Promise Me(56)
Author: Ashlee Rose

The rush coursed through me, I felt like we hadn’t kissed like this in forever, the emotion and love that we both felt for each other showing in this one, little moment. I wrapped my arms around the back of his neck, pushing myself closer to him as our tongues started dancing with one another, the strokes soft as our lips locked.

His hands dropped from my hair as they slowly slid against the silk material of my dressing gown, his needy fingers untying the knot that was round the front of my stomach, undoing it and pushing my gown open before his hands pushed round my waist and round to my back. The feel of his hands on my skin through the silk material felt amazing. I broke from our kiss, rubbing my lips together, my blue eyes on his.

“I want you,” I whispered.

“Good, because you’re gonna have me.” His eyes hooded and stormy, all of a sudden. He looked over his shoulder to make sure the coast was clear. We were lucky that only a few houses, one being mine, sat on the beach front, and it was a nice rural beach that didn’t get too busy as you wouldn’t know it was here without looking for it.

He lifted me up for a moment, as he undid his jeans, pushing them down slightly.

“This is going to be fast and hard, baby.” His voice was desperate and low. His large hands pushed my nighty over my hips discreetly as he lowered me down onto him, slowly.

I moaned at the feel of him. It felt so good to be one with him again.

I needed this, he needed this, we needed this.

His hips pushed up into me hard as I moved with him, his thrusts becoming faster as he pushed himself deeper. I clamped around him as I came close to my release, his breathing harsh as he was close to his. I pushed my lips onto his plump ones, bucking my hips forward over him, his fingers gliding in-between us as he rubbed softly over my sensitive bud, pushing me over the edge as I came.

I couldn’t stop the moans that escaped into his mouth, biting down on his lip to try and quieten myself. His grip tightened on my hip as he smashed into me harder before he found his own release.

I couldn’t help but let out a shy giggle, his face breaking into a beautiful fucking smile as he laughed with me, our foreheads pressing against each other, our breathing slowing after our quick sex session on the beach.

“I can never get enough of you, I don’t ever want to.” His eyes burned into mine.

“You will never have to know what that will feel like. It’s always going to be me and you.” I reassured him.

“It is.” He smiled, his eyes pulling from mine, looking down between us as he started nibbling on his bottom lip. “Ah fuck it, I was waiting for the perfect moment, but nothing can be more perfect than now. Us both being together, in love and after amazing sex,” he grumbled, before his lips curled into a smile.

He pushed me back slightly as he reached into his pocket, producing an iconic blue Tiffany ring box.

“Darcey Sawyer, my grunge, my baby girl. Marry me, please? Be my queen?” he asked as he opened the box and produced a stunning heart-diamond ring. My hands pressed against my lips, my eyes brimming with tears, which left the box and looked at him, burning into his deep, green eyes, my hands dropping to reveal the biggest smile I think I have ever smiled.

“Yes! Always yes!” I cried as I held my shaky left hand out as he slipped the stunning ring onto my finger.

“Always mine,” he whispered as he pulled me into an embrace.

“Only yours,” I whispered back, my grin still on my face. “Promise me one thing?”

He nodded.

“Promise me you’ll always love me, whatever happens. Promise that you will never leave, and whatever life throws at us, we will get through it together?”

“Always. You don’t even need to ask, it’s always me and you. Forever,” he replied before kissing me.

DARCEY

Three Months Later

I was walking back towards Birchwood, which was Mr Cole’s Townhouse. We were going to go for the penthouse, but at last minute, we decided we didn’t want to be right in the hustle and bustle of London. Coming from our quiet village in Cornwall and leaving my rural beach house was a culture shock in itself.

I was starting to get my bearings now, I didn’t need to keep googling what train I needed to get on to get home, and how to get to certain places. I liked Mayfair where we lived, it was upper class and pretty. Our street had stunning, tall green trees that lined the pavements for what seemed like miles. It was summer, and the trees were full of blossom which made the street even prettier.

I smiled when I saw the familiar white house’s approaching, knowing that ours was the sixth one down as you got to the top of the street. I didn’t think I would, but I loved it here. Conor was happy, he loved his job and was excelling at it. It kept his mind busy and he loved looking after the Coles, plus he had made friends with James and Taron which was nice as he didn’t have any other friends apart from Chase.

I sighed as the thought of him crossed my mind, he was no better. If anything, he was worse, and it was heart-breaking. Carter pays for his therapist, he will not let my mum and dad put their hands in their pockets, even though they can afford it. I know he will get there but I think we all thought he would bounce back like Conor did. Don’t get me wrong, Conor was still nowhere near where he wanted to be, the nightmares and flashbacks still happened, but we both just accepted that this was part of the new him now, and if they do go completely then it is an added bonus.

My mum and dad come to visit once a month, and we go back home once a month as well. It’s nice to go home to the quiet every now and again, plus, it’s nice to see Chase and Robyn. I haven’t seen her much since we moved here, she had to take a leave of absence from work due to Chase, but Carter was fine, he is a very strong advocate of ‘family comes first.’

I walked through the black iron gate that sat between two white pillars before walking up the three steps towards the front door, unlocking it and placing my hand bag on the side table that sits in the hallway. I loved how bright and airy the entrance hall was, from the outside you would think that the inside is narrow, but it’s not. The marble floors in the hallway and kitchen were a high-gloss cream, which only made it feel bigger and lighter.

There was a sweeping stair case to the left of the front door, a solid oak bannister running alongside them. I walked down towards the kitchen, where it ran along the whole back of the house. The worktops were black marble, again high-gloss. A pain to clean but I wasn’t complaining.

The kitchen cupboards were white which went well with the worktop. I put my shopping bag on the side, placing the milk in the fridge along with the steaks and salad before putting the two jacket potatoes in the cupboard, ready for dinner tonight. I walked back over to the bag and grabbed the pregnancy test out, letting out a deep sigh.

I was a week late.

I hadn’t said anything to Conor as I didn’t want to get his hopes up if it was nothing. I had been putting it down to the stress of the move, and me trying to find a job in a dance school.

One night, I decided to apply for a teaching role at The London Ballet school, but I still hadn’t heard anything, each day that went by I was losing more hope of hearing from them. I put my carrier bag in the pantry before walking upstairs to the bedroom. I threw the box on the bed, then stared at myself in the mirror. I turned to the side, lifting my loose white T-shirt and placing my hands on my belly, a small smile creeping onto my face.
