Possessed by Passion(169)
Author: Bella Emy

So, here’s the thing. I’m not a piece of shit. Take these: a second set of all the items I gave to your girlfriend earlier this evening. Don’t ask how I’ve found you... I’ve got my ways and maybe I’ll tell you about them soon. For right now, you just worry about saving yourselves and then we’ll talk. There’s a pair of gloves in this trunk for you to pick up the items.

You’ll always be the brother I never had. I’ll always care about you. Now hurry up and send that demon to hell where he belongs. Then come see me.

~Benji

Cassius smiled again thinking over Benji’s note. The fucker sure had changed from when he had first met him, but that was another story, and there sure as hell wasn’t time for that right then.

After folding up the note and placing it into his back pocket, he grabbed the yellow rubber kitchen gloves, very funny, Benji, and pulled them over his hands. Once they were snuggly on, he picked up the ritual supplies and slammed the trunk closed.

Time to send you to hell, motherfucker. The image of Milo being sent to hell brought a devilish smirk over Cassius’s face.

He raced, almost skipping, to get back to the cellar, when as he reached it, he found the demon over Lara’s body with his hands wrapped tightly around her neck. Lara’s hands were covering his, trying helplessly to save herself. But she was too weak.

“Die! Die! Die! Why won’t you fucking die already, bitch!” Milo’s voice crashed through the cellar, pounding her head into the ground as he tried squeezing her neck tighter in his grip. A silver dagger lay beside her head.

Lara’s pale face was turning red, and before he knew it, she’d be gone. Gone because her asshole dead husband was planning on taking her life.

Cassius had to act quickly, or he feared Milo would use the dagger on her. But he needed to be smart about it. A grin pulled from the corners of his lips. “Damn, she’s barely hanging on, I bet she’s begging for you to finish the job. Because you know, you could never do it correctly when you were alive.”

Milo turned his head, no longer slamming Lara’s head into the floor, as Cassius’s words left his lips. His hands were still wrapped around her neck. “What?” the ghost spat out.

Exactly what Cassius had hoped for. Bingo.

“Oh, I’m sorry. I forgot. Lara did mention you were never a good listener as I fucked her senseless earlier tonight.”

Milo dropped his hands from Lara’s neck and pushed himself up onto his feet. His face scrunched up, obviously not amused by Cassius’ words. He picked up the silver dagger off the floor and then brought a hand up under his nose, rubbing it back and forth. He then marched toward Cassius and barked pointing at him, “You die first.”

Cassius chuckled. “That’s your problem right there. Didn’t you ever hear of putting the woman first? As in making her reach orgasm first? I always made sure she reached the stars each time.”

Milo snickered, still walking toward Cassius. “You think you’re so funny, Count Dracula? Don’t you look adorable with those gloves on your hands. Are you ready to do some chores?” Milo let out a macabre laugh.

“I’d rather wear these on my hands than be known as the one who couldn’t get my wife off. Ever.”

Milo scowled, “Wait until I have you begging for your life.”

Cassius raised an eyebrow. “I’m not going to beg you for a damn thing, Milo. The only one who ever begged you was Lara, at your sorry attempt at fucking her. She begged you to stop shaking on top of her as though you were being electrocuted, but she begged me to keep going.”

Milo snarled. “You lousy son of a bitch! I’m really going to enjoy killing you!” He darted at Cassius and as they hit the ground, Milo topped him. “Ha! You’re going to die, and I’m going to love being the reason behind it! Too bad your precious Lara can’t witness this sweet revenge!”

“Don’t be so sure, Milo!” Lara, somehow managing to muster enough energy, stood over Milo, blood dripping from her arms. In her hand was the flask, rosary beads, and cross for the ritual. She dropped the bag containing his bones to the right of her foot and lunged at him.

“Ah! Get away from me with that crap! You think you can get rid of me that easily? Not a chance, you dirty slut!” Milo shouted, trying to push Lara off of him as she shoved his spirit into his skeleton. But he was weak, and Cassius knew it was the time to take advantage of him.

The sound of midnight rang through the ceiling from an old grandfather clock sitting in the corner of the living room.

“Go, Lara, go!” Cassius bellowed.

Lara nodded toward Cassius and placed the rosary around Milo’s neck. He tugged, but she pulled tighter, choking him. Cassius ran over, holding Milo down, and taking advantage of his focus on Lara. She put the cross in between Milo’s hands. Cassius took one hand and pushed on Milo’s grip so that he wouldn’t let go of the cross.

“Now, Lara! Now!” Cassius roared, urging her on.

Lara, finally able to uncap the flask, doused Milo in the holy water, causing smoke to appear from his glowing blue image. He shouted profanities and closed his eyes, fighting against the power of the exorcism. But it was too late. Lara did the sign of the cross on Milo’s forehead as he jerked back and forth.

“In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen!” As those final words left her lips, Milo’s spirit disappeared with a pop.

Lara breathing turned erratic. Finally, that ghost was exactly where he belonged. She pulled her cell phone out from her back pocket and dialed 9-1-1, speaking quietly into the phone.

Once she hung up, she tossed the phone to the side and met Cassius’ gaze. Her eyes were ready to explode into waterworks. This couldn’t have been easy for her, and at the same time, he figured it was a relief. She shrugged, and as her shoulders dropped, he felt her exhaustion leaving her body.

Cassius moved closer and lifted Lara into his lap. He ran a hand through her hair, looking her over. “Are you okay, love?”

She nodded. “I am now.”

He smiled. “Good. Then let’s keep it that way. No more ghosts?”

Lara chuckled. “Definitely no more ghosts.”

“Perfect.” He leaned forward, stealing a kiss.

“So, now what?” Lara asked as they pulled away.

Cassius raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean? The bad guy is dead... for real this time. Now we get to enjoy one another. Let’s take a nice vacation, after a brief stop at the hospital. Where should we go?”

Lara looked up at the ceiling and placed a finger underneath her chin. “Hmmm, how about Hawaii?”

Cassius nodded but then decided against it. “I’ve got something better.”

“Oh, yeah?”

“That’s right. But it’s a surprise.”

Lara’s eyes lit up. “A surprise, huh? I love those. You know what else I love?”

Cassius shrugged. “What’s that?”

“You, Mr. Broxsby.” A smile pulled at her lips as she winked at him.

“You heard me before... when I said it, didn’t you?” he asked, swallowing thickly.

She tilted her head, looking away. “Well, I may have heard a little something, sure.” She giggled, catching his gaze once more, and Cassius pulled her tighter, chuckling.
