On the Sweet Side (Wish #3)(53)
Author: Audrey Carlan

Eventually, his hips stilled, and his form became heavy against mine. I wrapped all four of my limbs around him, locking him in place and just felt the beauty of his weight in my full embrace and the measured deep breaths he released against the feverish skin of my neck.

I held on until he slid to the side, disconnecting us intimately but not physically. I snuggled against his chest, pressing my lips to the warm skin against his heart.

He curled one hand around my butt cheek and the other around the hand I placed on his chest.

“Isa, that was...” He let out a long breath. “I don’t even know what that was. Phenomenal doesn’t quite cut it, but it’s close.”

I buried my face against his chest and chuckled, then gave a saucy bite to his pec.

“Though I gotta say, I won the bet,” he stated triumphantly.

   I frowned. “Bet?”

He looked down as I lifted my upper body. He curled his hand around the back of my head for leverage and took my mouth in a deep kiss before letting me go. “I broke your six-dates-to-sex rule. And honey, I am not sorry. Not even a little bit.” He grinned like the cat that got his cream.

I pursed my lips and glared. “It was basically six dates.” I semi-lied. Thinking it felt like we’d been seeing one another forever.

He laughed. “How you figure? By my count, we had four actual dates. You caved. Admit it. I’m charming and you think I’m awesome enough to possibly fall in love with me.” He squeezed my ass cheek and I had to ignore the flutter of arousal the small move wove through my sated body.

I pouted and glared. “Pretty much four official dates, a ton of calls, texts and days spent working side by side.”

Kyson shook his head. “Babe, just admit I won.”

“No, because you didn’t.” I held up my hand, checking off dates as I went. “There was the day we met. The day you checked out the bakery we spent some time together. The first date, which kinda counts as two in one since you came to my place afterward. Then there was the biker bar, and the Thai food place where we got hot and heavy in the bakery before you dashed out to relieve your babysitter. And then of course today.”

“This morning was not a date, babe. I came for a good-morning kiss and I lost my mind because my woman answered the door in her underwear looking sleepy cute and completely fuckable. No man could withstand that kind of pressure.”

Oh, I liked that he saw me as cute and fuckable when I’d just woken up. “Fine, you win.” I sighed in defeat because he was right. The brat.

He rolled me over and kissed me thoroughly before he pulled back. “Linc is probably pissed.”

“Don’t care. We had a really rough day yesterday and shared a lot. This was a natural progression. I’m glad we have this side to us now. I think we both needed the connection. It was time.”

He traced the balls of my cheekbones, my eyebrows and then my bottom lip before he smiled and pecked me on the lips. “It was definitely time. And I can’t wait to do it again. Depends on how quiet you can be tonight when I make you tacos. Now, do you think I could steal a cup of joe on my way downstairs to get back to work on your bakery?”

I looped my arms around his neck, stretched up and ran my teeth across his jaw, then kissed it better. He was delicious. Better than any dessert. I could just gnaw on him instead of all the desserts I baked.

“You can have anything you want,” I said and meant it. The man had dug so deep into my life in such a short time there wasn’t much I wouldn’t willingly give him if it would make him happy.

He grinned. “I like that my woman gets happy and generous when she’s had a couple of orgasms. This bodes well for my future. I’m thinking Hope and I will get a shot at some fantastic breakfasts once I’ve awakened you with my mouth, fingers, or cock.”

My eyes widened and my clit throbbed as visions of sleepy morning sex with Kyson before making my small family breakfast filled my mind.

A dreamy sigh left my lips and I smiled.

“I like it even more that the idea of making a family breakfast after morning sex has you beaming with the prettiest light in your eyes.” He kissed me sweet and slow. “Gonna work to keep that light in my life, Isa. Mark my words. This is only the beginning.”

* * *

The administrative office at Hope’s school was super nice and accommodating. Kyson had already cleared me for picking up Hope that morning, so I only needed to give them Hope’s name and my ID.

One of the office ladies directed me to Hope’s classroom and I stood at the door. They still had a few minutes, but I watched as Hope lifted her arms in the air and followed the teacher doing a series of stretches. Every time they changed position, the teacher would ask a different child how to spell a small word. Hope was asked to spell the word bell and got it on the first try. I wanted to clap for her like her own personal cheerleader. Instead, I took a picture of her when she smiled after getting the answer right. Quickly, I fired off a text of the pic to Kyson.

When the bell rang, all the children raced to a series of wooden cubbies that had their names on them, then stood in a line at the front of the door. Hope saw me standing out against the opposite wall and waved liked crazy.

I smiled and waved back until the teacher released the children one at a time, making eye contact with the person picking them up.

The second Hope reached me she hugged my side and then grabbed my hand and tugged me toward the exit.

“I can’t wait to make treats with you, Izzy. It’s going to be so fun. I told my teacher that my daddy’s new girlfriend was so pretty and baked the bestest cookies in the whole world.”

I smiled down as she prattled on.

“Do you think we could make some for my class?” She breathed as if she’d used up all her breath with her first burst of conversation.

I chuckled as we walked out, and I led her to the car. “We’ll see what your daddy says.”

“He’ll say it’s okay. He says you make the bestest cookies, too. Daddy let me have two more last night, but he ate four! Can you believe it! Four!”

It was nice to hear how happy she was and that they enjoyed the treats I sent home with him. After the treats he gave me in bed this morning, I’d pretty much bake or cook anything the man wanted.

I didn’t notice a super-skinny brunette leaning against a tree next to my car.

I clicked the unlock button on my key fob and leaned down and pointed to my car so Hope could see which one was mine.

“Hope?” the woman called out when we got about fifteen feet from my emerald baby Serenity.

The two of us turned toward the thin, rather gaunt, tired-looking woman. She was beautiful with brown hair and brown eyes, but the girl needed to eat a burger, or fifty of them. With cheese.
