To My Dad's Hot Best Friend (The Inappropriate Bachelors #8)(3)
Author: J. S. Cooper

“Me and Travis talked about it, and well, you’re fucking hot. And we thought we’re in college, so this is the time to experiment, right?”

“Are you freaking kidding me?”

“Well, we both know you’re freaky.”

“I am?”

“Yeah, you’re a freak, and we were thinking, who best to have a fucking ménage-à-trois with than fricking Shelby?”

“Okay. Thanks for the offer, but I’m really not interested.”

“What? We’re not good enough for you now?”

“No, and let me fill you in on something, Casper.”

“What?” he said, sounding pissed.

“I didn’t really like your dick, and I didn’t really like Casper’s tongue, either. So bye.” I hit disconnect and shook my head. “This is why I don’t mess around with the little boys anymore,” I muttered as I pulled into the mall parking lot, “because they think phone calls like this are appropriate.”

I knew that Sam would never ask me to have a threesome with his best friend that I’d cheated on him with. Like, have some fucking self-respect.

I needed a man. I needed a man that could fulfill me all by himself, and I was really hoping that Sam was going to be up for the job.

Chapter Three

The phone rang five times before the voicemail came on. Nellie asked me to leave a message, and I sighed in frustration and hung up.

“Where the hell are you?” I muttered under my breath.

I was standing in the dressing room at one of the stores in the mall wearing a very sexy black dress. I thought it looked amazing on me, but I wasn’t sure if it was too much and that’s why I was calling Nellie. She was always honest with her opinion. I needed to know if it was subtly sexy enough to wear around Sam.

I stared at my phone for a few seconds willing it to ring then decided to take a photo of myself and then send it to her via text.

“Hey, let me know if you think this is too sexy or not.” I pressed send and waited for her response. She texted back immediately.

“Hey, girl, sorry I can’t talk. In the library. But whoa, it’s amazing. You buying it?”

I sent a text back quickly, “I want to, but is it too sexy to wear around Sam?”

Immediately my phone started ringing. It was Nellie. I answered.

“Hey, I thought you were in the library.”

“I snuck out when I saw your message,” she said, laughing. “You’re going to wear that with Sam? Where, on a date?”

“No, not on a date, goofy. I’m thinking about wearing it and going home.”

“What do you mean wearing it and going home? Aren’t your parents going to wonder why you’re wearing such a sexy dress just to hang out at home?”

“Silly, I’ll say I’m going somewhere afterwards. That’s why I want to know, is it too sexy?”

“Girl, you cannot wear that around your mom and dad.”

“And around Sam?”

“Well, Sam will want to rip it off of you, I’m sure.” She giggled. “But it’s too obvious. Your boobs are practically popping out.”

“Really?” I said looking at my reflection again. “I’ve worn much sluttier dresses than this before.”

“Yeah, you have, but not in front of your parents and not in front of your dad’s best friend who I know you’re trying to seduce. I thought you wanted to be more subtle about it.”

“Fine, fine. I won’t get it then. Also…”

“Yeah?”

“Do you think I would look better in a red wig or a black wig?”

“What are you talking about?”

“I’m thinking about trying to wear a wig and trying to see if Sam’s interested in me without him knowing it’s me.”

“Girl, are you crazy?”

“What?”

“He’s going to know it’s you. Just because you have on a red or black wig, that’s not going to change anything.”

“I knew it,” I groaned. “I had a feeling I would still look the same, but I guess I needed you to talk some sense into me.”

“You’re just going to have to be upfront with him, Shelby. You’re just going to have to tell him you’re into him and see what he says.”

“He’ll shoot me down and then he’ll tell my dad and my dad will kill me. Do you want to attend my funeral next month?”

“No, but I still say it’s worth a try.”

“Girl, I cannot tell him that I’m interested in him. What am I meant to say? Hey Sam, I know you’re my dad’s best friend but will you fuck me?”

“Oh my god, Shelby,” she giggled, “you’re too much.”

“What? It’s true. I’ve been practicing letters.”

“What do you mean you’ve been practicing letters?”

“I’ve been practicing writing a letter to send him just like you did with Steele, and like Birdie did with Hunter, and well, I just don’t know what to do.”

“What does your letter say?”

“Um, I want to sip you like a glass of fine champagne.”

“Oh, Shelby,” she giggled, “you can’t say that.”

“I was also thinking I could ask him if he wanted to teach me all the moves in the karma sutra.”

“Shelby!” She was laughing even harder now. “You are not going to say that.”

“I was also thinking of saying, ‘I’m a good girl gone bad,’ but then I thought to myself, who am I kidding, I’ve always been bad.” I started giggling as well. “I just don’t know what to do.”

“Shelby, I don’t know what to tell you, but if you really want to see if he’s interested—”

“Which you know I do.”

“Then maybe you need to get him alone.”

“Well, that’s easier said than done. How am I going to get him alone?”

She lowered her voice. “I have an idea.”

“Oh, yeah? What is it?”

“So, you know that photo you just sent me?”

“Yeah?”

“Why don’t you send it to him?”

“What? What are you talking about? I can’t just send him a photo of myself in a hot sexy dress.”

“No, listen to me,” she insisted. “This is going to sound absolutely crazy, but it’s happened to me in real life, so I think he’ll believe it.”

“What are you talking about, Nellie?”

“So send a text message and be like, hey, Samantha, what’s up? About to buy this dress. What do you think?”

“Who the hell is Samantha?” I asked, confused.

“No, that’s what you’re going to type. There is no Samantha.”

“Girl, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“His name’s Sam, right?”

“Yeah.”

“So if you want to send him a message and you want him to think it’s a mistake just put Samantha, and then when he responds you can be like, oh my gosh I’m so sorry, I sent this to you by mistake.”
