To My Dad's Hot Best Friend (The Inappropriate Bachelors #8)(25)
Author: J. S. Cooper

My dad put his hand up to high-five Sam.

Sam high-fived him, but I could tell he felt uncomfortable about it. Little did my dad know that he was high-fiving his best friend for having hooked up with his daughter. It was kind of crazy and sick, but I thought it was kind of ironic and funny at the same time.

“So, Sam, there’s this guy I was thinking about going on a date with. He’s kind of older, though. And I was thinking maybe he won’t be able to get it up. And I was curious as to someone like you, what would you have to say?”

“What?”

“I mean, you are an older guy dating a younger woman and you’re not scared that you won’t be able—”

“That is enough,” Mom said firmly “We’re not having this conversation at the dinner table. And frankly, Shelby, it’s none of your business what Sam gets up to in his personal life.”

“I was just curious. You guys are curious about my love life.”

“As far as I’m concerned, you’re a virgin.” Dad gave me a meaningful look.

“Yes, dad. I’m still a virgin. I’m waiting until my wedding night to have sex for the first time so I can give my husband something no one else has ever had.”

“Well, lucky him,” Sam said with a small smile. “I’m sure he’ll appreciate it.”

“Oh, yeah. My husband won’t be getting any ho.” I smiled at him. “I don’t believe in sex before marriage, or even oral sex before marriage.” I pulled out my phone. “Oh, my friend just texted me. There’s a frat party I’m going to tonight. I’m going to have to leave in a little bit.”

“I don’t think that’s such a good idea,” Sam said, sitting forward. My dad looked over at him and frowned.

“Now, Sam, I know you don’t have children and you are protective towards Shelby, but we try to let her have fun. She’s a smart girl. She knows what she’s doing.”

“Yes, I do. Thank you, Dad. And who knows what I’ll be doing tonight—or who will be doing me.” I winked at Sam. Mom gasped. “I’m just joking, Mom. Sam knows me well enough to know that I am just having fun.”

“That’s true,” Sam said with a sly smile. “I do know you quite well.”

“Yes, you do, Sam. Wouldn’t you say Sam knows me well, dad?”

“I guess so.” He shrugged. “As well as I know you, I suppose, and your mother.”

“I would like to think that I know my own daughter better than Sam does, thank you very much.” Mom glared at Dad. “And I would like to think that you know your daughter better than Sam as well.”

“Guys, there’s no need to argue over who knows me better. You guys just know me in different ways. Isn’t that right, Sam?” I smiled sweetly at him. “Mom, did you forget the broccoli?”

“Oh, yes.”

“And Dad, could you get me another drink, please?”

“Can’t you get it yourself?” He frowned.

“Please, Dad?”

“Fine.”

Both my parents got up and walked out of the dining room. Sam leaned forward and whispered at me.

“What do you think you’re doing, Shelby?”

“What do you mean?” I said, widening my eyes innocently. “I’m just talking with my parents and with my parents’ best friend.”

“You are trying to get us into trouble.”

“I’m trying to get us into trouble?” I raised an eyebrow. “I think you’re trying to get us into trouble.”

“You can’t be making these sorts of comments.”

“Oh? Would you rather I do this instead, then?” I slipped my shoe off and reached my foot under the table into his crotch and started rubbing. He exclaimed out loud and pushed his chair back quickly.

“Everything okay?” Mom popped her head around the corner.

“Uh, yeah,” Sam replied. “I thought I saw a wasp or something.”

“Oh, dear. Let me make sure the windows are closed,” said my mother and disappeared again.

“A wasp?” I stared at Sam innocently. “I wonder how it got into the house.”

“I wonder indeed.” He looked across the table at me. “Stop it, Shelby,” he whispered.

“Or what?” I whispered back.

“Or I’m going to spank you very hard tonight,” he replied under his breath.

“But you’re not going to see me tonight.” I smiled at him innocently again.

“You want to bet? You’ll be in my bed before the evening is out.”

“I don’t think so, Sam. I told you, I’m going to a frat party and I don’t know how long that’s going to last. And I don’t know who I’m going to meet. And I—”

“You’ll be at my house by ten p.m.” He smiled, and a delicious shiver ran through me.

“What are you thinking?” I whispered.

“I’m just thinking about how juicy your ass is going to look over my lap,” he whispered back.

“Why would my ass be on your lap?”

“Because I’m going to give you a spanking for being such a naughty girl today.”

I opened my mouth to whisper a reply, but just then my parents came back.

“Everything okay?” Mom asked as she sat down with the plate of broccoli in her hand.

“Yeah, it’s fine,” Sam said with a small smile. “Everything’s been taken care of.”

Chapter Eighteen

“So, I think I’m about to get going,” I said as I stood up from the table. “Thanks for a delicious meal, Mom.”

“Oh, do you really have to go now, Shelby?” My mom looked disappointed. “I thought we could all have a game of Scrabble.”

“Scrabble?” I laughed. “I’m not an old fogey yet, Mom.”

“I take offense to that,” Sam said raising his eyebrow. “I don’t consider myself an old fogey, either.”

“Well, just because you don’t consider yourself one, doesn’t mean you’re not one, Sam,” I pointed out.

“Now, now, Shelby,” my dad looked at me. “Don’t be calling me and Sam old just because we’re a little bit older than you.”

“Dad, you’re a lot older than me.” I laughed. “I mean, how would you feel if I dated someone who was Sam’s age?” I looked at Sam and winked.

“Well,” my father shrugged. “I wouldn’t think it was the best move you made. But if it was someone like Sam, I’d understand.”

“What do you mean if it was someone like Sam?” I said, curiously.

“Well, we know Sam’s got a good head on his shoulders.” Mom said with a smile. “And I would love for you to meet a man who has a good head on his shoulders.”

“Oh, so you guys would be okay if I dated Sam?” I laughed as if it were a joke.

“Well, I wouldn’t go that far,” my father said, and then looked at Sam. “Sam is very mysterious about his women.”

“Shelby, don’t you think you should be going?” Sam stood up abruptly.
