleep.

“Emmet, I’m close,” she cries as her mouth falls onto my neck and I grip the back of hers.

“Bite me, Star, mark me,” I growl, right before she sinks her teeth into my skin and sucks the pain away.

“Fuck!”

I grip her waist before I launch her onto the sofa, and drive myself into her. Her mouth stays on my neck, and I dig my fingers as far into her waist as I can.

She releases me on a pant as her head is thrown back, and her eyes squeeze shut.

My hand travels up her chest and rests on her collarbone. I don’t need to, but it doesn’t mean I don’t want to.

Her hands circle my wrist and I look at her. I don’t know what I expect, but it’s not having her draw my hand to her neck. I close it around her throat, my palm resting on her collarbone as her ankles lock behind me so her heels rest on my ass.

I tighten my grip more than I did before, and she cries out one last time as she tightens more than I thought possible. It’s enough to make me come and she swallows my grunts. I relax against her and wonder if things could really get any better.

An Unwanted Invitation

I can’t believe it’s been two months already. I almost wish time hadn’t gone by so quickly. I mean, of course I told Tom no, that I wouldn’t accept the pass. The odds of survival aren’t in my favor, but I can’t do that to my mom and Poppy. She’s making improvements, how can I turn my back on the reason for that?

I don’t know if the tracking has been fruitful or not, nothing has been mentioned other than Emmet letting me know that Darius agreed to do it. Not that I expected any less. I’d like to think it was all for selfless reasons, but maybe it was also a way to bring him into the fold. I know I can’t tell the guys that there is something between him and I, but at least he’s a part of it now.

The culling went ahead and we lost four more girls. Caitlyn was safe in the end, but only because the strangler struck again, and this time a tag was left with her. The Coward. Eight, I don’t even recall what she looked like. I do remember one thing about her though. She was the girl that Four sent out to keep watch as Thirteen tried to gut me. They’re not even trying to pretend that the girls are okay and will pull through. I think they’ve realized how pointless it is.

Although, I can’t stop the smile from spreading across my lips as I think about the nights I’ve spent with Aeron, and the… exciting moments with Emmet.

I don’t know why it excites me when he puts his hand around my throat, but I don’t think it would if I didn’t trust him so much. It just adds this extra level, he doesn’t even try to be gentle. Although, he keeps telling me that I’ll be going to his room soon, and I have no idea what he has in store for me.

As for Tom, well things seem to be getting better. He isn’t making snide remarks and I haven’t seen him with anyone else. Not that he’s going to tell me what was going on with that girl. If it wasn’t what I thought, then what was it? I know I said I trust what he says, but I can’t help having my doubts.

I run my hands over my black body con dress, slip on my mid calf boots and leather jacket, and head out of my room.

“Hey,” I say to the guard on duty. I haven’t learned his name yet, and I don’t feel as comfortable with him as I do with Darius.

Darius is on duty every other day now, so at least he’s getting some rest. The only time he isn’t here is when Sir has him doing something else. I’m hoping he’s resting now, I don’t like imagining the kind of things Sir might order him to do.

My mind drifts to my birthday and I can’t help but notice how something was missing. A huge part of myself, and I hate that I feel that way. I just really want Tucker to be here with us, it doesn’t feel right seeing this last year out without him. I don’t know what’s happening or if he’s managed to find a way out of his engagement. Would he come back if he did? Or would he still have to stay away?

“Good morning, Miss Carter. Where to first?” he asks, and I smile at him as I start walking.

“The mess hall, please. I’d like to see my friends before classes begin.” He nods his head as he falls into step behind me, and we don’t speak another word.

I guess this is how it should be. We arrive at the mess hall and I grab some scrambled egg, bacon, sausage, and toast. D is already at our table, and she’s staring at me while gnawing on her bottom lip.

“Hey, are you okay?” I ask, as I sit down, and start to work my way through my food.

“Aren’t you nervous? You have no idea who’s going to claim you.”

“Stop panicking, we both know who it will be,” I say as I pay her on the hand and she frowns slightly before peeking up as Maddox and Jake claim a seat.

“Hey, Five,” Jake says, glancing at me.

“Hey.” Yeah, awkward. As long as he does right by D though, I don’t have a problem with him.

Of course, I still feel strange when it comes to him, after the blackmail, and being made to betray my best friend. I don’t know if I think he’s good enough for her, but I still stuck up for him when she had her doubts. Because she loves him, and I don’t want to be the reason she doesn’t get to be happy.

“Well, this isn’t awkward at all,” D says with a wide smile and Maddox shakes his head at her.

“It’s okay, maybe they just need to do some bonding. You know that trust thing where you fall back and the other catches you?” He strokes his chin and D smirks.

“I don’t know, I have a feeling Luna may drop him, or just move out of the way.” They both laugh and Jake flips them off.
