Like Grim Death(32)
Author: K. Sterling

“I didn’t think you believed in God.”

“I didn’t but I may have changed my mind,” Casper admitted and used his elbow to open the bedroom door wider for Hawk. “Although, I’m more inclined to believe in gods, after that. You’re unnatural,” he declared but Hawk snorted dismissively and lowered Casper onto the bed before he eased out of his body.

“You can knock that off. My ego’s never going to recover,” he said and pointed for Casper to stay as he went to get a washcloth. It only took him a moment and Casper’s chin was resting on his crossed arms when Hawk returned.

“She’s a fool and she fucked up,” Casper said and Hawk shrugged.

“It doesn’t matter anymore,” he replied and enjoyed himself as he parted Casper’s thighs and cleaned the smears of cum from his skin.

“But you haven’t recovered,” Casper argued as he rolled onto his side and propped his head up. Hawk smirked as he wiped himself down then tossed the cloth at the laundry.

“Some things are better left broken. I thought I was bulletproof and too hard to break but I was blind and let myself be led by the nose,” Hawk said as he got a joint from his bag. He winced apologetically as he got onto the bed and stretched out next to Casper. “She was young, hot and high speed and I wanted her like I wanted my McLaren or my Bugatti but she didn’t know who she was or what she really wanted. I bought into her revolutionary reporter routine but it wasn’t real. Her socialist ideals and hunger for truth went out the window when I told her I was never touching the rest of my inheritance. She was only into saving the world until it paid off. Another man with more money came along and it didn’t matter if I was bigger, braver and better in bed than him.” Hawk folded his arm behind his head and tucked the joint between his lips then lit it. He took a deep drag and held it for a moment before exhaling. “My ego was worthless and I wasted years feeling sorry for myself before I realized it just didn’t matter. I thought we were a perfect fit because she was good and beautiful but none of it was real. I worked longer and harder to prove I was the hero she wanted and to shield her from who I really was on the inside, but I didn’t see who she was until it was too late.” Hawk took another hit then passed the joint to Casper.

“You’re right. It doesn’t matter anymore. You’re here now and I’d never take you for granted,” Casper said and Hawk smiled and hummed softly in agreement as he put his arm around him.

“I already know you better than I knew her and I trust you more,” Hawk murmured as he kissed Casper’s hair. It was true and the thought should have scared Hawk but everything just felt right and real as they finished the joint then whispered and teased each other until they nodded off.

Chapter 23

“Is everything ok in here?” Hawk asked and carefully peeked around the door. Casper frowned as he squinted into his microscope. As far as Casper was aware, everything was utterly magnificent. Superlative, even. His day began with Hawk’s face in his ass and a hard ride before breakfast and Casper spent the remainder of the morning and the afternoon puttering about in his lab.

“What are you talking about?”

“It’s been quiet for hours. Nothing’s shattered or exploded so I thought you might have knocked yourself out,” Hawk said as he snooped and poked at Casper’s notes and test tubes. He edged closer and brushed Casper’s hair over his shoulder so he could see his face. “I haven’t heard you swear all day,” he added. Casper shrugged and turned on his stool.

“I haven’t felt the need to. Was there something you wanted?” He asked and Hawk nodded as he stepped closer. His head tilted and Hawk made Casper dizzy as their lips brushed.

“Your ass...all over my lips again,” he murmured and it turned into a drowsy chuckle that pooled in Casper’s groin.

“Ok...” Casper sighed and leaned against Hawk’s chest as he sank into his lips. Their tongues swirled and Casper groaned as he wound his arm around Hawk’s neck.

“Up you go!” Hawk announced as his hands locked around Casper’s ass and he was lifted.

“To the bedroom?” Casper asked as he chased Hawk’s lips but he shook his head.

“Not yet but we can talk about what we’re going to do after we do a little physical therapy and fuck with your stump!” Hawk said excitedly and Casper groaned as he was carried from the room.

“I don’t want to!” He protested and grabbed the door frame. Hawk juggled him so he could smash Casper’s two best fingers with the side of his fist. Casper yelped as he let go and shook out his hand.

“I love carrying you around like this but you want to walk on your own, right?” Hawk asked and Casper’s lip pushed out as he hugged his neck.

“It really tickles and hurts when we fuck with it,” he complained and Hawk nodded as he made his way down the stairs.

“I know but we have to desensitize it so you can stand to wear your prosthetic. You can’t just strap it on and go.”

“Of course, I can,” Casper argued and Hawk gave him a hard look.

“You could but it would be inhumane and you’d probably give yourself blisters. And I need to take the shrinker off and see how much swelling’s left,” he explained patiently. “I’ve got a brace for us to try out and I set up the parallel bars for you.” He turned into the living room and Casper’s neck stretched as he looked behind Hawk.

“That’s what you’ve been building?”

“It was here or up at the house and I didn’t think you’d want to spend that much time up there,” Hawk said but Casper leaned back in his arms and gave him a disgusted look.

“I’d rather have blisters.” His lip curled as he was set down.

“I’d rather keep our therapy sessions private,” Hawk whispered as he offered his arm and Casper held on so he could hop and turn.

“That’s...nice,” Casper mouthed but he didn’t like nice things because they were safe and banal. He glanced at the quilt and the pile of throw pillows by the fire and they weren’t safe and banal as they made Casper’s eye sting but he couldn’t think of anything other than nice. It was so perfectly nice, right down to the little flowers on the quilt and the candles on the mantle that danced and flickered. Casper was overwhelmed again and bowed his head as his face became warm. His hair fell around his face, shielding him for a moment. “This is really nice,” he whispered weakly.

“Here,” Hawk said and pulled a black elastic hair tie from around his wrist. Casper’s nose wrinkled as he leaned away “Just give it a chance,” Hawk urged as he reached around Casper and twisted his hair into a bun. He stepped back to inspect his work and Hawk’s lips curved into a wicked grin. “That really works on you. I let my hair grow out for a while but I looked like I was trying too hard.”

“Stop it,” Casper said but Hawk shook his head.

“I mean it! You look really hot with your hair up,” he insisted and Casper scowled.

“You can see my whole face,” he grumbled as he raised his hand to cover his cheek. Hawk caught his hand and tipped back Casper’s face so he could see his cheek.
