“You’re not wrong,” Royce promised. His eyes poured into Grant’s and he was so tempted to tell him everything but Royce didn’t want to push his luck. Grant was already having a very dramatic morning.

“Oh, no,” Grant groaned as he looked over Royce’s shoulder. Royce turned and sighed as Sally’s Mercedes came around the corner.

“Let’s go,” Royce said and Grant nodded before they pushed open their doors and got out. Royce let Edgar out and they followed Grant to the front door and made it inside before Sally turned into her driveway. Royce laughed as he shut the door and peeked through the window. “I think that’s enough excitement for one morning,” he decided then wondered if he’d spoken too soon.

Chapter 31

“I knew Drew and Sally weren’t up to anything!” Grant said as he paced in the foyer.

“Don’t jump to conclusions yet, what else did she say?” Royce asked but Grant shook his head and pointed at the Lees’ house.

“I would bet everything I own that she’s legitimately worried about me. She asked me if I was sure I knew who you were and if I could trust you,” Grant insisted. Royce believed him and hummed thoughtfully as he rubbed his chin.

“What did you say?” He asked.

“I asked her what she meant and she just said that you might not be who I thought you were. Then, she told me to stay away from Sam!” Grant hissed and Royce’s brows jumped.

“She did?” That was shocking.

“Sally doesn’t like him. I could tell the minute they walked in,” Grant said and Royce nodded in agreement.

“I could tell too. I told Sam to back off and leave you alone,” he said. Grant chewed on his thumb nervously as Royce pulled out his phone. “I need to talk to Waites.”

“What did Sam say?” Grant asked and Royce winced.

“He said he won’t. I think he’s trying to flick my temper and get me to show my hand,” he explained. Grant frowned and rubbed between his brows.

“You don’t have a hand, though,” he pointed out. Royce squinted as he chewed on his lip.

“But do they know that? Are they supposed to? I definitely need to talk to Waites,” he said and went back to his phone. “Sally’s right about Sam. Stay away from him,” Royce added.

“How is this my life?” Grant laughed as he tossed his keys at the bowl. “I can’t move in Hopkins Creek without running into a spy. And they’re all hot and trying to get into my pants.”

“Sam is not getting in your pants. I’ll take care of him,” Royce murmured absently as he tapped out a message. Grant’s hand smacked his forehead before he jammed the heel of his palm into his eye.

“What if he asks me out again? I won’t survive a date with Sam!” He whimpered and Royce’s eyes were wide when his head snapped toward Grant.

“No.” It was deep and heavy and shook as he hurried across the foyer and grabbed Grant’s arms. “You’re not going to go anywhere with Sam and I don’t want him touching you. You’re mine,” he said as his hand curved around Grant’s jaw. Royce’s chest heaved and his eyes shimmered as they searched Grant’s.

“Whoa,” Grant breathed. He didn’t know what else to say, really. Royce squeezed his eyes shut and swore at himself.

“I’m sorry. That’s not how I wanted to do this and I know you’re really confused and overwhelmed,” he said and Grant nodded. Royce sighed as his arms slid around him and he rested his forehead on Grant’s. “You’re mine. Not because of the Lees or Sam. You’re mine because being close to you and making you happy feels better than anything I’ve ever felt in my life.” He stopped and wiped away the tear rolling down Grant’s cheek and chanted his name as he kissed him. Grant was shaking and aside from the scream building in his chest, he still didn’t have a response. He didn’t even know what kind of scream it was. Pain? Joy? Hysterical disbelief? “Part of you will always belong to Chris and I don’t want that to change,” Royce whispered. “You can love him and still have enough left for me. You can be mine now and I’ll take care of you, because he’d want me to.” Royce kissed him again and it was tender and reverent and it just made the pressure in Grant’s chest worse. Grant pulled his lips free as a hiccupping cry swelled within him.

“Royce!” That was the scream. It was full of everything—pain, joy, disbelief—love. Grant held onto Royce as he cried and attacked his lips. Grant was desperate with hope and fear and he didn’t know what any of it meant but he needed Royce. His hands tore at Royce’s tie and pushed at his coat as Grant kissed him wildly. Royce sobbed ecstatically as he chased Grant’s lips.

“Now! Please, I can’t take it anymore. I have to taste you. I need to feel you,” Royce growled as he locked Grant against him and quickly backed him down the hall.

“Yes!” Grant gasped as they bumped into a wall. Royce pushed him against it and bit into Grant’s neck. His hands tore at the fly of Grant’s jeans before Royce pulled him off the wall. They stumbled and danced into Grant’s room and Royce was urgent as they fell onto the bed and rolled and writhed out of their clothes. Grant never imagined anyone would feel urgent because of him and it was thrilling.

“Tell me what you want!” Royce begged before his teeth dug into Grant’s shoulder. His lips and tongue dragged along Grant’s collarbone then Royce groaned raggedly. “I don’t care how we do it but I need you,” he said as he rubbed his face all over Grant’s chest and stomach. His tongue dipped and swirled around Grant’s navel before he slid lower.

“Oh, fuck…” Grant panted as his head lolled on the bed. “I don’t know… I…” He babbled euphorically then covered his face as he laughed. Royce’s hands were everywhere, gripping and scratching as his lips, tongue and teeth covered Grant’s skin in heat and goosebumps. He was so hard but there was a throbbing ache in his ass and Grant wanted to be Royce’s in every possible way.

“I have a better idea,” Royce murmured and a loud moan burst from Grant as his cock was wrapped in silken, sucking heat. Royce took Grant deep into his throat as his fingers slid into the cleft of his ass. They strummed and teased as Royce’s head slowly bounced and Grant’s back came off the bed as pleasure and joy spilled up his spine and down his limbs. Royce lapped at his shaft then eased Grant’s leg back. Searing heat washed over his hole and Royce moaned ecstatically as he turned his head and pressed his face between the cheeks of Grant’s ass. He was starving as he held Grant open and licked and sucked greedily. Grant’s jaw stretched and his eyes watered as Royce’s fingers curled around his prostate. A hard current of warm pleasure rolled from his ass and Grant begged for more and he begged for Royce. “The bedside table,” Royce whispered before his tongue flicked at the head of Grant’s erection. Grant blinked as he fought to focus then nodded at the ceiling. He rolled and reached and pulled the drawer open but Grant’s hand hovered as he considered. Royce saw the hesitation and his eyes were heavy as they met Grant’s. Royce’s lips clung to the head of Grant’s cock before his tongue swirled and he sucked hard. A bright sting rushed up Grant’s length and Royce growled in delight. “It’s up to you. I don’t need a condom but I want you to feel safe,” Royce said. Grant shook his head as he swiped the bottle of lube and shut the drawer.
