To My Dad's Hot Best Friend (The Inappropriate Bachelors #8)(4)
Author: J. S. Cooper

Finally, I understood what she was saying. “Ohhh… It’s a good idea, I think. But what’s he going to think?”

“It doesn’t matter what he’s going to think. It’s a mistake. He’ll respond and be like, no worries, or something. But that will get the conversation started.”

“True. And then what do I say?”

“I don’t know. Ask if he wants to grab a coffee or something.”

“I can’t ask him if he wants to grab a coffee. He’s going to want to know why.”

“And you can’t think of any reason why you’d want to grab a coffee with him?”

“No! He’s not my friend, he’s my dad’s best friend.”

“So think about a reason why you’d want to talk to him that has to do with your dad.”

“Oh, you’re getting smart, Nellie,” I said. My mind was spinning with ideas.

“I’ve always been smart, Shelby.”

“Yeah, but not around guys. I’m usually the smart one.” She laughed. “Anyway, Casper just called me and told me that he will pay me a thousand dollars if I can convince you to go to the Sigma party tonight.”

“Oh my gosh, he did not!”

“Yeah, he did. Girl, those blow jobs you gave him must have been out of this world.”

“Well, you know,” I said, “I’ve got a magic tongue.”

“Oh my God, Shelby!”

“What?” I snorted. “You’re the one that brought it up, I’m just telling the truth.”

“Uh-huh. Anyways, I should go back. I left my laptop on the table in the library. I would die if someone stole it.”

“Yeah, I feel ya. Okay, I’ll speak to you later.”

“Okay, let me know what you decide to do.”

“Will do, I said and hung up.

I smiled to myself as I stared at my reflection. Nellie had had a really good idea. I was definitely going to send Sam a photo of myself—only if I was going to send him a photo, it wasn’t going to be of me in the dress as it was. I needed to make it a lot sexier. I quickly pulled the straps of the dress down and took off my bra and then pulled the straps back up. My nipples were very clear through the thin material. I grinned. I reached down and pulled the dress up slightly as well so it looked shorter. I pouted my lips, fluffed my blond hair, reapplied some lip gloss, and stared in the mirror.

“Okay, girlfriend, you got this.” I took about twenty different photos in different poses. I looked at all of them and then decided upon the one I thought was the sexiest and then I sent a message to Sam.

“Hey, Samantha, girl. Tell me what you think about this dress. Thinking about wearing it to the Sigma party tonight.”

I pressed send, put my phone back into my handbag, and took the dress off. I wondered what Sam was going to think when he saw the photo. Would he think I was sexy? Would he respond at all? If he just ignored it, then I would be super embarrassed because then I wouldn’t even get the chance to pretend that I’d sent it to him by mistake.

I quickly changed and was leaving the dressing room when I heard my phone beeping. I grabbed it from my handbag and smiled as I read the message.

“Hey, Shelby. This is Sam, your dad’s friend. Think you sent the photo to me by mistake.” Smiley face. I grinned.

“Gotcha,” I whispered.

Now I just had to think of an appropriate response. I’m going to reel you in, Sam. I’m going to reel you in so hard that you’re not going to know what’s happened to you. I responded quickly.

“Oh my gosh, I’m so embarrassed. I can’t believe I made that mistake. I call my friend Samantha Sam in my phone and I must have sent it to you by mistake.” I quickly pressed send. I didn’t want to type too much as I knew that would make it look a bit too suspicious. I then thought to myself, if I’m going to ask him to do something I need to continue the message. I quickly continued typing, “But hey, I did have a question to ask you, so I suppose it’s not for nothing.”

I waited for him to respond back. If he didn’t, I was going to feel like a fool. I kept my fingers crossed. I grinned as he messaged back to me.

“Hey, no worries. These phones are weird little contraptions. What’s the question? Shoot.”

“I was wondering,” I typed quickly, “if you had time to grab a coffee. It’s my dad’s…” I thought for a second. My dad didn’t have a birthday coming up. I didn’t know what excuse to give and then all of a sudden I remembered that my mom and my dad were about to celebrate a wedding anniversary. “My mom and dad’s anniversary is coming up, and I wanted to surprise them. I was hoping I could get your thoughts on a great surprise.” I hit send. It wasn’t the best excuse, but it was the best I had right now. I cross my fingers as I waited for him to respond.

“Not sure I’d be much help, but sure. Want to grab a coffee tomorrow?”

“Yes!” I shouted out loud and looked around to make sure no one was looking at me. “I’m reeling him in, I’m reeling him in!” I said under my breath. I texted him back, “Just let me know when and where and I’ll be there.”

I hit send quickly and then walked back to the dressing room and grabbed the dress. “I think I’m going to buy you after all,” I told it with a smirk.

Here I come, Sam. You’d better get ready. Sexy Shelby is on the way.

Chapter Four

My phone rang later that evening. “Hey, girl!” my friend Louisa giggled when I picked it up.

“Hey. What’s up?”

“Are you coming to the Sigma party or what?”

“I already told you I’m not coming.”

“Well, Casper and Travis are here talking about you to literally everyone.”

“What do you mean they’re talking about me?”

“Casper said that you bought a dildo and pleasured yourself on the dildo in front of him.”

“What? That doesn’t even make sense. Why would I do that?”

“I don’t know, but that’s what he’s telling everyone.”

“Oh my gosh. He’s such a fucking idiot. I should show up just to put him in his place.” “Well, if you want to put him in his place, then you should come.” She giggled. I could tell she was drunk. “What are you doing anyway? Studying still?”

“No, I’m done for the night.” I sighed. I’d just been watching a show on TV, but I was bored. Nellie was out with Steele again, so I was home alone. I was excited to go on my date the next day. Even though it wasn’t technically a date, I was still considering it one in my mind, and I wanted to be able to talk to someone about what I should do and how I should flirt. And I was pissed off that Nellie wasn’t there to help me. “You know what?” I said.

“What?” Louisa said, giggling. “Oh my gosh, David!” she screeched, and I frowned as I put the phone away from my ear.

“What’s going on, Louisa?”

“Sorry. David just came up and grabbed my ass!”

“Okay? And you didn’t tell him to stop it?”

“Why would I? He’s fucking hot. Shit, I’m going to suck his cock tonight.”
