A Death to Seek (Thornes & Roses #3)(34)
Author: Dani Rene

“Princess,” Finn murmurs the nickname he’s given me as he moves beside me, his arms tangling with Jarred’s as they cocoon me in their warmth.

“Fucking hell, Rosebud,” Jarred grumbles as he presses his lips to my head. The other nickname I’ve been gifted coming from him. With both men here, I finally let go and allow my pain to fall from my lashes. It trickles down my cheeks in rivulets of salty heartbreak. I have held onto it for so long, it feels as if I’m finally free. It’s strange how a few words can change your mindset, sometimes good, and sometimes bad.

“I’m so sorry you had to go through that,” Finn says softly, his lips moving over my cheek. “It’s not easy. No fucking pain is, but to make that choice is scary. I can’t imagine not having you here right now.” The genuine emotion in his voice makes my chest expand and my heart fill with affection.

“My father found me in the bathroom. He managed to get me to wake up, even though I was delirious. And ever since, he doted on me more than usual. I just…”

“You survived,” Finn tells me. “And that’s what’s important. I want us to do something,” he announces. “It’s been on my mind for a while, and I think it would be something we can share.”

I arch a brow. “Oh?”

“Tattoos. Matching infinity symbols, which will show our love, our connection, and our future.” Finn isn’t smiling, but there is a gentle affection burning in his gaze.

“We should,” Jarred agrees.

“I’d like that,” I tell them both. “I think my dad would like that too.” The tears in my eyes blur my vision, and they continue to slowly tumble down my cheeks.

“Did you ever find out about your dad?” This comes from Jarred, and I shake my head no in response. “Surely your mother would have told you now that your father has passed,” Jarred ponders, and I want to nod, but I remember the strange conversation we had when I left. When I asked her why she was allowing this, she told me she had a plan. And I realized then, that I had to tell them both.

“Before I arrived in Thorne Haven, I was saying goodbye to my mother,” I start as my brain starts clicking into place. “I tried to get her to tell me why she signed the contract for the marriage, but she didn’t give me a reason,” I inform them. “But she did say something strange,”

Finn tenses beside me, and I know he’s worried after seeing the folder Jarred brought for him from Tynewood. He asks, “What was it?”

The memory slams into me and I recall her words with clarity as if she were here in the room with us right now. “…learn about the Thornes, enjoy your time there, and when everything falls into place, it will all make sense.”

“Did she say anything else?” Finn asks, his words gritted through clenched teeth. For a second, I wonder if it was a good idea to tell him, but when I turn to look at him, I realize he’s not angry, there’s a small glint of fear in his eyes, which has me even more curious as to what my mother could have meant.

“She just said something about me being queen or something similar to the IT world, which I don’t understand because I’m not even interested in—”

“Fuck.” Finn is on his feet, his phone in hand before he presses the screen and holds the device to his ear. Jarred’s hold on me tightens, his calm demeanor easing my tension, but not by much. “Harris, I need you to look into Thorne Industries. I have a feeling my father might have done something utterly fucking reckless.”

He listens for a long moment, and I wonder what his private investigator will find when he does his research.

“Yes,” Finn says. “And then as you’re busy running those, get into the Abadi records,” he tells Harris as his eyes find mine. It’s almost as if he’s asking permission, so I offer him a small smile because I don’t know what he’s going to do, but we all need answers. If my mother is attempting to steal his family’s company from them, they should know.

I know for a fact my father would not have known about this because he was a good man. Even though he must have had offers to cut corners, and get involved in underhanded dealings, I’d never seen or heard anything untoward about him. But my mother, there has always been secrets that she’s kept from me and Dad. It’s time her lies come to light.

When Finn finally hangs up, he looks over at Jarred and me. “You two look too fucking good like that,” he growls while running his fingers through his hair. The dark shadow of his beard is slowly forming on his angular jaw, making him look rough, yet elegant in his button-up shirt and black slacks.

“Why don’t you join us?” Jarred coaxes, pulling me closer, so there’s space for Finn to slide onto the mattress. I’ve never been with two men, hell, my first and second times were with one fumbling college boy. It was over in a couple of minutes and I was left to my own devices once he passed out.

Over the years, I’ve become accustomed to finding pleasure with my fingers. But Finn and Jarred are men. They’re mature, experienced. And for a long moment, as Finn stares down at me with dark eyes, I feel as if it’s my first time.

Finn slowly moves those deft fingers to the buttons of his shirt, and with each one he flicks open, I see more of the smooth, tanned skin below. There’s a dark smattering of hair on his chest, which only makes him seem more mature. Then, his toned torso comes into view, and my breath is stolen from my lungs.

“Beautiful. Isn’t he?” Jarred whispers in my ear, his hot breath at my neck as he kisses the sensitive skin under my ear. His teeth graze my flesh, tugging on the lobe and sending heat jolting through me.

“For now, we’re focused on this,” Finn tells me, his eyes boring a hole right through me, right down to my soul, which is on fire for him and the man beside me. “Tomorrow,” he says, “is war.” And then he prowls over to the mattress where I’m nestled against Jarred.

Finn’s lips find mine, just like they did last night when I was practically climbing him like a goddamned tree. His tongue licks against mine, his flavor bursting on my tongue. The sweet, minty taste of Finn. Jarred doesn’t let up as his mouth continues its trail of hot wet kisses over my shoulder as he tugs at the tee I’m wearing.

Both men help me out of the item of clothing, which finds a home on the floor. Finn kisses me once more, and Jarred joins in, our tongues tangling, sweetness, mingled with spice and coffee. Jarred is fire burning me from his passion, while Finn is like a storm raging against me, breaking me down.

They’re the complete opposite of each other, but they fit together perfectly. I lean back with a smile dancing on my lips as I leave them to kiss. The sight is so erotic, I’m squirming as I watch their lips mold together. Tongues dual for more. My nipples harden against my bra, and my panties are slowly soaking through with arousal at the sight before me.

When they break their kiss, it’s Jarred who now tugs at his clothes and, soon enough, Finn and I are awarded with the erotically inked, tanned skin of the chiseled man who looks like a walking canvas.

“Sexy. Isn’t he?” This time it’s Finn who admires Jarred, and I have to agree. They both move quickly, tugging at my sweatpants, which are pulled down my legs, leaving me in only my underwear. I feel exposed, but I haven’t been more turned on than I am right now.
