Desecrated Essence (Desecrated Duet, #2)(4)
Author: C.A. Rene

I turn on my heel, taking deep calming breaths, and I leave their moans and groans behind me. I could go back out the way I came in but I rarely do that. As easy as it is to climb up, it's a lot harder to climb down and besides, I like the twinge of excitement when I think about getting caught.

I head down the stairs and turn left into the kitchen. It's dark but I see the Teacher's coat hanging on the chair. He practically lives here now and his scent is fucking everywhere. He must be here somewhere and I bet he's outside waiting until they finish upstairs, fucking pussy.

I know who he is and what family he comes from. The Ballon mob is a large, corrupted organization that gives my father's organization a run for their money, literally. I know his two older brothers are gifted in the murder department. Their expertise is almost like a work of art. But Oliver Ballon ran away from home when his father forced him to take his first life. Probably cried like a baby and then tucked his balls up into his stomach to become a guidance counselor.

I peer out the door into the backyard and just like I thought, Mr. Ballon is standing in the center of the yard looking at the purple wisteria tree. I wonder how he's feeling right now knowing another cock is balls deep in the woman he loves. Does he feel anger like me? Does he look at Caine or Cooper and feel the indescribable need to murder them? It's in his blood after all, murdering.

Maybe not, like I said, he's tucked his balls up a long time ago. Maybe he's just standing out there looking at some fucking flowers like the little fairy he is. Well, he's fucking up my escape plan because now I have to wait until he comes back inside.

I grab the last apple from the bowl on the table and crunch into its green skin, the sour juice dribbles down my chin. It takes a whole five minutes for the guy to come back inside, by this time I’ve already finished the apple and placed the core back into the bowl. I stand to the side and watch as he walks slowly to the base of the stairs and stares towards the bedrooms, his hand rubbing along the base of his neck.

Maybe she’s fucking three guys to compensate for the fact that not one of them is an actual man.

Oliver is standing in my doorway when I get out of the shower. He’s talking to Cooper about something quietly as he lays on my bed with just his boxers on. It’s no secret I’m sleeping with all three of them but it’s still awkward when it’s blatant in the others faces.

“Hey.” I smile at Oliver and walk over to kiss him.

He smells like his cologne and bourbon. Lately, Oliver has been drinking more and the thought scares me because of the situation with my papa. I know it’s not the same but I worry, nonetheless.

“Let’s go get something to eat.” I head into my closet and quickly dress in an oversized hoodie and leggings.

Oliver and I head downstairs while Cooper hops in the shower. Cooper and I have been connecting a lot lately with our sexual appetites. I don’t know what it is about him but whenever we find ourselves alone, we just can’t keep our hands off each other. We’re always in a hurry to feel our skin touch and to become connected in the most intimate way possible.

The backdoor is sitting open slightly and I stop to frown at it.

“Why is that open?” My heart speeds up and I begin to feel myself slipping. It’s been months since my last episode but I will never forget what it feels like when it starts its onslaught.

“Must have been me.” Oliver goes to the door and closes it. “I was out there earlier.”

I try to calm at his words but it takes a while to relax. I don’t think this feeling will ever completely leave me. I will always be somewhat damaged from what happened.

“Kail?” His hands softly touch my face and I will myself to stay here in the present. His touch is not theirs. Caine and Cooper killed them, they will never be able to do what they did to anyone ever again.

“Sorry.” I murmur when I finally bring myself around. “I can’t seem to let it go.”

“Let it go?” He gathers me in his arms. “You will never be expected to let it go. You’ve come so far. I’m proud of you.”

His words always have a calming effect on me. He knows exactly how to build me up when I feel like I’m sinking fast.

“What do you feel like eating?” I ask as I make my way to the fridge.

I pass by the table and see an apple core sitting in the fruit bowl on the table. I’m not throwing this one out, I will make Cooper do it himself.

I open the fridge and start pulling out the ingredients to make an omelet. “Eggs?” I look at Oliver with a smile.

“Sure.” He grins and begins to move around gathering everything we need.

“That smells good.” Cooper inhales soundly when he walks in the kitchen.

“You’re not getting anything if you can’t start cleaning up after yourself.” I give him my sternest look.

“Sha, what are you talking about?”

“The apple cores you keep leaving in my fruit bowl. That’s like the second one this week.” I point at the table.

He has a look of confusion on his face as he follows my finger. I don’t like it and it sets my blood pounding once again.

“I hate apples.” He shrugs. “Unless it’s in pies.”

“Oliver?” I know it’s not him, he is meticulous in his cleanliness.

He shakes his head and goes to the apple to pick it up.

“Maybe Caine.” Cooper says but he doesn’t look convinced. I’ve never seen Caine eat anything other than his lean meats and veggies or a protein shake.

“Or Zeke.” Oliver shrugs and tosses the core into the garbage.

“If it was Zeke, that core would’ve been completely brown.” I can feel the tremors starting in my hands.

“Sha,” Cooper places his hands on my shoulders. “Don’t panic. They’re gone.” He says the last part in a whisper.

I know they’re gone and so do many others. Those of which know why he’s gone and my role in it all. Georgina is out there somewhere with that information and Brody! Brody, who said he would kill me and then devoured my mouth before disappearing.

“Relax.” Oliver soothes. “We’ll figure it out.”

What they don’t know is that nightmares still plague me and sleeping has become somewhat of a chore. My attacks have lessened but I still get random bouts of anxiety.

My phone pings beside me and I see my best friend's name flash across the screen. She’s also been my sunshine on the darkest of days.

Kimmy: Boo! Tomorrow is the last day before holiday break. What are we doing?

I can feel her excitement bleeding through her words.

Me: This holiday I will be with Cooper’s family for Christmas but we have absolutely no idea for New Year’s.

 Kimmy: Yes! I’m on it!

“Looks like we’ll be having New Year’s with Kimmy and Henry.” I tell Oliver and Cooper.

“Finally,” Cooper exhales. “I want to pick that guy's brain about the Wave’s team.”
