It was all up to him to make himself come now, because all I was able to do was let my body take over, driving me to the edge.

“Come,” he demanded, slapping my ass two times before he gripped it tightly again.

I cried out his name, then covered my mouth to not create an echo which would most likely reach Papa’s ears back at camp.

“Come on my cock,” he hissed, and just as I got pushed over the edge, his cum filled me.

We were both breathing heavily, trying to find our way back to reality as I felt his cum dribble down his length.

I wasn’t ready to move, but he pulled himself out of me slowly and then knelt in front of me to press a kiss to my inner thigh.

I was shaking, watching him as his tongue came out to lick through my folds to taste his cum.

Smiling, I brushed through his hair and let him enjoy this moment while my breathing calmed again.

“This wasn’t a dream,” I whispered, needing to prove it to myself.

“No, it wasn’t,” he replied, pressing one last kiss to my clit before standing back up and kissing me.

“This is better than dreaming,” he mumbled into the kiss.

I agreed, and I was happy that for once my brain wasn’t deceiving me.

After a long, gentle kiss, we both got dressed and made our way back to camp.

Everything between us was cleared, and I had already forgotten about the foxtails when we arrived at our treehouse.

I let go of his hand after squeezing it, and when Papa noticed us, I smiled at him. “We talked it out.”

“Yeah?”

Papa looked at me and then at Fennec, and when he noticed the pain still lingering in his eyes, he sighed.

Walking over to us, I stepped aside as I knew what Papa wanted to do, and I watched as he pulled Fennec into a hug, patting his back.

“You okay, kid?”

“Yeah.” He didn’t sound too sure, but it was enough for now.

Fennec needed a little more time with Papa, but I was sure they would clear things up soon.

“I told Vespyr today to let me know if there’s anything I can help you with. Or if there’s anything I can do to get you help. I know you don’t need it, not for most things. But there are things you can’t deal with on your own.”

Papa’s words were genuine, and even Fennec couldn’t deny it.

Yet, he just nodded and stepped away from Papa’s hug.

“I’m fine,” Fen said.

“Good. I started cleaning the fish we caught. You can help me cook them if you’d like,” he suggested, and Fennec immediately walked over to the fireplace.

“Sure everything’s okay?”

I looked up at Papa and nodded, smiling. “Yes. Don’t worry about it, okay?” I didn’t feel like explaining everything to him, and why Fennec hung those foxtails up there, so I wrapped my arms around him to give him a quick hug before walking over to Fennec to help him clean the fish we caught this afternoon.

I cared a lot about him, and the talk I had with Papa where he told me about Mama bringing Fennec to a therapist still lingered on my mind.

Asking him about it might upset him though, so I reminded myself to keep the questions I had about why she took him there in the back of my mind.

He wasn’t in the mood to talk, so we all sat around the fire to cook and eat without saying a word.

“I’m going to sleep too. If you want, I can take you further out tomorrow to see if we come across a deer or bear. We need more meat,” Papa said to me as he was done brushing his teeth.

I was ready for bed myself, and Fennec had gone up into the treehouse almost an hour ago, saying he was too tired to stay up.

“I’d love to. Fennec should come too. Maybe it will make him take his mind off whatever he’s been worrying about.”

Because even if he had apologized to me after I asked him about the foxes, there was still something on his mind that bothered him.

He wasn’t his usual self.

But then…you never knew with Fennec.

“Yeah, might help get rid of his frustration.”

He walked over to me as I got up from the bench, and after a long, tight hug, I kissed his cheek.

“Goodnight, Papa. See you in the morning.”

He nodded, pressing a kiss to my forehead and caressing the back of my head. “See you in the morning, sweetheart. Sleep tight.”

Once he was in his cabin, I climbed the ladder and pushed the curtain aside to reveal Fennec sleeping inside.

I smiled, seeing him so serene.

I took off my boots and set them aside to lay down next to him, and after crawling under the covers, he moved and pulled me close to him.

“What took you so long?” he murmured, sounding half-asleep.

“Talked with Papa for a while. How are you feeling?” I asked, not expecting an answer from him.

It was quiet for a while, but when he lifted his hand to cup my cheek, he slowly opened his eyes and whispered, “I feel best when you’re next to me.”

I couldn’t help but grin at his charming words, and I might’ve even blushed a little.

“Good. That’s exactly how I feel about you,” I whispered, kissing his cheek softly.

“I mean it.” He tilted my head back and pushed himself up onto one elbow to lean over me, wide awake now. “I’m not okay without you near. I realized that when you were gone all day. It messed with my head. It made me angry, upset, and when you came back, I was so fucking excited to see you again. But you were mad at me,” he sighed, pressing his lips into a thin line.

I placed both hands on his cheeks, not wanting him to get upset again. “I’m sorry, but now I know. It won’t happen again, okay?”

“Promise me.”

I smiled at him, unsure if he even realized that he meant the world to me. “I promise, Fennec. I promise I will love and cherish you forever, the same way you love and cherish me. And no matter how far away I’ll be, I will always come back to you.”

He had my heart, but if I were to talk about how much he meant to me for one more second, I wouldn’t be able to keep my eyes dry.

Instead, I pulled him to me and kissed him, his lips melting into mine as he moved his hand to my leg to pull it over his hips.

“My sweet girl,” he whispered, making me smile.

His.

Always and forever his.

We had to stay at camp and eat what Mama gave us to survive the snowstorm that had come over us.

It wouldn’t stop snowing for four days straight, and every day I could see Papa’s annoyance whenever I handed him a bowl with rice or pasta.

“This isn’t what I’m supposed to eat,” is what he’d say, and I couldn’t help but laugh at his facial expressions whenever he took a bite.

He was making it seem worse than it actually was, and I didn’t mind eating pasta and rice for a few days before we’d go back to our only-meat diet.

“Want some more?” I asked Papa after getting up from the table and filling my bowl with the dinner I made.

“I’m full, thanks. I’ll shovel the snow and then go to sleep. It will most likely stop snowing in the morning, so we can finally go hunt.”

I nodded, adding two crackers to the bowl for Fennec.
