Cruel Player(31)
Author: Shae Sullivan

“Sweetie, my bridge club girls are just waiting for the high sign from me. We’re gonna go to the crab house and catch a movie. If you two will just get going, that is.”

Keira smiled at me. “Should we put these somewhere?” She asked, gesturing to the ticket and the ring.

“They’re safe here, but if you feel better, by all means, put them in your purse,” I said. “After all, they belong to you.”

“No matter what?”

“No matter what.”

I finally exhaled and gave Keira’s mom a victory hug while Keira went and splashed water on her face. When she came back a few minutes later, she tucked the plane ticket and the ring into her purse, and we headed out to dinner. My dream to play in the NFL had come true, and now I just prayed my other one would too.

Epilogue

Keira

When I look back on that night, I still can’t believe it sometimes. How, just like my world seemed to fall apart so quickly, in one evening it all changed for the better again. For a long time after we left the house that night, I just couldn’t speak at all. But Nate didn’t seem to mind. He just tucked me into rental car and took care of me. He held my hand all the way to the restaurant, and quietly filled in some of the details of what he’d started to tell me at the house. At the restaurant, he was recognized pretty quickly, so he asked the manager for table in the back.

“Hang on,” I said. “I don’t know if I can do this.”

“I’m so sorry, Keira. I didn’t want this to be stressful for you. But it’s kind of part of my life now.”

“I know,” I said. “I didn’t mean that I couldn’t handle the attention. I just wondered, if… well can’t we just go back to your hotel and order room service?”

I wasn’t sure he’d go for it. I didn’t want him to think I was just trying to get him back into bed at the first opportunity. But I also knew that we needed our privacy that night, and we were never going to get it in any restaurant. Finally he leaned over and caressed my cheek.

“Of course we can, sweetheart.”

Believe it or not, just like the crunch times when I had to tutor him, we actually talked. We ate too, an amazing dinner, and then we talked some more, almost until the sun came up.

“There’s no way for me to make you believe this, but I’ve never stopped loving you,” he said to me. It must have been about three o’clock in the morning at that point.

“I know that Nate. You said it back at the house and you’ve said it about three other times tonight too. And I believe you.”

“Good. Doesn’t mean I’ll stop telling you, about a million more times.”

“There’s so much more I want to hear about too.”

“And you will. I’ve got all weekend, baby. We never have to leave this room if you don’t want to.”

“I can call in sick tomorrow—today, actually. And I had Sunday off anyway. But what happens on Monday?”

“That’s what the plane ticket is for. You decide when you want to come to San Francisco, either to visit me next, or to live. All you have to do is give notice to your job and get on the plane. We can hire a company to pack up the house and get it ready for sale. I’ve got a real estate friend waiting to show your mom some condos, and a plane ticket ready for her too. But right now, how about I make sure that Do Not Disturb sign is hanging on the right side of the door?”

I smiled and in the time it took him to walk across the luxury suite he’d booked and back, I’d shed my jeans and tossed my T-shirt. I’d put on a purple lace bra and matching thong that I hadn’t worn since, well, since I’d been at MSU.

“God, Keira. You’re so fucking beautiful.”

I met him halfway as he strode toward me and wrapped my legs around his waist as he took my mouth with his. He walked with me over to the bed and I whimpered when he put me down.

“Need to get out of these clothes baby.”

It was strange to see him in a suit and button-down shirt. He looked really fucking good. I felt a little awkward that I hadn’t evolved much in my wardrobe choices.

“I guess I need to up my game in the clothing department,” I said as I helped him with his belt buckle. His jaw tightened and I knew something had pissed him off. He yanked the rest of his clothes off and I gasped at seeing him naked again. It was all I could do not to moan when he sheathed himself in the condom he pulled out of his pocket. He crawled onto the bed over me and took the front of the thong in his fist.

“You don’t need to change one fucking thing, Keira,” he growled and ripped the tong away from my body. “Not one damn thing.”

We both moaned when he buried his cock in my pussy. He took one of my breasts in his hand and sucked my nipple through the lace.

“Yes. So good. Love you, Nate.”

“Love… you… Keira!”

He pulled out almost to the tip of his cock and thrust hard back in. We held each other’s gaze as our rhythm increased and even as we came together, hard.

Needless to say, we never left the room that weekend. I knew the minute I turned around and saw Nate standing in my dining room that if this was my chance to get him back, no way would I say no.

I gave notice at my job, and two weeks later I was on a plane to San Francisco. It took mom a little longer to extricate herself from her job because she wanted to be sure the company found her replacement first. But she made a trip out for the long Thanksgiving weekend to look at condos. Nate and I had already moved into our own condo and were looking at houses outside of the city.

As for being a pro quarterback’s wife, I settled into the role nicely. I hauled out my nicest jeans and tee shirts for the games, and even found some skirts and cocktail dresses I didn’t mind wearing for fancy events, mostly because I loved Nate peeling them off of me to see what color thong I was wearing. Mostly I was just finishing my degree in applied mathematics at Stanford and walking around in plaid shirts and a messy bun. But that three-carat diamond ring sure did look good on my finger.

Like Gwen and Tank, our wedding was a small affair. Nate had made some great friends on the team, but he never had been one for much fuss. We just wanted to do the damn thing and all we needed were our closest friends and family.

Now it was Nate’s second year on the team, and he wasn’t starting yet, but he did get his time on the field. Tank and Gwen cheered beside me as he took the field. He looked back and found me in the stands. Ironically, I only looked back when I saw his expression on the huge monitor. As he huddled with his teammates, I could see the slogan they’d given him up on the monitor. I guess some things would follow us forever. The screen flashed “Buck Wild.”

Chapter 1

Codie

The last place I want to be right now is a frat house, but when Daisy wants something, she gets it.

I pause on the sidewalk, which is already littered with cans, and look down at my best friend. I’m only five foot six, but Daisy is barely five foot.
