KING OF THE UNDERWORLD(28)
Author: V L Peters

The way she was carrying on was just ridiculous, there was jealously in her voice. It made me wonder if she’d had some sort of carnal knowledge. There was a hint to it in her voice. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but I’d bet fifty quid that I’d be one hundred percent right. Not only that, she had that smugness about her that said. Yes, I fucked, Lucien Sinclair, bitch. I had a feeling that I was going to find out that he’d fucked half of the women I was going to run into. I mean, it sounded more and more like he was a man whore and someone I needed to avoid as much as possible. Which logically, wasn’t going to happen. I couldn’t avoid him, I needed to keep in contact to keep updated about what was happening. Any information he found, I needed to know.

Bloody hell …. I was so screwed.

It seemed everyone in the room held their breath waiting for my reply, I felt Alex shift in the chair beside me. I could feel how uncomfortable he was and the anger rising from him.

‘’I don’t particularly care what you feel or want,’’ I told her with a shrug of my shoulders, as I stirred my stew, keeping any sign of emotion from my voice and face ‘’I’m here on Lucien’s request and as long he wants me here, or until I choose to leave, then here I’ll be staying,’’ I finished off by taking a mouth full of the stew. I wasn’t going to tell her why I was here, if Lucien had wanted them to know I was sure he’d inform them.

‘’Julie stop being a fucking bitch. Scarlett’s right Lucien wants her here,’’ Alex told her through gritted teeth, barely holding onto his temper. You could feel the tension in the room rising. ‘’And if you want to keep your job and your body in one peace, I’d suggest you keep your thoughts to yourself and your mouth shut. That goes for anyone else who thinks what they say matters,’’ he paused looking at every single one in the room, not backing down, meeting their gazes causing their eyes to drop ‘’Of course if anyone agrees with what Julie’s saying, you can always seek out Lucien and fill him in on what your thoughts are. I am sure he’d be very ……… interested’’

‘’Now, now Alex, we don’t want any of that, I’m sure Julie didn’t mean anything in what she was saying,’’ Dora laughed, turning to shoot daggers at Julie. Her displease plain for all to see, while trying to lighten the atmosphere in the room at the same time.

‘’Certain people just need to learn to keep their mouths bloody shut,’’ he turned to Dora frowning, before turning to once again to staring at Julie. With narrowed eyes as he told her ‘’if Lucien didn’t want her here then she wouldn’t be. He has his reasons. Reasons no one needs to know about.’’

I decided to tune myself out on the rest of their conversation, it was obvious I wasn’t going to be welcomed here, especially by Julie, who was another person I planned to avoid. No, it wasn’t a good feeling knowing that you weren’t liked for any reason, other than being a witch. I wondered out of all of them sitting here now, had had any sort of contact with a witch and I didn’t mean me! I wasn’t used to someone hating me, it wasn’t something I had really come across before. Then, most didn’t know that we were witches, it’s not something we would even think of mentioning. We didn’t go around telling ever Tom, Dick and Alice. I didn’t really mix with anyone else outside my family unit, coven or the few close friends I had. The rest of my family were the same.

‘If you’ve finished with your stew,’’ With a start I realised that Alex was standing beside me, with a look of apology written across his face ‘’I’ll walk you back to your room. Hopefully, the things you requested will now be waiting for you,’’

I walked out with a goodbye to everyone, all except one replied I could feel her blue eyes shooting daggers at me as I left. At that moment I wished I were a fly on one of the walls, I could just imagine what was going to be said now we had left.

Well that went down well, not. It was obvious I wasn’t going to make many friends while here. I shrugged it off I had more important things to deal with. I just hoped that it didn’t take Lucien long in locating Megan. I really didn’t want to stay here longer than necessary. Plus, with my family arriving I had to plan something of some sort. I had no doubt that their welcome was going to be just as cold as mine.

I just hoped Aria wasn’t going to make an appearance.

CHAPTER TEN

LUCIEN

Half hour after leaving Scarlett

I went over the conversation that I’d had earlier with Aria, after I’d escorted her out of the room, we had left Scarlett in. It pulled me into the memory of what had happened. It wasn’t one of enjoyment.

She hadn’t liked the fact that I wouldn’t let her anywhere near the witch. She was mine; I wasn’t ready to share her and if I were being truthful with myself, I wasn’t going to let another soul touch her. Having that one taste had me craving her again. I’d hoped that craving I had felt would pass. It hadn’t.

‘’You are going to keep her here?’’ it hadn’t been a question more of a statement, a demand, as she’d looked at me. Standing there waiting for my answer.

I’d seen her expression change as I’d answered her, she might not have realised it, but I had seen it on her face. It was one of displeasure and annoyance. The ‘yes’ I’d given her hadn’t been what she’d been expecting.

‘’How long?’’ she asked me as she pressed her body against mine, running her long fingers down my chest.

‘’How long what?’’ I threw back, I was not one to be questioned, and many didn’t dare to even try. Aria was one of the exceptions, it was something I tended to allow. If she went too far then I had no problem in putting her in her place.

‘’How long are you going to keep her here?’’ she signed, irritated, as if she were talking to a child.

I couldn’t tell Aria the truth; she wouldn’t like it. I knew the minute I’d set eyes on Scarlett. I wanted her. I had been avoiding her, but as each day had passed, the more I needed to see her again, to feast myself on her body. I needed another taste; she was turning into an addiction I couldn’t stop or deny. My demon was still demanding for me to seek her out, to take what was ours. Even though I’d only left her not more than half an hour ago. My Demon was telling me to stop denying what we both craved.

‘’Are you planning something that you haven’t told me about,’’ she asks with curiosity, running one of her fingers down my chest, stopping at the top of my trousers. In the past I had always informed her of my plans, now I only told her what I wanted her to know. I had to find out who was her little informant was. Who out of those I trusted, were giving away my secrets to her, ‘’what, my love, are you going to do with her?’’ she demanded.

I ignored her first question, as I swiftly caught her by the wrist closing my fingers tightly around it, she’d been going for my cock and balls, I was all for foreplay, but now wasn’t the time ‘’I haven’t thought that far ahead,’’ I reply, making sure that the tone of my voice, puts an end to any of her questions. I put her arm around her back and bringing her tight up against my body.
