Rock Block(36)
Author: Mickey Miller

“Sorry…low blow.” She giggles and looks at me. “I mean not like you have any insecurity in that department, soo…”

I clear my throat. “Skylar, this conversation is not about my…you know what. This is about you. What about Federico?”

“What about him?”

“Did you enjoy sex with Federico? Did he take care of you?”

She frowns. “Well I did orgasm with him, at least. But that was mostly because I taught myself to.”

“With Bob?”

“Bob came later.”

“Right. So you did enjoy sex with Federico?”

She fidgets. “Well for a time he had the whole ‘mysterious foreigner’ thing going on. But I think I might have idealized our connection more than the reality. Two weeks into our relationship he was calling me his amor. But it felt really forced.”

My forehead wrinkles. I’m not sure what to make of that.

“I’m sorry, this conversation is turning into ‘Sky’s worst sexual hits,’” she says. “I don’t mean to get all negative. Sometimes I think I wanted the difficulty of a long-distance relationship, so that I wouldn’t have to worry about the sex.”

“You were avoiding this issue.”

“Yes.”

“And so you still have a hang-up about it?”

“Yes.”

“I see. Well, that’s okay. I mean, it’s not great that this stuff happened but I’m glad you’re telling me. Sky—first and foremost you’re my friend, okay? You’re so unselfish, you know that? I mean shit,” I laugh hardily then lower my voice, “you’re fucking faking being my wife so that we can try and save Ryan from a life of hell. I’d say, maybe you do have a problem with being overly unselfish.”

Sky laughs. “I never thought about it quite like that.”

I pump her hand. “What about ‘Sky’s greatest hits?’ I’d love to hear about those.”

She taps her nose and looks around the room for a few moments. “Well there was this one guy.”

“Oh?” My eyes widen, curiosity nipping at me. “Do tell.”

“We had a great connection, and he really knew how to make me come. I would have multiple orgasms with him consistently.”

A burning sensation rolls through my stomach. I know I technically asked the question—but it does something inside me to hear her talking about another guy like this. Still, I’m too curious to know more, so I ask her, “What did he do that was so hot?”

“Aside from just being a total hottie with abs I could wash clothes on, a great cock, and totally ravenous for me, and he really knows what he’s doing with his mouth?”

Okay, now I clench my hands up at my sides.

Fuck this guy.

She’s clearly comparing me to him. And deep down inside me, some feral, animal jealousy is being drummed up right now.

Logically though, it’s completely fair. I’ve been with other women, and it’s totally fine that Sky has been with this other guy. But I can’t help the reaction my animal brain is having right now.

“Honestly it was more about the connection we had. There was just something special about this one, even though we weren’t serious. I never even for a second doubted that he cared about me.”

“That’s a good feeling to have,” I choke out.

“Are you…doing okay?” she asks, a playful look on her face now.

“Just curious when you dated this guy?”

She bites her lower lip. “Hmmm when was it? Let me think…God I had so many orgasms with him and we only dated for about a month.”

“That’s terrific,” I say and take a bite of chicken, which I chew angrily.

“It’s a little hazy but I guess it would have been winter term of senior year.”

I squint. “Do you mean sophomore year?”

“No. I mean senior year.”

“But that’s right now.”

The corners of her lips turn up in a smile, and she bites her lower lip.

“So you’re saying you don’t think of yourself as a ripped man with a great cock who knows how to take care of me with his mouth?”

Another rush of adrenaline pours through me.

“You’re talking about me.”

“Thanks for coming today, Captain Obvious!”

I let out a hearty laugh and relief washes through me.

“You kill me, Sky.”

“Awww. Were you getting jealous?”

“Me? Jealous? No. Of course not.”

“Right.” She winks. “Of course you weren’t.”

“Well as long as we’re talking about me and you…I do have a question for you,” I say, in the mood to shift the subject. “You’ve talked all about these guys who haven’t really pleased you, and you doing what you thought those other guys wanted. But you haven’t talked too much about this: What do you want?”

She stares at me blankly. “What do…I want?”

It’s a huge question, so I rephrase it. “If the world was your oyster—now I’m not talking just about sex. Though sex is one of the ways it’s your oyster right now. If you could do anything, what would you do?”

Once the question is out there, I feel like it’s maybe too big to answer at once. But AJ McDickface and Federico weren’t asking it to her. Cleary the wheels are turning, she’s thinking about something.

“We’ve already done some things, sex and otherwise,” I add. “And I’m having fun with you. A lot of fun. I have no plans to stop doing things with you.”

“I know,” she says. “And I enjoy you. Lots. Sometimes it seems like this is too good to be true, don’t you think?”

“Maybe. I’ve learned not to question when things like this happen in life, though.”

“Explain.”

“I’m not super religious, but there’s this one story from the bible I love. About how Jesus teaches Peter to walk on water.”

“How does that story go again?” she asks.

“Now, Peter’s doing fine. He’s walking on water and he can’t believe it. And then he stops and thinks too hard. He thinks, holy shit I’m walking on water, this is fucking impossible. And then what happens? He falls into the water.”

She throws her head back laughing. “That is one of the most interesting re-tells of that scene I’ve ever heard. And I don’t see how it has to do with us.”

“Skylar.” I motion for her to give me her other hand. She does. It’s warm from touching the coffee cup. “I don’t know what the fuck is happening with us. You want to know what will happen after we have sex? I don’t know, to be quite honest. But I’ve never dated someone quite like this. Where we have over a year of friendship under our belt before we start. And then we find out that this crazy attraction is bubbling beneath the surface.”

“While we’re rock-blocking your friend,” she giggles.

I squint. “Rock…block? What’s that?”

“Well, you’ve heard of a cockblock, obviously, which is stopping your friend from going home with someone they shouldn’t. Well, this is a rock block. We’re stopping Ryan from ruining his life by putting that space rock on Jennifer’s finger.”
