“No problem, just try to take it easy and not stress about anything right now.” With that Doctor Lenox left the room.

At least now, we can get out of here and I can get her back to the clubhouse and in my bed there.

Pulling my phone back out, I see their responses.

Stoney: I was just thinking the same thing.

Blaze: Can’t be one of the brothers, Raven would have picked up on the emotions swirling around them.

Tracker: Gotta admit Raven can be creepy with that shit, but I agree. She’d have known before any of us.

Yeah, Raven is. But I gotta agree as well.

Me: I’m thinking it’s one of the clubwhores. We’ll be heading back to the clubhouse shortly.

I respond letting them know my thoughts as well as giving an update.

Blaze: Good. She okay? And F.Y. fuckin’ I, those bitches are nothing but drama. Glad my ol’ lady is in my bed every night and I don’t have to fight one of them off me.

Me: She’s good, mild concussion and whip lash. Need to get her to a baby doc soon.

Stoney: Glad to know she’s good. I’ll get Nerd to look into them all, see what he finds out about them.

Me: Have him check the ones we no longer allow at the clubhouse as well, like what’s that bitch’s name, Gee, Gie, Gia, something or other.

Tracker: Fuck me. I hadn’t thought about that bitch. She was pissed when we’d kicked her and Dixie out of the club for what they’d done.

Blaze: We also hadn’t heard from her in a long time either.

Stoney: She wasn’t here when Victoria brought Luna to the clubhouse.

Me: Doesn’t mean she couldn’t be watching. What if Mareena wasn’t the only one watching Luna?

Stoney: It’s a possibility. I’m callin’ for church first thing in the morning.

Nodding my head, I put my phone back in my pocket and glance over to Luna. Seeing she was in her head; I close the small amount of distance between the two of us and sit on the bed next to her. Cocking a leg up I face my woman and put an arm on the other side to gain her attention on me.

“What’s going on in that beautiful head of yours, Kitten?” I ask.

“This is all my fault,” she murmurs.

“How do you figure?” I’m not surprised she thinks this. Luna’s heart is pure gold and isn’t going to not feel something for what’s going on.

“If it wasn’t for me, you being in the car with me, she couldn’t have hurt you. What if it had been another one of the ol’ ladies. Or their children in my car . . .” she whispers, tears spilling down her cheeks.

“Luna, you can’t take that guilt on you. You’re not a psychic that can see the future. Baby, I love you but you gotta know, this isn’t on you. And honestly, your car was shit and you needed a new one. One I intend to buy you. Something durable.”

“You can’t buy me a car,” she gasps.

“Kitten, I can do whatever the fuck I want to when it comes to not only protecting you but our baby as well,” I growl, leaning in to press my nose against hers.

Huffing, Luna narrows her eyes on me. “Whatever,” she mutters under her breath.

Pulling back, I grin at her. “You just bought yourself a spanking when I get you home.” With that I stand, twist and scoot her over, in order to sit and hold her against me as I give her the comfort she needs right now.

“Love you, too,” she murmurs, laying her head against my chest.

Fuck if I don’t live for this woman.

She means the world to me and if it means taking out every last threat out there, to make her feel safe again, I will do whatever it fuckin’ takes to do so.

Chapter Fifteen

Luna

Since the wreck two weeks ago, I hadn’t been able to do much, not because I couldn’t but rather no one would let me do it for myself. It’s annoyed the living hell out of me being babied. Not just by Shadow, but the ol’ ladies, some of Shadow’s brothers, and the Devore men who descended on me like a bee to honey.

I simply just wanted to be left alone.

Did anyone listen to me when I said this?

Nope.

I’ve had company surrounding me constantly, without a breather anywhere in there. Today was the first day back at school and it was nice for a change. I was able to see Harley, Charlotte, and even Lila. Though she seemed different in some way. More apprehensive than usual. She’d been out sick since the night of my surprise party. I don’t know what’s going on with her, though I wish I could help her.

Lila is one of the sweetest people I know and yet she always has this pain stricken look in her gaze that seems to haunt her.

“Do you think we can convince your man to let you join us for dinner tonight?” Charlotte asks, she’s been upset since no one told her what was going on and she didn’t get to be there for me, as she put it, to make sure I was good with her own eyes.

“Probably, they’re all supposedly doing something tonight anyway,” I shrug. I want to go but then again, I don’t. Not with the fact, in the last two weeks Mareena hasn’t been found and Delano wasn’t at the airfield. Evidently, he’d taken off mere minutes before the guys got there according to the air traffic controller.

“Good, then we’re going. Text him and tell him you’ll be with us. Those little prospects can even join us if they want to,” she says, wagging her brows up and down as she mentions Cyprus and Aries. Two of the newer prospects. Neo and Cane had gotten their patches and were now full patch members of the club.

“I don’t think they’re allowed,” I mutter.

“Oh well,” she giggles with a shrug of her own as she pulls her phone and types on it.

“Shame, I could use some eye candy like them around,” Harley states, hefting her purse on her shoulder. “You ready to go?”

“Yeah, let me message . . .”

“You don’t need to message him,” Charlotte says taking my phone from my hand tossing it on my desk before leading me out of the room. “You’re with us and have those yummy prospects to follow you like little wide-eyed puppies looking for their mommy.”

What in the world has gotten into Charlotte?

“Ugh, Charlotte, she still needs her phone,” Harley grumbles from behind me.

“No, she doesn’t those prospects will tell Shadow where she is. Besides she’s not his slave and should be able to go and do whatever she wants. I’m just making that happen,” Charlotte snaps.

“Whatever, let’s just get to the restaurant and eat. I’m starving and you must be PMSing since you’re being a snappy bitch right now.” I hate to admit it but Harley’s right. Normally Charlotte is a mellow go get’em type of person with a bubbly personality. Right now, she’s the complete opposite.

“Maybe I am. But it’s been a bad day, the kids were hellions and I am in need of food and a drink,” Charlotte retorts.

The three of us head out the doors waving to the janitor as we pass.

“Have a good weekend,” I call out.

“You do the same.” One of them returns, but I don’t catch who since Charlotte is all but running, her hand still around my wrist.

As we get to her car, I look around for Cyprus and Aries, not finding either of them.
